  • wow could you imagine how painful it would be to be nailed down in place and then feel your skin sliced away? Im not saying dont eat it, im saying kill it first! Geez it will still be fresh if it dies a few seconds before you slice its skin off. does no one see this as torture? like it or not that eel can feel whats happening and its in pain the last few miserable seconds of its life. how cruel.

  • @MimiMadness94

Why don't you get a gun and go into the wild to mercy kill all the animals getting killed slowly and painfully then before you start criticizing people. Stop trying to force you're own beliefs onto others, even if you're "right".

Before you call that cruel, The cows that are herded for milk are forced to have baby calves every year to maximize productivity. What happens to the calves? They don't get fed, and they get sent to other companies to be killed.

    They don't even get FED.

  • This guy is good

  • now that is some awesome fresh eel. cant complain about the prep, it was humanely dispatched. thing is, i have seen the same thing when crab and lobsters are prepared for consumption. is too bad those with negative opinions have to yap about that which they dont understand. awesome vid. thanks.

  • very cool knife what is it called

  • Why dont they kill the eel first?

  • These comments show how desensitized the internet has made people to stuff like this. I dunno if thats a good or a bad thing.

  • @iPhTx3 This video has elicited a lot of negative/hate comments as well. But since I don't allow profanity, racist remarks, and other offensive comments, such comments have not been approved to appear here. Rest assured, many people have been shocked/offended by this video.

  • I would not like to reincarnate as anything that Asians like to eat

  • try doing this yourself and it will take ages for you to prepare one. just look at the time taken for him to slice one perferctly! amazing!

  • SUSHI

  • The Guy I've seen. Way quicker

  • Mmmmm

  • sick this should not happen

  • @Dunham8500 Do you like chicken? do you like steak? how about Ham? congrats, to eat, an animal has to be put down no matter what.

  • @Dunham8500 its fish it aint sick

  • You can cut the eals head off, it still moves, I am against cooking or eating living animals, but this eal is dead before ho cuts it.

  • It's food folks! Not capitol punishment! I'm sure that carrot you just ate screamed in silent agony when the top was cut, was peeled, sliced, and stir fryed as well.

Either way, that took some amazing talent!

  • @BillyJoe316 Screaming Carrots....Best... Band.... Name...EVER

  • @BillyJoe316 lol! Well said bro :)

  • very nice eel fabrication techniques.

  • Thats skill

  • Hey... I do that in Cooking Mama 2 8D But the eel is dead... so yeah

  • Tasty.

  • I choose death.... BUT FIRST UGOO!!!!!

  • there's an old saying that "it takes you a year to learn how to kill it, it takes you three years how to skewer it, and it takes you the rest of your life to learn how to grill it"

this video shows how professionally and swiftly this process is done by real chefs

  • poor eel :( now people! ENJOY EATING THE POOR DEAD EEL i agree to the top comment

  • ah.. unagi!

  • wow he's good!

  • Jeez guys stop ripping on Asians i'm Asian not all Asians eat living stuff like that. Its their culture people in the Australia and New Zealand area groan about how Americans eat Peanut Butter and Jelly don't bealive? me go to Australia we Americans think are food is normal well its the same in other contries.

  • i think i just lost my apitite, :L

  • they should of killed it first

  • @guns102 they did

  • How do you think we get beef, pork, or even salmon? The fish die the same way. You just don't see it.

  • why the fkin thumbs down? this aint torture. this is a butcher killing the eel in a swift way. i'll bet over 90% of the thumbs down ppl is probably eating a fkin hamburger right now.

  • Who's here because of FRIENDS??

  • @erotomane2000 Unagi, lol

  • DANGER, DAAANGER!

    Aah... salmon skin roll.

  • @TheIncredibleD1701 lol i just watched that episode before i saw this video. <3 friends

  • poor thing

  • It smells Hella nasty

  • Yum sushi :3

  • look at my channel for cutting live eels in valencia spain for eating

  • YUMMY SO FRESH :D

  • Thumbs up if you're here because of Friends.

  • man, this is inhumane cuz why dont you just kill it?

  • @Samucsty2010 so it will be more fresh

  • @Samucsty2010 its dead, if u r an eel, u dont have a large brain (less feeling), but instead u have a more active spinal core, which makes u move even after death. same thing with all the other non-mammal animals... jeez, did these "animal lovers" today pass their gr 10 biology?? and really, consuming certain animals is totally a cultural thing, as long as they dont threaten the species (like sharks fin endangers sharks), just let them eat what they want...

  • Looks so yummy. I want some eel now.

  • i love unagi :)

  • I wonder how many eels he ruined until he learned to cut that precise..

  • @AirsoftGunReviews4U

    probably none. hes asian

  • @AirsoftGunReviews4U

o.o even if he ruined some eels they could still cook them into different dishes. It's not like Unagi was the only dish you could make with eel. ~

  • thats a pretty nice cut. is it the knife thats too sharp or is it the chef thats so skilled? actually i think its a little bit of both

  • i don't see where the problem is...about killing it. Its normal. some people (mostly americans) find killing an animal cruel and grotesque.....

