  • A fascinating historic recording !!

  • Leopold Auer(1845-1930)

was a Hungarian violinist, teacher, cnductor and composer.

wow! Amazing performance!!! Thank you pochetta1 for sharing.

  • Wow, I thought I'd never get to hear Auer.. Didn't know any recordings existed.. He was taught by the best and is indirectly the teacher of all today's virtuosos

  • So much energy and technique from a 75-year-old man! I'm blown away!

  • Amazing!!!!!

  • Bravo! Cheers from Brazil

  • can't believe this is on youtube. wonderful! apparently this and souvenir are the only auer recordings still in existence. ca. 1920.

  • Awesome! TY.

  • Wonderful to hear a recording of Auer, but I think as far as this recording is concerened, technical virtuosity 1, musical taste 0.

Compare this to Joachim's 1903 recording.

  • Incredible to hear.

I had no idea any recording of Auer existed.

    Thank you, pochetta.

Thank you for posting this, pochetta.

  • This is fabulous but I have to agree that Joachim's version is more appealing. I am really glad you posted this. Did Heifetz actually listen to his teacher?

  • Fantastic! Joachim's famous student played completely different than the "high priest of music". I know the double-cd by Testament with the Joachim-recordings. But Auer isn't on it. Where did you get this recording?? Thank you for posting this interresting piece of music history!!

  • Wow! It's easy to see where Toscha Seidel got his interpretation from!

  • Fantastic violinist. Auer´s great grand doughter were Ilya Gringolt´s violin teacher at the St. Petersburg Special Music School.

  • never heard of it. How do you know? Can I read of it somewhere? (that Liberova is Auer's descendant)

  • I have sent you an article, there you can read about it.

  • thank you

  • Thanks for posting this! And this is really interesting, because it's easy to hear that he is the teacher of f.ex. Heifetz ;D

  • How did you get this recording, it should be a museum piece i think, but thank you profusely for it. He of course is the king of kings in violinspeak.

  • このバイオリニストによる演奏でおそらくはブラームスもきいたのでしょうね。

  • the LEGENDARY Leopold Auer

  • OMG! just amazing

  • But still prefer Jaochim's version !
