Nice solution for an absolute emergency. In practice, this could be very risky because you are applying 5V DC directly to what's probably a 3.7V battery. Without charge-current limiting, the battery could explode! If you are using the phone to hold the battery, and are applying that same 5V DC to the phone's battery contacts as well, the phone could fry and be blown up along with the exploding battery. It does work, I have a Motorola Triumph and I have to do it because the inside part of the phone the charger hooks up to is loose and wont charge. So doing this works for my phone.

This isn't a good Idea because USB's give 5v, which is different from almost every charger I've ever seen. Plus it would over amp it. It may or may not work for you, but you are putting major abuse on your battery, and on possibly on your phone. Could also make your battery blow up if done wrong.

And to all you whining that your only 13 and can't strip a wire, GROW UP! I was when I was fricken 10. You only make it hard cause you think you can't do it.

It works. I couldn't find my charger for the Samsung Tint. I had an old USB wall charger for the Android LG Optimus (also works on the Samsung Galaxy, Samsung Moment). My daughter or probably my niece messed up the usb side of the cable cuz only a red and black stips were showing. I peeled some off the red and black covering to get some wire out and placed the red wire to the plus side and the black wire to the minus side and plugged it to a wall outlet. It worked!!!
