  • I love the early Steve Earl stuff but I think he's going nuts now.

  • THE Real Rebel rock n' roller! Viva Steve Earle~

  • Bridge To Tarabithia brought me here.. lol

  • A legend in my book. Turnitup

  • I hear this song and smile.. My brother was a basketball legend. but he never gave up on me.. to surreal how this song is so how the world is right now. the 1 Percent have it all and us middle class are still trying to get by even though we have degrees but we are screwed... bc of the tax loop holes.. thanks CORPORATE america...

  • @ericsully22 Ah, yes. If we only had more government theft, i.e. taxes, then we would all be more wealthy. How did that go for the millions starving in the USSR?

  • @05121784

    ??Really, just go away. Please..

  • I grew up listening to this song, thinking "i'm gonna get outta here someday". .. then i got out and realized the grass isn't any greener on the other side at all, just a different shade.

  • Great song, 67 chevy she's long sleek and black, love it.

  • I remember being 15 sitting in my 1st car (old musty smelling 65 Impala) with my guitar and playing along with this song on my stereo...just dreaming about taking off into the great unknown. This song captures those feelings of youth; of being almost ready to break out on your own and feeling held back... I can't remember the person who said it but these words are so true "youth is wasted on the young" LOL

  • What is the official name for that "sliding" musical instrument at 2:22?

  • @amazingdany That would be a steel guitar.

  • @amazingdany thats a steel guitar!!! like alan said

  • @jhatt25 A steel guitar! NOW I know and will be sleeping less musically-challenged tonight. Thx guys!

  • Steve Earle was genuine...real . It does not exist anymore. I'm sure the music biz tied to change him like they do everybody. He just wasn't havin it

  • @ValdesP100

You make it sound like Steve is dead!... But real music still exists, just not as often that it reaches the mainstream.

  • I'll never get tired of Steve

  • holy fuck 900,000 views a month ago it was only 50,000 wtf?

  • Seems like just yesterday this song was released. I was 13 then.

I get chills now when listening to it.

  • Most country today sings about the glories of small towns. That's okay but there is no soul in the songs. This has soul. Country music did once have soul.

  • why cant they build music like this these days country sux so bad nowadays.

  • @trailbikerharo

You have to look for the lesser known artists - Rachel Brooke, Wayne Hancock, Jason Isbell, Elizabeth Cook, Jayke Orvis, Hayes Carll and Steve's son Justin Towens Earle are some names to check out.

  • Wish there was still this kind of music now days (im only 21 & i love it! )

  • @fabalina01 me too, i'm 13 now and love steve earle!!

  • Such a relaxing song......wish music now days was like this.... :)

  • One of the first songs i'd learnned on the guitar, and aslo one of my favorites. Reminds me of my hometown and the way i feel about it. I'm gonna get outa here someday.

  • This song reminds me of back home, where the only towns within 100miles have between 50-800 people. All the kids in high school want to leave and go to the big city, but most find their way back to the country to settle down.

  • hes hot <3

  • somethimes i hear a song in movie and then surch for hearing the original. Also this time, i never get dissapointed. Awesome, how you can find one of the best songs just by watching a great movie.

On of the reasons too watch a good film, it has good music!!!

  • a lot of days i wish i never left. cuz sometimes it is really hard gettin' back.

  • I fucking LOVE old music like no shit.

  • seeing this live was on of the best moments of my life. ♥

  • Steve Earle...Love ya Music...Not most of you politics...Followed you since CopperHead Rd...Stay Healthy and keep makin' good music brother...This song is one of my favorites...

  • My parents divorced when I was 7 years old, and every Tuesday night, I my mom would pick up my brother and I to drive us to her apartment. On the drive over, my mom would always play her Steve Earle CD. I couldn't stand Steve Earle back then, but over a decade later, I find that he allows me to reconnect to my childhood like nobody else.

  • someday I'll go to America with my friend

  • I love this I mean absolutly love it!

  • For some reason I like it better in bridge to Teribithia movie

  • @BlueGreenn1 same here :)

  • @joshspw

    not to mention bad taste

  • @darlincommitme @joshspw i just didn't know the original first.. both are awesome, i think..

