hang a lantern off a bridge close to the water when the bugs and fish start spinning the larger fish show up too. fish there dont burn your line.

shrimp is the best bait to use for channel cats without a boubt, i use a slip sinker setup, and i have a neon stick on the tip of my pole to see the bites perfectly, you have to use the right kind of hook though or yoiull miss a lot of big cats.
