No, actually it couldn't. Because it isn't ghost in the shell (they were cyborgs except the ghost who was never human to begin with. As for matrix, again "NO" since that was humans as slaves.

Obviously this doesn't look like I-robot. If anything it has the same concept of the matrix where you are plugged in and using your mind to control a virtual or robot version of yourself. At least this movie has some sort of feasibility whereas the matrix's concept was completely out there.
