Fantastic! Joachim's famous student played completely different than the "high priest of music". I know the double-cd by Testament with the Joachim-recordings. But Auer isn't on it. Where did you get this recording?? Thank you for posting this interresting piece of music history!!
How did you get this recording, it should be a museum piece i think, but thank you profusely for it. He of course is the king of kings in violinspeak.

was a Hungarian violinist, teacher, cnductor and composer.

Wonderful to hear a recording of Auer, but I think as far as this recording is concerened, technical virtuosity 1, musical taste 0.
Compare this to Joachim's 1903 recording.

Fantastic violinist. Auer´s great grand doughter were Ilya Gringolt´s violin teacher at the St. Petersburg Special Music School.
