  • Instead of raping black tap around the scriew driver,,,you can use the handle side to press the board to find out dry solder,,,,,

  • @lifeboy6969 watch the whole video and you'll see the reason for the wrapping of black tape around the skinny side of the screw driver.

  • plasma give a wonderful picture but theres just sooo much problem that can go with a plasma witch is why i stay far far far away from plasma because i feel there just money pits when they brake .

  • you could just reflow the board with a heat gun

  • @12344richard - yes, very smart comment- thumbs up.

  • @12344richard Or stick it in the oven for 10min

  • could you stick, say a folded up piece of paper in between the boards so its applying that pressure, i just want to know cos im gna sell my tv, which has the ssame problem, to a pawn shop, and since they rip everyone off, i wanna teach em a little lesson aha

  • THAT'S NOT MY PROBLEM MY PROBLEM IS MY LEFT SIDE OF MY SCREEN IS PARTIALLY BLACK AND MY RIGHT SIDE IS PERFECT... AND IT AN LG PLASMA TV I THINK ITS A 42" (MODEL # IS 42PC3DV-UD) ANY HELP WOULD BE AWESOME

  • @venyram0406 - check inverter board or ribbon cables connections but sometimes it can be bad panel screen, call lg to see if there was a recall on the panels, some sony tvs had this issue too.

  • @Tampatec plasma TVs don't have inverter boards.

  • @Tampatec Its a PSU not an Inverter, Inverter brings the voltage up from a lower one... They do the opposite, But you may be right with a Plasma because the panel needs a mass amount of voltage

  • @venyram0406 caps

  • Good stuff. I take exception to one point, though. You don't need a 40 watt soldering iron for fixing PC board joints, and you DEFINITELY don't want to use a 60 watt iron. Any 15, 20, or 25 watt iron is more than adequate. These cheap irons are not temperature controlled, so you don't want to use a high power iron.

  • @tubewinkle - i got 30watt & 40 watt solderguns, for soldering heatsinks i use 40 watt n for small parts (caps) i use 30watt solldergun

  • @tubewinkle If its not unsoldering with a little bit of heat, you may need to add flux. Too much heat can destroy boards and components. (But it will need quite a bit of heat.)

  • It works better if you stand in water.

  • Hey man, one question. i have LG PC1RR, but mine problem is like, i see red dots all over the screen. for example, when im changing channels, in the black screen between chanels, you can see tv logo from previous channel like siluete, or 4.e when is movie little bit dark, red dots are all over tv. someone told me that this red dots are dead pixels and u cant fix it. please, response me if u have a clue what can it be? :)

and btw, sry for my bad english.

    peace!

  • If you don't know what a solder joint is, you shouldn't be opening your tv up.

  • plasma tv's suck. they overheat the parts. look at the back of them. everything is crammed. basically computer boards. Imagine the lifespan of a computer if motherboards were crammed like that.

bad engineering. they should put all of these boards in it's own case with a fan to increase lifespan.

solder joints = lol. what a joke.

  • @Ibringthetruth1 You can definitely mod your TV to have more fans (they don't need their own case, just more cooling) but more mechanical parts mean that you'll need to change those every so often also. (Fans die. But yes, they are likely easier to replace.)

  • Until today I never knew solder was pronounced 'sod-er' in the US. (pronounced sold-er everywhere else). So I did learn something. Thanks.

  • @TheDiggityDNG - In USa that not the only word we butcher.

  • @TheDiggityDNG

    love the humor nice one

  • Camere moving too fast.

  • It didn't help because I don't have a flat screen tv...

  • all you need is the cheap radio shack 30-35 watt iron, 60 watts it too hot for stuff like this

  • 1. Return that PEICE of shit to the store

    2. Troll LG about how much they suck

    3. Get a Panasonic

  • Hey great video:) I'll sub ya:).

Now to my question, I have an odd brand called "vestel" model 4210. It also has 2 black lines going up to down. Sometimes they disapear. Is this then also a soldeer matter?. p.s where could i find a layout on internet of the tv? Its like it don't exist:(

Thanks in advanced.Keep up the imba video's m8

  • @trancelistic - basically color vertical bars is likey the con-board but black vertical bars might be the bad panel connection. squeeze around the frame of the tv to see if it's that.

