Conquest of the Planet of the Apes is my favorite. The scene were Ceasar run with a M-16 is just epic. This ending is 100x better then the offical gay happy ending, and 1000x better then the new movie in wich Ceasar refuse to kill human...
Can somebody upload a video of the speech Caesar gives BEFORE this part..???????????????????????????? And btw...at the beginning of this he sounds like Skeletor...just saying!
I apologise for the racist remark by Maglioso. An opinion is like a nose, everybody has one but I had to delete his because not only was his remarks racist, but he obviously did not see this movie and how the " successful white people " tormented and tortured and humiliated the apes all through out the movie and how the black guy talked sense into Ceasar at the end after his famous " where there is fire, there is smoke " speech.
All members of Hominidae except humans have 24 pairs of chromosomes. Humans have only 23 pairs of chromosomes. Human chromosome 2 is widely accepted to be a result of an end-to-end fusion of two ancestral chromosomes.see youtube video Bonobill, "evidence of common ancestry, Human chromosome 2", Also Pariskillton: Ken Miller, ' How to shut up pesky creationists' . It should've been done this way, with Battle never happening. It would end the series by bringing it right back to the first movie, which was the original intent
My bad. Beneath would've received an R rating if the half human half ape child was in it. Especially with one of the gorilla soldiers getting so badly fucked up by the radiation of the nuclear bomb.
As much as I love the series, it might have been better if it ended like this and didn't have a sequel so the timeline would lead into the events of the 1st movie, even though Battle For The Planet of the Apes is one of the best series endings
@HeadBangerAust To be honest the whole timeline confuses me. I really need somebody to explain to me hwo the timelines in the series fit with the timelines of the 2001 movie and the latest movie.
@franciscodudeful They 2001 version is a remake and follows a little bit more closely to the novel. As far as the latest film that can be confusing. It seems to take place now when the timeline in the Planet of the Apes movies is further in the future when the apes rise. Hopefully there will be sequels and there will be a new timeline altogether.
@themisfitsmessiah The original version had the characters from the novel (Dr. Zaius, Cornelius, Zira, Nova) and the 2001 version had all of these new guys.
@franciscodudeful Ok, they came out with the first movie. The director wanted to make a sequel because Heston made it very successful. When they approached him about it, he said he would make an appearance only if they killed his character off. The bomb drops end of story. However with Beneath being successful, they came up with a way for them to make a third in Escape by Zera and cornelius escaping in a rocket and going back in time. Conquest picked up where Escape left off.
I like this ending better. It made sense. After what the humans have done to the apes, Caesar decreed that they should dominated with compassion and understanding?
A much better ending. It synchs with the speech/argument Caesar gave about apes dominating humanity and controlling their own destiny. The ending where he talks (and I'm paraphrasing) about being "humane", doesn't really mesh with the first movie and this movie, or the running theme of the prophecy.
I always Loved Conquest of the Planet of the Apes, I heard of an uncut version. I yet to see it. But Im glad to c a glimpse of the Original ending. Its perhaps the darkest of the series and the Best. "Man have No Understanding, Dr. Zais"
I thought I knew just about everything about the first five. This original ending of CONQUEST I was unaware of. I've never even found anything in print about it.
this original darker ending fits with the original PotA movie. They should never have changed it. If the Apes practiced mercy why the hell were humans mute slaves in the future then?
@metr0man Because they only practiced mercy this time because of Caesar. When the revolt happened the original time, there was no Caesar because his parents, Cornelius and Zira would not be born for nearly 2000 more years. The original revolt did not happen until a few centuries later. Caesar loved his human friend and provider in the new furture, Ricardo Montelban as he was raised by him, so he stressed compassion and piece in the new future that never happened in the original revolt.
@metr0man YEAH THAT IS TRUE. They try to live in peace with the humans in the last film and then it would eventually lead into the future and they were harsh. Maybe over time, after caesar, new leaders arose and they became like dictators. and thats why the apes keep humans as slaves. I've been a fan of the Apes since I was a kid in the 70's and seen it a million times and this is the first time ever seeing that ending. Pretty cool
@seanncory waow! This ending is just far better than the other , wich was very frustrating and if remember well he was in delirium with god and all that... Thanks , this one is far better to imagine what's gonna be next
@CasimusxPrime yep but in the new movie he dosnet talk until he gets sent 2 animal jail in the new film then they plan 2 mk another in 2013 if this one does good
