Just a curiousity, how come all csx crossing bells stop ringing once the gates are down because I want to know also why BNSF and Union Pacific crossing bells continue to ring even when the gates are down?
I don't know. The Gateless crossing is not owned by CSX. Union Pacific does shuts their bells off when the gates are down, but they ring when they rise. BNSF is the only railroad I know of that doesn't shut the bells off when the gates are down.
Actually it depends on the location of the crossing more than the company. RR crossings in the south and south-east US mostly have the bell shut off when the gates are down. The rest of the US mostly have the bells constantly ringing.
We have a mix of CSX and others. All crossings shut the bell of until about 4 yrs ago. They changed one crossing, and I assume it has to do with visibility, likelihood of pedestrians, and several nearby driveways that limit ones view of the lights/gate. Also, I think the decision on which way to go when it doesn't matter is a coin flip, but that's just me.
If there was a lot of traffic on the road this double crossing could be dangerous! Imagine a traffic jam and two trains! What do you think bout it?

Well, the FCEN crossing could have some new cantilevers, but there's a parking lot on the other side, making it impossible.

If it were in canada the crossbuck would have a Red trim on the outside and wouldn't say Railroad Crossing on the front of it.

The exception is that all ungated crossings have bells that constantly ring.
