Other (non macaw) parrots like the fascinating kakapo from New Zealand are, indeed, more massive. Thanks for your comments.

Actually hyacinths are the largest flying parrot. Not the largest.

Some people love them for their looks. (The kind of people who realise they can't care for a large bird.)
