You can put linux on almost anything that exists. However often you must trick the hardware and the reason for the solder bridge is probably to force a hard system boot or choose a different boot media. It's like hitting a key to choose to boot from CD or change your bios on a desktop machine.

It might as well not be fake. If you do your homework you'll find that Debian runs on the ARM processor just fine, and there are mobile linuxes out there that run just fine on mobile phones. Ubuntu is currently being ported to run on ARM.

Probably not fake at all, wonder why?

First, Nexperia, creator of the P990 SoC, released the drivers, and this makes porting linux much easier.

Second, the 2 points probably shutdown the GSM part, because it'll prevent it from booting the PDA part.

And third, the boot up speed is not too fast, because with the right choices, it'll boot much faster, and there's lots of other devices that use linux, like Set-Top Boxes, Cell phones, and other stuff, and they boot really fast.

Firstly, the modification done to the hardware is similar to that done to xbox.

About "adding a little wire and installing ubuntu", the guy obviously didn't just add that wire and installed ubuntu from nothing. After the modification, he installed ubuntu on the cellphone, but that part is NOT shown in the video (maybe the procedure was too long)

ma ho avuto a che fare con saldature e so per certo che la prima saldatura fatta in quel modo provoca danni mica da ridere, non ho avuto mai a che fare con un palmare ma a volte i movimenti col pennino sembrano fatti a caso.