  • @Tampatec Thanks for your reply. I'm not sure if I'm supoose to communicate with you this way. But, following your advice, it means I've to remove the back panel (of the house/case) of the tv? Then try some sqeezing/wires here and there?. Also note. Can I do that while the tv is powerd on?. I do have knowledge about, shortcuts and electricity. I'm just confused if its save or not (for the mainboard and chips)to try that. I'll wear special gloves and use if nesaserry a taped screwdriver. thanks

  • Hi, I have a LG 50PX1D-UC and it has developed two black ribbon lines on the top middle of the screen. I have been looking for a way to fix this without spending 500.00 (according to what I've been told!). I have seen a couple of different videos that point to different fixes. Hope you can shed a little light on my issue. Thanks and very cool of you to do what you're doing!

  • @wrhsonwheels - well con- board will cost $100-$300 plus labor costs if a tv shop repairs it, but this black friday 51" samsung tv for $498! is a better choice Walmart & bestbuy deals check out my video on black friday deals. goodluck

  • Another note: LG is one of the manufacturers who get their parts from the lowest bidder. Which usually means it's the lowest quality parts. If you are going to replace capacitors, use parts from a known brand with a great review. Generally I replace ALL of the caps on the power supply board whether they are good or bad. The result : a TV or monitor that lasts 2x's longer than when it first broke ( if it died at 3 years I get 6 or more years- actually it never dies again on me) .

  • i like because awesome view. never saw the inside of a plasma

  • hi, i have LG plazma 42 pq60 its flickering some time . Warranty expired

so how can i fix it. i think it will be Capacitor problem . when i check all Capacitors i didn't see any problem it's look like all ok . can u help me?

  • @altobaz , not all bad caps bulged try to test them if you can with a in-circuit capacitor meter, or just buy the power supply at searsdirectparts. read the volts coming off the powersupply see if it's outputting dc volts.

  • @Tampatec Thanks, I will try it

  • hi there, i have a sanyo plasma that has recently started to not work. when you hit the power button it will display everything for about a second and turn blank and will stay on for about 30 sec and then power off. if u have any idea what this could be it would really help me out oh and how whould i fix it. thanks alot.

  • @iPhoneNemesis - open the back & look at the powersupply check for bulged caps in power supply like in my other videos , how to fix philips plasma tv

  • Hello Tampa Tec... LG plasma # 42PC1DA-UB - no picture... sound works great - any thoughts. Also how long do you think (average use) the new electronics should last??? thanks

  • @calrow99 , no picture on all video sources, its usaully the video board or control board like seen in the vid.

  • been trying to see if i can find a fix for my lg 50ps70..but no luck finding any info..

ever since new set would appear to auto adjust slightly after abt 5 minutes of usage then.. at 15 month mark..... turn set on..lots of red dots all over screen

also at turn on.. bottom 25% of screen... green hue then after abt 5 minutes

it turns to pink hue.. facial colours all wrong.. splotchy and dark.. especiall if bacround is light.. not as bad with dark background.. any help appreciated!!

  • Not as sophisticated, but if you just put something there to apply the pressure all the time, than you have it fixed, in 10 sec, and you don't even have to take it apart or solder, and risk of shoring out something if you are clumsy, or you not even have a soldering iron. :)

  • Dude U ROCCKKKKKK!!!! THANK YOU SOOOO MUCHH MAN!!

Do you have a paypal donation a/c???????

  • @meherdad -cool thx, on my tampatec.blogspot.com on the right side of website. I'll do more repair vids for you later.

  • all ways keep a wet sponge going - to clean your solder-tip. Keeping it clean - free of glommed solder - goes a long way toward making a nice clean re-solder. Run hot and clean and occassionally dip into your flux (and wipe clean on sponge) then briefly re-dip into flux and now apply iron to suspicious-looking, potentially defective solder joints.

  • what if my tv is cracked like it's all blue and red cross lines the tv still works but how do I get all the cross lined lines out it takes up half the tv and mine is a 42".

