I am one of very few of my generation to grow up around rock and roll...my dogs were named after axl slash and izzy. And i soooo wanted chinese democracy to be good. I wanted to hear GnR again.

When i got that album on release day, i stuck it in my cd player and it was THE most anti-climatic sound in the universe.

I occasionally listen to a remixed version that mixes Slash, VR and new GnR. Its leagues better

It explores new grounds with tracks like Shackler's Revenge and Sorry, sticks to the hard rock roots of GNR with like IRS and Chinese Democracy and There Was A Time, has amazing ballads like This I Love and Street of Dreams, and so much more. Axl Rose has never sounded better, his singing technique is fantastic and he's still great live. For me it's the 3rd best GNR album after Appetite and Illusion1 and a fantastic album all around,

And as for Axls voice, his life long use of Falsetto and grinding has damaged his vocal tracks to the point he now sounds like a high pitched ozzy but nowhere near as awesome. He may sound ok live, when he gets there and if he doesnt leave.

Oh and exploring new grounds i appreciate, as long as its not exploring punk grounds