  • somehow, i think the bridge to terabithia version is better..

  • For 13 people, someday will never come.

  • loVe this song...

  • I find him sexy haha and this is my mamas kinda music

  • you will someday

  • " Someday I'm finally gonna let go ..."

" I'm gonna get out of here someday ...someday "

  • @MurderByFluoride

he might be a communist possibly. but he's correct in what he said, and i agree with him every man has a right to respect even if it makes me vomit when i say it but fascist little scum bags too. world war 2 was fought to kill off the extreme right wing and if your gonna say that every vetran was wrong to go to give minorities rights then you need a reality check. and before you call me communist, i am. my political views don't affect you so get a grip.

  • @sgbigsby1989

My guess is that Steve would say he is a democratic socialist, not a communist, if you asked him to be more precise - but he does say he is a socialist. But yep - he is pretty much right about politics in my opinion. Sad we live in a country where people know so little they call Obama a socialist.

  • @nilradem cause our government is trash, and it probley always will be.. honestly we dont have as many rights as we used to and the government doesnt follow the constitution.. USA is becoming a wasteland

  • @sgbigsby1989 How can you say WWII was fought to "Kill off the extreme right wing"? Brother that was a fight to correct the subjugation of the PLANET. If we sat back and let things play out where do you think that story would have ended? I'll give a slight clue...in a VERY bad place.

    Please wake up.

  • Springsteen-esque lyrics.

  • right now i am 15 years old when i am old man i am gonna sit outside my porch

    listen to steve earle someday

  • Once, we were young...now we can't wait to get back to that little town...even if we were never there before...except in our minds.

  • Steve Earle rules!!! This is a very super song!

  • My favorite song!!! ;)

  • I have to say , as a future doctoral student, this song represents everything I've felt about leaving my hometown. Fuck those who say Steve Earle isn't a good songwriter. Maybe they where born in too big of a town.

  • "Someday" I'll burn vevo's company!!!

  • ahhhh xxxx

  • Someday i'm finally gonna let go

    'cause i know there's a better way

And i wanna know what's over that rainbow

I'm gonna get out of here someday

    T-T

  • @jazmisabel never lose hope..........

  • west neds some ass whipping, lmao,to funny man

  • Steve Earl got me into Country Music, God bless his cotton socks.

  • good times..good times..

  • When country was real and you could really feel the words deep in your soul. Old school.

  • When I was out playing on the road I found this tape in one of those all night truck stops with the greasy chili dogs and the tired looking guy behind the counter. I bought the tape and put it in the casette player and drove all night and played it over and over again until the other guys in the band said "Hey...no more." Next night they were saying :Hey, put that tape in." Steve Earle's music is kinda like that. Still listen to the tape.

  • @56captvideo steve earle is the kind of artist that grows on you and you like every song he has. And he has a lot of em!

  • Loved the 80's. Brings back some great memories.. I'm gonna see Steve Earle in about 2 weeks!!

  • Somday is the perfect song for what everybody goes through we all want to get away and never look back i know i want to just leave it all behind does anybody agree with me!!!!!!.

  • This song has always haunted me...in a good way.

I wish I knew Steve Earle's address. I'd send him a video of my life since I heard this song. I'd show him how poor I was; I joined the military with one pair of pants (jeans that were almost white from washing them) and show him how hard I tried to make myself better.

I'd show him the day I was married, and then the miracle of my Daughter's birth. I'd show him a lot of things. Steve was with me whether he knew it or not...the whole way.

  • @Prometheus1st I know im way late on this, but all i have to say is your story is inspiring and best of luck to you. As a singer songwriter bent on nashville or texas i know im gonna have it rough but with Steves music with me,,, man he can help me through anything just through a song, great musician and a great man. I hope your doing well and best of luck and God Bless to you, -Jeff

We all know you can act bad and run your lip to the ladies........T. Swift....... Well guys thats where im at over here in my head.... What do you guys think? Do Tell..

  • @MurderByFluoride and juicein TheDurango

Steve Earle would be the first person to call you two out as a racists. It is not about political correctness, but basic human respect.