  • it would freak me out seeing it in person more, but eel is good, i just never knew how it was made. awe it moved....but people have to eat i'd rather kill it than let someone starve

  • yum yum ...

  • And that, people, is how unagi sushi is ready to be made.

  • Guys eels don't taste bad whatsoever. Have you ever had calamari? Well it's similar to that texture but only squishier. I get eel cucumber sushi and it's really delicious, they fry it so it adds flavor and is crispier. Don't say it's gross if you've never tried it.

It's the same as eating crab or lobster, this is more exotic to you.

  • That's some serious skills right there.

  • See how he aimed for the head first for massive damage?

  • nom nom

    China Food ©

  • @rinaldowmen

Japanese food to be exact. Do some research.

  • ide eat that

  • It's still moving when the chef sliced off half it's body :(

    must have been so painful...

  • I wonder how eel taste. That looks tasty. >:3

  • @dearestjen It must taste eew

  • @GordoSozinho It actually is some of the best fish out there i ate. Unagi is cooked and you can eat it's bones.

  • i played this in cooking mama! lol

  • WHY HE DIDNT GET SHOCKED

  • @MsPrettygirlswag3 ... not all eel are electric.

  • That looks so good

  • wow hes quick

  • Eel is really delicious.

  • Amazing knife work! And looks delicious!

  • Sucks to be that eel

  • wow that looks good, love eel

  • i live asian culturs i wish i lived there

  • well it died now

  • so sad of it

  • POKE IT!

  • that's only fresh eel, and if it even was alive (it is not) what about it? fresh fish... or do you fish dead fish or do you hunt dead deer for food?

you know, that would be really disgusting...

  • Japanese are wonderful people towards animals.Anybody saying that they are even worse than westerners makes propaganda. They are the most loving caring people in the world and they NEVER EVER EVER torture their food.

  • lol the dude grabbed the 2nd eel and was like Shoot Ap i keel joo!!!

  • Is Unagi like sushi or something?

  • @YumNumMmm no unagi is fresh water eel. sushi is rice.

  • @YumNumMmm Yes, EEL sushi.

  • oh god..i think i'm gonna faint~ x.x

mm but i'm thinking of the aftermath...mm :P

  • to everyone whose worried about the eel being in pain it definately only felt, maybe a minute of pain, once it gets its head chopped off it dies in about a minute or two

  • at least kill it first...WHY does it have to be alive? WHY??

  • @vaggs003 actually they kill it in a fast way in they begin of the video, all the move after it actually nerve.

  • OMG i hope it felt no pain at all.....(even though i know it did) i just hope this kind of torture stops. Pain is Pain no matter who its directed to

  • He's very good with that knife. Cool...

  • Now THAT'S skill!

  • lighten up people. all underwater creatures are eaten alive by their natural predators in the most gruesome ways, so how inhumane is it really? Have you seen how we slaughter cows? We kill them with a nail bolt to the head, slit their throat, then let them die on the floor, millions of them, for human consumption, YOUR food. Cultural relevance people. Educate yourselves.

  • @JohNaKaAgilA You've got a valid point man.

  • @JohNaKaAgilA its true what you are saying buy their natural predators do not FRY half their bodies then pick at the cooked part while the head gasps for water.

  • @JohNaKaAgilA well im a vegan for my reasons, i think its inhumane how we treat the animals before we consume them...like wtf were killing them for US lets have respect for the animals

  • @JohNaKaAgilA "Natural predators" would obviously be inhumane, as they are not human. Also, a properly slaughtered cow should die as painless a death as scientifically possible at the moment. The bolt is a form of stunning the animal insensible. You should note that there are objective metrics for stress, and that thanks to the help of Temple Grandin and others in her field, the stress placed on animals pre-slaughter has been greatly reduced. Abuse still occurs though, unfortunately.

  • @metaleggman18 I absolutely agree with your point. This is unnecessary torture.

  • @jleer1 TORTURE? you're an idiot. get a dictionary-this is NOT torture.

  • @metaleggman18 ...so according to you if the bolt is a proper way of stunning the cow what do you think is going through the eel's head? It doesn't take an expert to know that a cow would feel much more pain during any method of slaughter than an eel. The only thing those two animals have in common is that they are both INCREDIBLY TASTY!

  • @JohNaKaAgilA It's dead already? Those movements are merely reflexes as all fish have very strong muscles, and they flex when they are dead. How we kill cows isn't humane, they are shot in the head with a bolt gun, which renders them paralyzed, unable to feel a thing, and unable to even be aware of its existence, it is theoretically dead with in milliseconds of taking the bolt gun to the head. They then have their jugular arteries slit, It dies within 5 seconds. This is a very humane way to kill

  • @JohNaKaAgilA Buddha did teaches us to slaughter animal alive???

  • Eel sushi tastes to damn good <3 <3 my fav stuff

  • @xXBlackAwpsGawdXx You bet, watching this just make me hungry!

  • Why don't the eels shock him? Are they not electric eels?

  • Danger!! Ahh Unagui!

