@poisonation...All of the sounds I played in this demo are preset sounds with no alterations. I believe for the money the sounds are excellent. I do prefer yahama's piano sounds to Korg but the MOX series is only 64 voice polyphony and the sequencer in the M50 is easy to use with touchscreen features.
I'm thinking of purchasing this keyboard. However, I remember trying the grand piano of the Korg M50 at guitar center and it really didn't sound good. But here it sounds great. Are you using any different settings?
@poisoNation It's Synthesizer man, no keyboard. You must add some effects to main m50 piano to get a real powerful sound of it. I have m50, in begins I had a problem too(i had keyboard before m50). It's a awesome machine
I have been doing a bit of research on this keyboard. I was almost hooked but I read in Sound on Sound Magazine that it does not have Midi time code (MTC) or midi machine code(MMC). What I want to know is, does it have Midi Clock or a sync track feature? Has anyone used this with a DAW, or midi connected it to another piece of gear? How was it for you in this regard? I connect various piece of my gear to layer sounds so this is important to me. cheers,
what programs/ settings are you using? are you using factory settings? or are your tones tweaked? Because my Korg M50 sounds cheap and toy like and I am NOT good at editing programs.
loved the piano piece at the start of the vid..love the clav piece...looove the organ piece!!love the bass licks!!love ending of the string piece!luuooove the orchestral piece!!!PLLZZ DO TUTORIALS?MAYBE THE PIANO PIECE AND THE ORGAN ONE FIRST BECUZ THEY COULD BE USED IN SERVICE..??
btw thanks so much for the review i didnt watch the whole of it till nw cuz my comp wasnt so good..it would be so cool if you could do tutorials on a few of the grooves you played in the review..would be nice especially that my church doesnt have a bass player..
I typically do not use presets as is but in this demo they are all presets. Some people do not like Korg acoustic sounds and that is okay. Just like the Ford and Chevy debate. But I believe good musician can work with any brand at least to some degree.
@propheticson1 Being here in Japan I only buy used gear. The M50 was found at a used music store for a rock bottom price which is why I jumped on it. I also have a Motif ES which is older I know but still gives me the Motif flavor. I liked the EPs, Organs, and piano sounds of the M50. I also like to play Neo-Soul, Funk, RnB, and Gospel. For practicing songs I thought the M50 was a great addition to my setup. Perhaps one day I'll see the MOX-6 for sale used. We'll see. Thanks!
Really nice demo, thanks! I like the M50 a lot, but it also has a new rival: the Yamaha MOX-6/7/8, which is also quite nice. It has the XS's sound engine and I like the split and layer buttons right on the front panel and their new USB audio/MIDI interface. I don't think anyone can touch the new Korg Kronos, with its 9 sound engines. Keep up the great job!
@BruinBrass I have to agree with you. The Yamaha MOX-6 is an excellent workstation. I actually prefer the yamaha sounds to korgs sounds because they are richer and the acoustic sounds are more realistic in my opinion. (Besides the Kronos which for now is in a league all by itself as far as I am concerned) I actually do use the motif sounds more than I do Korg. What really impressed me about the M50 is that I got is brand new for $899. The MOX-6 was $1200. So for the money M50.
@propheticson1 Guitar Center's been offering 15% off on various holidays, so the MOX6 can be had for a little over $1k. But, you scored a great deal on your M50, which has many great features that I, too, like a lot. And, yes, I totally agree with you re: the Kronos. I watched Korg's full-length video on it and did not once get bored, but only more blown away by it. Best wishes to you and yours and keep up the great playing. You sound terrific.

Propheticson1: Which COMBI U used for organ sound or what did U set as timbre 1 and timbre 2? BX-3? CX-1?

Hi there! Can you please put up a video tutorial on how to play the Lord's Prayer? It looks like you have the skills to play it well.

Are you using additional settings on your sounds?
I mean are you editing the programs or using factory settings?

Ok is something wrong with my Korg 50?
I find it does not sound professional at all.
Most of the acoustic tones sound cheap and fake.
I am not good at editing tones.
jspankin 7 months ago
Korg's acoustic sounds always suck. Even on the Oasys and Kronos, they sound awful.

Thanks very much for this great review. I just bought the limited edition blue version at a used music store. Works great!!

@JimAtwood Excellent! What kind of music do you play? What made you pick the Korg over the Yamaha MOX-6 which has very warm tones?