@CasimusxPrime Yes....the son of Cornelius and Zara.....(I beleve that was the female's name), and then there was the last movie.....were he is in charge of all of the apes....and the world looks like it did in the first movie. Ceaser, was only in two of the originals...and played by Roddy McDowell, who also played Cornelius....his father.
Yeah, I like the released version with Ceasar having the wisdom to be merciful better. It is not enough to simply better your enemy on the battefield. You must show yourself WORTHY of the spoils to come after and BETTER than those who came before.
Ceasar's mercy was the better way for the movie to end as well because it provided a counterpoint to the violence that some men had shown him and showed he remembered the kindness and caring of some others.
@EvilAnticsLive In ROTPOTA do you not get that the improved retrovirus created to cure Alzheimer's disease is deadly to humans; that the chimp handler (Tyler Labine) died from being exposed, but not before he sneezed on Dr. Rodman's (James Franco) neighbor (David Hewett) who turns out to be a commercial pilot and will undoubtedly spread the virus and create a pandemic around the world; thus killing off most of the human population and leaving the apes to flourish and dominate the planet.
@theoceanus2007 Yeah, I saw it after I made that comment. Nice little twist, was a lot better than I expected. Though just in case I didn't...you should kinda said like "SPOILER ALERT" cause I hate people that ruin twists
it is important for revolution to know that the opressed can kill their opressor. that this being who controls you is not all powerful. that he is made of flesh and blood like you. that if he takes your life.... his can be taken as well. this is an important revelation so that power is balanced and to prevent one culture from enslaving another without experiencing the consequence of violent resistance. mans greed prevents him from cohabitating in peace.
I miss the good opld movie with makeup, the new apes are CGI, booo, film loses that realism when using CGI for everything, and now ONE ape releases some chemicals on a zoo, ONE zoo, ONE city, and suddenly mankind falls... Retarded twist, the original although random (humans keeping apes as pets and slaves) is realistic and plausible, so i enjoyed it! Anyways, Old=classic, cool and realistic New=Cgi and bad plot!
@GenesisApes then I stand corrected, do not own the BluRay version, but have the DVD collection, maybe it's on there too. Looked too cheesy to be real.
@MrGonzorhea, technically it isn't a fake ending. It was the original ending but when it was screen tested audiences hated it and replaced it with Caesar being more 'humane' (the pun intended) by allowing Breck to live even though he should have been killed.
I bought the Blue Ray collection a year or two ago and when I first saw this ending I was quite frightened yet I got a better feel of the movie from what the new ending gave us when Lise spoke out. Both ending makes sense if you really think about it. Each ending explains how either future will become. With this ending loops back to the first movie, the second describes more the Battle and its ending where all humans and apes are living together as one.
@FiendsInRedSatin1 Thats true but I wish the poster showed the 5 minutes leading up to this ending. Thats what is disturbing and better and more truthfull. Much more blood and bullit holes. Alot of blood,J.Lee Thompson the director had a ball throwing blood everywhere. A definate Rated R movie then. Very of the time and grindhouse like but the first of the grindhouse type explotation films-1972!
I must admit - I've secretly been keeping some Apes, Chimps and Orangutans as pets in hope that they may one day rise up and overthrow mankind. I also added a couple Gibbons because I thought that they may be helpful in jungle warfare and could be used as excellent scouts...
you have raised us well, father. I have even learned how to kill the humans known as "youtubers" and take control of their "channels"! Aren't you proud?
please...DO NOT TRY TO BREED WITH THE MONKEYS. it doesnt matter how attractive you think they look, its never going to happen, and even if it does, that wont put you on their good side
@etheangel2220 Joseph Stalin tried to breed man and gorilla to create super soldiers. I am sure some scientist already did it. Have you ever heard about the Monkey-man of Delhi. In 2001, in India, hundreds of people claim to have been attacked by something half man half monkey. History Channel made a documentary about it call "The curse of the monkey man". There is also the Big Foot in America. All this is possible but it is a crime against mankind and nature, governments would deny it.
This was the ending too the unrated version. The 40 year Evolution has all five movies on blu-ray. On Conquest, there is the unrated version, which was too violent in theaters, Mothers were taking their kids out of theaters. Theatrical version where things were toned down, and McDowall had too say some additional lines in post-production. Making it a positive note for the human survivors. Has a kid, I had wondered why Breck wasn't in Battle, has Ceasar's slave. I didn't know he got killed. lol.
@hulkster46a= Yeah, Breck died in the nuclear war between the films. His flunky Kolp became the leader of the surviving humans of the city, thought they became mutants. Like the ones in the second movie.
