@jungleman68 thats a big negative mate. led zeppelin were an incredible band and there music shares the blues in rock music like beefheart. if anything there underrated
@4thevol They are overrated because they are called the kings of rock. Also, the guitarist was average at best. I don't know how innovative he was but led zeppelin never made heavy metal even though they are credited for creating the genre. There are much better bands than them.
The live soundtrack has a number of "Decals" era tracks, as well as some from "Safe As Milk." The CD/DVD booklet shows CB playing there 11/20&21/70 & 1/19&20/71. The longer footage also shows Ry Cooder playing on stage (not with CB), which would correlate with the '71 bill (CB, RC, & Pure Prairie League). The DVD footage is almost as bad as this clip, but there's been an effort to lighten it, introducing more noise. Strange how I just stumbled on this clip after having just borrowed the DVD!
I'm going to agree with the commentary from two years ago that this isn't a TMR promo. This MAY have been filmed in either Nov. 1970 or January 1971 at The Ludlow Garage, a Cincinnati music club in the late '60s/early '70s. A Cincy friend just loaned me the Ludlow Garage 40th Anniv. CD/DVD set and a longer version of this footage is included, but with a different (unsynced) soundtrack... supposedly CB&TMB playing at LG. More info in next comment...
As this is a promo, I'm betting people saw this and grabbed a copy of the album, expecting straight-ahead blooze-rock. Then they put it on the turntable and all hell breaks loose.
The Old Folks Boogie doesn't appear as a complete piece on a CB&HMB album to my knowledge, but they did jam into it during one tune from the Mirror Man period. I'm not sure if it's on Mirror Man or 20th Century Quaker, but they were recorded as one ablum initially. The record company wanted to release them as two single albums rather than a double. They have been released on CD as The Mirror Man Sessions.
His music was misunderstood when it came out an still is !! I remember a story of him being found in mexico off his head on mescalin !! Thanks for posting !!
That Hair Pie bass line was used in lots of other songs. Suction Prints, When It Blows Its Stacks, Grow Fins, lots of stuff on the Spotlight Kid bootlegs. Thanks for this man.
Actually, as far as I know, the bass line's only on the chunks of Suction Prints available on the Brown Star Sessions. I can't find the complete set of recordings from that period so I can't really back up what I said in the first comment.
Hi, I know for sure that the song that starts at 3'40" is Hair Pie (a different take than the ones used on Trout Mask?) but I don't know the first song.
I found "Trout Mask Replica" in a used cd store for 5.99. It still remains a classic to me, and throughout the 17 years of my life, nothing has been so more bizzare. That 5.99 was worth it!
bnork you are wrong.... Art Tripp didnt join until 1970. The guy on drums at the festival in Belguim is a stand in because Drumbo had been kicked out of / left the band after TMR was released. He plays lame versions of the drum tracks that Drumbo scored for the original pieces.
Artie Tripp may have been with him in '69, as the Live in Belgium clip shows him in the band (if the dates on that are, in fact, correct...ya' feel me?)
this is NOT a trout mask promo, it shows Art Tripp playing marimba which means its 1970 at the earliest, if you ask me its around the 'decals' recording time. sorry for being a nerd...
Wow! Great find!! Nice one Kokof! There must be some one out there that can lighten this up and make it much more watchable? I know the technology is there.
You mentioned Tarotplane. I had that on a retro release in the seventies called Mirrorman - long since borrowed and forgotten. Probably released in UK. Do you know of it? Can it be got on CD or downloaded????
Yeah it's available on the Mirror Man Sessions CD...there were (at least) two versions of it but the version on MMS is really quite amazing! Try amazon or soulseek.

Tarotplane is a wordplay on terraplane, which was a word blues singers like Robert Johnson used for a car.