  • half my screen is black half shows the pictures any idea what it could be?

side to side not top to bottom

  • Good luck soldering the joints with an iron on the BGA chip, these are the joints that fail and you can't get to them, the same fault that causes the PS3 YLoD, for the repair of that fault you need a BGA rework machine to do it proper or a heat gun and a good nose like mine, being an ex LG UK plasma expert I've fixed thousands of LG Plasmas and I've never come across a dry jointed surface mount resistor or cap on the CTRL_OUT board, always BGA faults, you gotta love BGA soldeing pain in the butt

  • I have a lg 50pg20 (50") and it is perfect sound but the screen went black... Is it the motherboard/tcon???

  • @sm23280 Hi no it will be the YSUS board, a large component under the heatsink has gone short killing it and a fuse, replace the regulator module and the fuse on the YSUS and it wil work again, sometimes it can be the ZSUS (which has same module nd fuse) but 99% of the time the YSUS, same fault as the 42PC1D (google it) same thing but differant parts needed to fix as the module is differant model.

  • Hey I have a 42EDT41 Hitachi plasma t.v that is buzzing at even the highest volume. I tried messing with the settings and have tried everything and I can't find any solution. Any ideas? thanks

  • Wedge that screwdriver or something in there and hot glue it, LOL.

  • what if my tv is grainy, how do i fix the grainy screen

  • @jorgesasuke if it's grainy on all tv inputs then it could be a leaky cap in power supply, but if it's grainy only on cable channels it might be cable box or bad hdmi or if the coax cable goes straight to your tv and not cable box then check your coax cable, connect it to a small tv, if it looks better on that small tv then it could be the tv tuner problem.

  • @Tampatec what do I do if its a leaky cap on the power supply?

  • I was told by the shop that the IPM was failing on the X sustain board.has pic but is covered by large color masses with good sound.I have found X left,X center and X right,is it one of these boards? Please help

  • what did you resolder on the board anyone are just all the solder joint

  • @bottel01 i soldered it but didn't last so i sent the board to to be repaired.

  • hey nice video i have an lg 42 inch the picture whent out but i still hear the sound if you could please help thanks

  • Ooooh.. Be real careful poking around with that screwy mate, even thought it's insulated with tape, it won't stop you getting shocked or frying boards/components if the tape should whilst using parts of the chassis as a lever point.

  • Hey i have a lg 42 inch tv and it seems to be stuck on stand by.. wen i turn it on it sort of clicks at the back to sort of start up then nothing on the tv.. its a 42PQ3000 and help would help

    thanks

  • @ThePs3modder that sounds like bad caps, you can get them at radio shack or online, type your model # in website fixit website

  • Question; I have a LG DU-42PX12X plasma with Half of the tv Screen in 12 color full vertical lines.

The other side of the TV is fine only has 1 red line?

    Can you help?

    Thanks!

  • @549silver it's pretty much same issue, but you can type the tv model # in google search repair world or fixit websit,

it's common but you can send the board in the get refurbished for under 100. it could be also the power going to that board is bad, just make sure you got the 5dc volts coming into the board. good luck,

-remember repairing your tv is good for the earth and you.

  • @549silver I know your post is old but it's likely your logic board. $115.00 on ebay.

  • Dear Tampatec,

I have a 50" LG plasma TV (LG RU50PZ61) and have some minor picture issues.

There are maybe couple of vertical lines (less than 1 mm each) that is colored (not black) and changes depending on what's showing on the screen. The lines only shows up on the bottom half of the TV.

What would be a probable cause for this problem? Thank you very much!

  • @scottlee67 same thing it will get worse, you can board swap, its the control board like in the video

  • What about a black screen

  • @renarthegenius Well does it have power and audio?

  • I have the same TV that has the blue line but the green color is also gone. Have you seen that before?

  • @babygirlskitz1 yes its common

  • @Tampatec contrl board needs to be replaced, as seen in my video

  • @babygirlskitz1 swap the control board if its the blue line vertical

  • nice repair video man, good tip for next time a get a free broken lcd.
