There is a big difference between graffiti artwork and random scribbled tagging though. I can kind of understand why a lot of people hate tags, but I can't see how anyone can see proper pieces of art and think it's vandalism!? Some of the murals and pieces shown here are amazing!

graffiti is the true reflection of society, its a release for writers which we all come to love because it helps to realise all is not lost, graf is probably more abundant in communities where there are major problems, guns and knives, writers are writers because they dont want to get involved with that shit. Dude just a thought but if they legalized graffiti wouldn't it sort out most of their problems. People would be able to spend more time on there work and therefore make better pieces. One of the guys at the beginning said that its partly for the risk, so making it legal would sift out the taggers from the graffiti artists. Also it makes people scared because its illegal, so it shows them that there are local 'criminals'. If it was legal it wouldn't. Plus the gov. wouldn't have to pay those guys.

While i do agree that legalizing it will open more doors to potential artist, Graffiti has to remain on its own type. Some writers do feel that copying (or Biting in Graffiti term) is appreciated but others do not. I mean how do you feel if someone claim that piece of yours to be theirs? rite? Plus there will be alot more legit artist claiming to "write" b4 even if they've never knew what Graffiti in the 1st place. But legal or not, it is still Graff if u're rocking the letters.