@vigo894 I was surprised when I first bought the 40 year evolution. There was addiitonal footage on Battle, Conquest making them the unrated versions. I don't think they did much for Beneath and Escape. But I do remember seeing stills of the three apes in Escape, in Taylors spaceship. I think they should of left that in. I also remember Heston, has Taylor, having additional lines, that were cut from the final version. I would of loved too of seen it. Maybe for the 50th evolution. lol
@waynedaly100 I remember that it actually filmed, but the director wanted too make it more of a love story, rather then scifi. I don't understand it, but its the directors vision. I'm guessing that its probly lost footage, somewhere in the studio vaults. Overall, I still would love too see more of Taylors speech. Heston wrote in his book that he had some pretty lengthy dialog in the movie, that was cut for time.
@hulkster46a if its true would love to see it,even as a bonus feature, the apes crashing to earth in the ship.great stuff. All so a sub plot was cut of nova pregnant,i love the apes so much for 30 years, every thing that was cut is of intrest to me
@waynedaly100 You and me both, lol. I would love too see all the extra stuff producers cut from the films. Some people get tired of the extra stuff in films, claiming it slows the pace of the movie down. But I think it helps with the character development. Which is why i like the extended cuts of the Lord of the rings. I never get tired of watching it. lol
@GenesisApes cool, i did not know,i dont have a blue ray player but i will soon. the scene might be lost or damaged, but i hope not this is the holy grail of thr apes, and some cut scenes form the org movie
@ 620brooks. I used my digital camera on my widescreeen. I knew this was going to happen because I told my daughter who seen this the very first time what "mercy" was because I expected "the speech" of "put down our weapons". Needless to say she was tramatized by the brutality...thank you AMC!
@seanncory Yes this ending is the from the unrated version. I bought the 40 year evolution on blu-ray. But their are two versions of Conquest. One that had too much blood and violence. and the theatrical version where McDowall was called in too record some additional lines. Making the ending more hopeful for the human survivors. Has a kid, I had wondered what had happened too Breck. I thought he was gonna be Ceaser's slave in Battle. I didn't know he got killed.
@seanncory hey butthole, thats life....if you were a true "father" then you would have taught you daughter before hand how f(_)cked up the world really is....i believe in the bible account that after our first parents fell, the whole of creation went south and this is what we got until GOD restores all things...
to an enlighten mind, the violence of the world should be of no surprise....ok buckwheat !
Great film series. I dont get it though if this all happened wouldnt that mean the first film never happened. IE if in the escape they get killed then taylor could have never met them as they would be dead. scratches head lol
@2011magic Well ok. Heres a bit of explanation: time travel. It was confusing at first for me as well but Taylor did meet them, and still will have. The might have die in Escape, but they will be reborn again in the year 3750whateveryearwas depending on the change of future or not. Basically Cornelius and Zira are the cause of the whole thing, their son, and with Milo brought along his body I believe contributed to the up right first apes. Well, my opinion at least, theory on what happened. :]
Everything Planet of the Apes related is included in Hasslein Books' reference publications - "Timeline of the Planet of the Apes" and the newly released "Lexicon of the Planet of the Apes".
@aro3636 in the movies the Chimpansees are the more educated monkeys, the Gorillas are in the army and the orang oetans in justice and religion. If monkeys can understand money, can smoke, can do tricks why couldn't the pull a trigger and aim. In Africa there are already apes that dismantle traps so why wouldn't they be albe to shoot?
@Jethrofinger That's true... It is too underrated. I can't watch these films without getting really pulled into the thought and emotion they exhibit. It's frustrating that things like Star Wars (which is also very good, yet more commercial) have a way of cloud-covering these old classics.
This ending FEELS more in line with the building up to a crescendo presented in the entire film... But I find I'm mixed as to which is better. I can find justifiable opinion to support either really. In simplest terms, one ending is Hope, the other Revolution. As a human, I cringe at the thought of our being wiped out. However, as someone opposed to discrimination and mindless masses being led like slaves, I also find I not only sympathize with Caesar, but want to JOIN him!
@taylor39781 They don't. America's enemies (considering the time of the movie, most likely the Soviets, perhaps Communist China) take advantage of the civil turmoil to initiate nuclear war, with the goal of taking out America's ability to respond by first strike. They fail. A group of apes survives the war. This is also the basis for the 'forbidden zone' in the first movie.
@taylor39781 I know what you mean, but when did Planet of the Apes ever make sense? The only reason Caesar is around is because his parents from the future found a spaceship in the middle of a lake, repaired it, and used it to travel backwards in time to narrowly avoid Charleton Heston blowing up the planet.
Este es el final que se merecen mucho políticos y dictadores autoritarios quienes han sometido y someten a sus pueblos bajo su yugo de poder de mano dura y terror.

