I've just, after a great deal of searching, replaced my copy of CYRIL DAVIES The Sound Of Cyril Davies (Pye 7" EP) and have to say, although he was a belligerent bugger, he sure could play the blues (and also steered an awful lot of today, and yesterday's, musicians down the blues (and rhythm & blues) path).
Sadly, still, missed, after all these years.
Thank you so much for uploading this vintage clip. You're a gent, guv (??????)... Thanks.
Lordy!! he's like Butterfield in that the gulf that seperates a white guy from the blues simply doesn't exist. Davies swings like mad here. Baldry must have fresh out of the gate!
@Diddleywah KEITH SCOTT is my dad. He still plays but not publicly for a long time. Plays harmonica as well and can pick up most instruments and play. I actually got him to play in a National Trust property this year. A real treat to see other people appreciate his talent and not just his biased daughter!

THE pioneering UK blues band. Who the hell was doing this in 1963? Plus a girl trio? Dear Old Carlo. So nearly a permanent Stone, which would have kept him off the burger stall and the bread round.
missed seeing cyril davies by one week at the marque in the sixties

Sad to think how much in music is now about image. This is wonderful, gritty and exciting.

Thanks for this! Memories of the Marquee etc around 62/63 and Cyril with Alexis and later the All Stars. A man of great talent and integrity.

Genius, what a loss to the world of music, if only he had lived.