  • Wow, cool video ... You should make it a bit longer and show the end product/result....

  • Lol

  • do you guys catch them or are they like shipped ion live

  • Well, I guess if you've done not much else all day long for your entire life, you get fast like this.

  • i know it may taste good but come on cut animals some slack

  • The fresher the better! Remember, oysters are still alive when shucked & placed on ice to be eaten too. And lobster is usually NOT killed before it is dropped into boiling water, which would be redundant.

Fresh water fishermen generally keep their catch alive too until they are ready to clean it. Sure, they might cut the head off first, but many catfish are cleaned after the head is spiked with a nail and then gutted while the fish is still active then skinned.

    Thanks for the video!

  • did any one notice to thing moving on the bottom of the screen at :13-:15

  • @fishingbud1 It's light beading off the liquids on the cutting board

  • now thats FRESH!

  • wow really kool, hes good.....

This is wat u call "Fresh Meat"

    Lolz

  • why do you slice it live instead of killing it first by taking off its head?

  • Eye is hungary nao

  • THAT IS WHAT I CALL 8 PIECE UNAGIS SUSHI ROLL

  • he's really professional, he did it so fast..

  • oh lawd, luk at der meet! deerp!

  • this is why there is fishing bans

  • Hey, at least they aren't eating baby cows injected with random hormones to make them adults in a few days. Or getting chickens that got too old and turning them into nuggets. Or turning random animal body parts into hotdogs.

    So...yeah.

  • Up to now I still can't understand why they can't kill the poor thing first before tearing it apart alive

  • @Gurizin It's dead by the time the knife goes through the brain. Seen at the 0:01 mark if you missed that.

  • @Gurizin it is dead it is just nerves

  • I felt bad at the beginning but it's a Japanese tradition so I suppose it's good?

  • How do they cook it????....I want to eat some

  • @capricornforever It's usually grilled or at least thats the best way to have it.

  • do they at least wash the blood off or does it add taste?

  • i wonder how that tastes

  • @Wolfen921 fish :p like nice grilled fish :)

  • YUMMY!

  • it's so cruel

  • ew.

  • @greyhall1 So, do you mean to argue that nothing is "meant to be eaten?"

  • Folks, keep in mind that comments on all my videos are subject to approval. If it contains any profanity, racist remarks, or anything offensive, it will not be approved and won't appear here.

  • Wow. I always liked unagi rolls and rice bowls. Tastes good with soy sauce.

  • Wow. I always liked unagi rolls and rice bowls. Tastes good with soy sauce.

  • i love how ppl r trying to sound like such great ppl and being aagainst this "cruelty" but they obviously wanted to watch the video because they clicked on it. those noobs

  • That is an excellent point.

  • that was brutal.

  • Can't get any fresher than this

  • I feel sorry for the eel, but it's very tasty so I don't feel sorry enough to join some SAVE THE EELS club XD They're just fish and fish are meant to be eaten. It's a fact.

  • @animegoddess001 Fish are not "meant to be eaten". You just WANT to eat them. If superior beings came to earth maybe they'd decide that YOU are meant to be eaten.

  • @greyhall1 But humans taste nasty and fish taste good :)

  • dammit least kill the poor thing before it feel pain

  • The thymus, which detects pain in creatures, is not as developed in fish, crustaceans, and eels as it is in mammals. It is questionable just how much pain it feels. Cleaning the animal alive is also more sanitary because it does not allow bacteria living on the skin to multiply. Fish and seafood spoils very quickly. That's why sushi can be eaten raw, because it is that fresh.

  • @HomeworkHelper1

I hope you don't really help anybody with their homework. The Thymus is an organ involved in T-Lymphocyte production and has nothing to do with pain reception; it's not even a part of the brain.

Pain is one of the most important survival mechanisms, evolutionarily speaking. Of course eels feel pain, just like your or I would.

Pain is one of the most important survival mechanisms, evolutionarily speaking. Of course eels feel pain, just like your or I would. Unless the spinal cord is cut, you can't say with any certainty whether a creature feels pain or not.

  • @xsaberwolfx2

It did. The head was given a blow.

  • @xsaberwolfx2 o thay do thay cut the neck so thay die it is just the nerves moveing

  • @xsaberwolfx2 if you cut the head off first, there isn't a point of attachment to keep the eel from sliding are you cut.

sure you could stake a knife in the body after the head is cut off but then the body is ruined in terms of presentation later

  • @xsaberwolfx2 Actually it is dead. If you take a close look near the head of the Eel before he inserts the pin, there is a very large gash through its neck. The cook here severs the spinal cord before he begins preparing the eel for cooking. Severing the spinal cord and major arteries kills the eel within 2-3 seconds.

  • @ManUrManners Really? It's kills it straight away? Phew, I felt really terrible watching the video. How painful it looks. :(

  • @ManUrManners The eels are cold blooded. Maybe they died in some seconds more, but it's true: if they cut the spinal cord, they do not feel from that point.

  • ugh the japanese.....or chinese, either one

  • disgusting. All animals shall live! except chickens. Yumm!

  • poor UNAGI