@GenesisApes then I stand corrected, do not own the BluRay version, but have the DVD collection, maybe it's on there too. Looked too cheesy to be real.
MrGonzorhea 7 months ago
@MrGonzorhea, technically it isn't a fake ending. It was the original ending but when it was screen tested audiences hated it and replaced it with Caesar being more 'humane' (the pun intended) by allowing Breck to live even though he should have been killed.

I like this ending much better. Fits in with the dark endings of the previous 3 films.

Wow....that's pretty dark. I can see now why the film's ending was changed, but still this was far more effective.
FiendsInRedSatin1 10 months ago
@FiendsInRedSatin1 Thats true but I wish the poster showed the 5 minutes leading up to this ending. Thats what is disturbing and better and more truthfull. Much more blood and bullit holes. Alot of blood,J.Lee Thompson the director had a ball throwing blood everywhere. A definate Rated R movie then. Very of the time and grindhouse like but the first of the grindhouse type explotation films-1972!

I must admit - I've secretly been keeping some Apes, Chimps and Orangutans as pets in hope that they may one day rise up and overthrow mankind. I also added a couple Gibbons because I thought that they may be helpful in jungle warfare and could be used as excellent scouts...

etheangel2220 5 months ago
@etheangel2220 Joseph Stalin tried to breed man and gorilla to create super soldiers. I am sure some scientist already did it. Have you ever heard about the Monkey-man of Delhi. In 2001, in India, hundreds of people claim to have been attacked by something half man half monkey. History Channel made a documentary about it call "The curse of the monkey man". There is also the Big Foot in America. All this is possible but it is a crime against mankind and nature, governments would deny it.
Patriote17 3 days ago
This was the ending too the unrated version. The 40 year Evolution has all five movies on blu-ray. On Conquest, there is the unrated version, which was too violent in theaters, Mothers were taking their kids out of theaters. Theatrical version where things were toned down, and McDowall had too say some additional lines in post-production. Making it a positive note for the human survivors. Has a kid, I had wondered why Breck wasn't in Battle, has Ceasar's slave. I didn't know he got killed. lol.
hulkster46a 10 months ago
@hulkster46a= Yeah, Breck died in the nuclear war between the films. His flunky Kolp became the leader of the surviving humans of the city, thought they became mutants. Like the ones in the second movie.
vigo894 9 months ago
@vigo894 I was surprised when I first bought the 40 year evolution. There was addiitonal footage on Battle, Conquest making them the unrated versions. I don't think they did much for Beneath and Escape. But I do remember seeing stills of the three apes in Escape, in Taylors spaceship. I think they should of left that in. I also remember Heston, has Taylor, having additional lines, that were cut from the final version. I would of loved too of seen it. Maybe for the 50th evolution. lol
hulkster46a 9 months ago
@hulkster46a i dont think they filmed the apes in the ship scenes, they are in the script,i think what you saw was publicty stills, but i hope im wrong
waynedaly100 9 months ago
@waynedaly100 I remember that it actually filmed, but the director wanted too make it more of a love story, rather then scifi. I don't understand it, but its the directors vision. I'm guessing that its probly lost footage, somewhere in the studio vaults. Overall, I still would love too see more of Taylors speech. Heston wrote in his book that he had some pretty lengthy dialog in the movie, that was cut for time.
hulkster46a 9 months ago