And juice - your family must have kids pretty young if your grandparents were growing up in 1986.

  • I'm only 16, and all this new age rap and shit is nothing compared to music like this. It actually has a meaning to it, and tells a story.

  • must have been 10 black men get over it this is america our grandparents were raised on this music

  • Could i maybe get the MP3 for this song? it would be highly appreciated

  • y the fuck is brittney spears on the side

  • Incredible how Steve Earle never reached the top, one of the best american songwriters ever, sometimes he can be better than John Cougar Mellencamp or even Springsteen.

  • This video reminds me of the movie "Bridge to Terabithia". I love it!! Made me cry like a baby T_T

  • 10 people can eat a dick!!

  • I used to listen to Essential Steve back in High School every day. Twelve years after graduation, and I wish I was back home instead of in Nashville, lol.

  • when i leave, i wish i will never feel the need to come back

  • This song is from my dads generation of music but everytime I borrowed his vehicle this cd was already loaded, so I would just play this song over and over because it's just that good!

  • Yeah right I left home at 17 after 18 years I bought the house I grew up in. All you want to do is go back home. By the way I've never been happier!!!!

Fantastic lyrics from a great artist

  • amazing(:

  • une super musique !

  • You cannot beat Steve Earle in so many ways. I saw him at Rockefeller's in Houston in the 1980s--SOLO--one of the most awesome performances I've ever seen. If you spend some time in his home town, Schertz, Texas, it might help some of you "get" it.

  • You cannot beat Steve Earle in so many ways. I saw him at Rockefeller's in Houston in the 1980s--SOLO--one of the most awesome performances I've ever seen.

  • i hate this version prefer zoeeeeeeeeyyyy<3

  • @punketa32

Then go away and listen to that... and have some respect for the songwriter.

  • @nilradem youre right. but still ZOEEEYYY is thaa best!

  • Grew up on the REZ. This song brings back alot of memories of my boarding school days in Greaswood AZ. I'm from Klagetoh AZ. COWBOY UP...

  • @jaybee6264 Wish i grew up in the ear this song came out, i know it was hard, but alot of original memories came out of having the time of your life, when all you wanna do is leave home and make an name for yourself, then all you want is home. I lived on the rez all my life i am 24 now just finally left 4 months ago and i am on my own with two kids, and i just want to go home, but u gotta sacrifice in order to get ahead.

  • @MzDevian Sorry but what do mean by "rez" surely you don't mean reservation?

as a Scot I find it hard to take in that the still exists in todays culture

    ]

  • @ScotsLyon

MzDevian can speak for herself... but the reservations remain in the US and Canada. Native groups still own and live on lands that were "given" to them (that is, were lands whites were willing to set aside.) On one hand, there is a significant level of self-governance and the ability to maintain culture. No one is legally forced to live there. On the other, many native peoples are impoverished and forced by economics to remain. The poorest counties in the US are reservations.

  • @nilradem And Yes we are not forced to live their but, home is where the heart is and i do wish i grew up in the city so i can get a headstart in life, but i am adjuting just fine, it's not like we are totally down and out and can't fend for our selves.

  • @ScotsLyon Umm By the "Rez" i meant reserve, thats what we call them in Canada, we don't call them reservations like USA does.

  • This man is awesome!!!!!!!!

  • @iveybabyable Check out his son. Justin Townes Earle. He's awsome!

  • @iveybabyable Check out his son. Justin Townes Earle. He's awsome! "Maybe" as good or even better than his dad. But, you didn't hear me say it. Okay yeah, sure I'll own it.

  • @selome101 yeah same, thats a pree sick movie!

  • Comment removed

  • Great Song!!

  • He rocks :3

  • its da bomb

  • That's a great tune!!

  • Well though it's maybe gone for some, at least I can slam about 30 Cold Ones and have some cool ass memories as I met this Dude around '78-79 in So. Ill IIRC and he's a cool Bro and plays a mean Guitar for real! The kinda Bro that would just show up like Joe Blow and then well Blow 'em all away w/ some bad ass crazy cool music and leave before they knew what hit 'em...true story no bs...
