  • The music always makes me cry...

  • See my post on part 9

  • Beautiful description of God in the piper. In the book (note; I'm paraphrasing) mole asks rat if He's afraid of the piper to which rat replies "I afraid of the piper? No... and yet yes..." There's a healthy fear/awe of things or persons-not because they're evil-but because of who or what they. People in love have described themselves as being so much so or it causing them to feel so good that it scared them; particularly if they were someone who at the time was undeserving of such love.

  • Wait this is nothing like the novel! They changed the story!!

  • @golu3990 i know the combined "come wayfarers all" and "gate keeper at the dawn"

  • @golu3990

I believe this is an "adaptation" of the book.

  • Am i the only one falling in love with the toad?

  • I"m pretty sure the Pirate rat is the same guy that does the voice of the henchman from The Last Unicorn

  • my old man was saying the same thing as the sea rat to me

  • Ratty by the riverside and his talk with the sea rat always gets to me. How beautiful, inspiring and sad it all is!

  • 09:38 - They're so cute! Ratty & Portly

  • His fatty tie is epic!

  • hmmm... ratty luv his river sooo much but yet he litter in it at 03:43 tisk tisk :P

  • @mahuglas Aww, Don't scold- He was just upset "What good is poetry without anyone to share it with"

  • I just cried my eyes out watching this, everything about it from when Ratty mentions it's september to when they're found sleeping in the moonlight makes one of the greatest and most moving animated sequences I've ever seen.

  • @PersianWater i agree so much

  • Toad's not meant to sound American!!!

  • guys which song is it. i tried searching for "wind in the willows" but something else is showing up.

  • Oh I loved saiiling ship in Rankin and Bass' The Wind in the Willows. And the ship rat are look alike a 1800s pirate of an sailor with a leg leg hooked up a broken leg.

  • 1:15-1:16 The skinny man kind of looks like a Beavis/Butthead character.

  • I agree with MaiAriSquee - this is the most intensely memorable part of this wonderful film. i remember as a child being mesmerized by the tales of the sailor, by the colour of the sun, and then by the epic theme song as ratty sees pan playing her loot amongst the trees.. All of this is firmly imprinted in my memory, though it was like a dream to watch it then.

  • ...this... this is it! I've been wondering about this movie for a long, long time, and this is the moment I remember most clearly.

  • Portly is an Otter, not a Badger!

  • @Cynthia149 Yep I believe in the book he was an Otter's son, a friend of the others I believe.

  • The song used to make me cry.

  • Thank you for posting these! I lost my only copy twice and don't think it ever made it past VHS.

  • my grandfather taped this movie on 7/5/87but there was severe weather and the show kept getting interrupted by weather coverage.

  • Don't you just hate when that happens ?

  • jeez the lil badger is kinda cute lol

  • @triscodeckaphobia He kind of looks like a skunk to me.

  • @BorisFangirl Well aren't badgers, skunks, and wolverines in the same family with many creature features like long claws, stripes down the side, and head shape.

  • @therainbowranger84 Good point.

  • Comment removed

  • @triscodeckaphobia Lil' Portly - yup! ^_^

  • Toad is such a hoon! I wouldn't want to know what he'd be like behind the wheel of a V8 Supercar.

  • It must be twenty years since I last heard it, and it's still wonderful.

  • the willow song makes my fuzzy ^^

  • Me too, but it also makes me very teary.

  • ^^ ya