@hulkster46a if its true would love to see it,even as a bonus feature, the apes crashing to earth in the ship.great stuff. All so a sub plot was cut of nova pregnant,i love the apes so much for 30 years, every thing that was cut is of intrest to me
waynedaly100 9 months ago
@waynedaly100 You and me both, lol. I would love too see all the extra stuff producers cut from the films. Some people get tired of the extra stuff in films, claiming it slows the pace of the movie down. But I think it helps with the character development. Which is why i like the extended cuts of the Lord of the rings. I never get tired of watching it. lol
hulkster46a 9 months ago
@waynedaly100 There are stills on the Blu ray disc of Don Taylor filming the spaceship interiors for Escape opening.

@ 620brooks. I used my digital camera on my widescreeen. I knew this was going to happen because I told my daughter who seen this the very first time what "mercy" was because I expected "the speech" of "put down our weapons". Needless to say she was tramatized by the brutality...thank you AMC!
seanncory 10 months ago 4
@seanncory Yes this ending is the from the unrated version. I bought the 40 year evolution on blu-ray. But their are two versions of Conquest. One that had too much blood and violence. and the theatrical version where McDowall was called in too record some additional lines. Making the ending more hopeful for the human survivors. Has a kid, I had wondered what had happened too Breck. I thought he was gonna be Ceaser's slave in Battle. I didn't know he got killed.
hulkster46a 10 months ago
@seanncory hey butthole, thats life....if you were a true "father" then you would have taught you daughter before hand how f(_)cked up the world really is....i believe in the bible account that after our first parents fell, the whole of creation went south and this is what we got until GOD restores all things...

ThatSaxonGuy 10 months ago
@2011magic Well ok. Heres a bit of explanation: time travel. It was confusing at first for me as well but Taylor did meet them, and still will have. The might have die in Escape, but they will be reborn again in the year 3750whateveryearwas depending on the change of future or not. Basically Cornelius and Zira are the cause of the whole thing, their son, and with Milo brought along his body I believe contributed to the up right first apes. Well, my opinion at least, theory on what happened. :]

aro3636 1 year ago
@aro3636 in the movies the Chimpansees are the more educated monkeys, the Gorillas are in the army and the orang oetans in justice and religion. If monkeys can understand money, can smoke, can do tricks why couldn't the pull a trigger and aim. In Africa there are already apes that dismantle traps so why wouldn't they be albe to shoot?
naam123lol 11 months ago
There is a missing link. If the end caused the peace between men and apes in the Battle; why in the first movie do they hunt humans?
Great video.

@Jethrofinger That's true... It is too underrated. I can't watch these films without getting really pulled into the thought and emotion they exhibit. It's frustrating that things like Star Wars (which is also very good, yet more commercial) have a way of cloud-covering these old classics.
noirgwio 1 year ago

DocWyoming 1 year ago
@taylor39781 You should check out the comic series "Revolution on the Planet of the Apes" that gives a how it happened during Conquest...
doublemandala 1 year ago
@taylor39781 I know what you mean, but when did Planet of the Apes ever make sense? The only reason Caesar is around is because his parents from the future found a spaceship in the middle of a lake, repaired it, and used it to travel backwards in time to narrowly avoid Charleton Heston blowing up the planet.
