umm, actually it is very difficult to know what notes she is hitting, because he do not know which concert scale she is singing in. she could be in b flat or c sharp or f sharp we do not know so we do not know the notes she is hitting, and octaves are easily heard and diffrentiated from eachother, if someone plays a low c on trumpet, i would know it was a concert b flat down from middle c on piano, and a high c sounds high, not low thats how you can tell. stupd
This video always reminds me of back when I bought tickets to see her live and shopped for an outfit that looked like this one. I was all ready to go and SO syked. It was my dream to see her in concert! My mom and I got to the theater and NO ONE WAS THERE. Other cars came too expecting a concert. We couldn't even get into the parking lot. My heart fell into pieces... Was told that the artist canceled the concert. Not fair Charl! I hope you had a good reason. :( Just my story...
@operagirl81 Perhaps there WAS a good reason. Probably should have checked into it instead of wondering all these years and throwing it out into the comments. If it was so important why didn't you?
@ebcebcebc123123123 It was just a story for God's sake. Don't take it personal. lol. And I DID try to find out but got nowhere. And there was actually a person that worked at the venue who came out because he saw all the cars and said he didn't know about a Charlotte Church concert being scheduled there. Go figure.
She claims of herself 'only' to be sing between 2 and 2.5 octaves and the the 2.5 octaves only on a good day. Incredible! I only know one of one singin artist who can definately sing 4 octaves and that is Nina Hagen.
@Pearly403 I checked out that artist and she doesn't have a 4 octave range. Do you know what an octave is? One octave, for example, would be from F5 on the scale to F6 off the scale (which jumps clear off the scale). That's a 7 note jump for every octave. I am training in opera and I have never even heard of an opera singer with a four octave range and opera singers have the biggest ranges. Church had one and a half octaves at best, but she had a nice voice. PEACE:)!!
@flowersings You sound a bitter airhead that wants to sound like she knows what she's talking about but doesn't. Next thing you'll say is that Mariah also doesn't have a 4 octave range, and she can't enter whistle register, right? Get over yourself moron, you're never going to be anything and you know it which is why you're so jealous. The losers that you listen to are effing horrible, I'm not surprised that you don't know what different octaves sound like.
@soul416 There is no need for your rudeness!!!! I am sorry you felt like I was condescending. That was certainly not my intent! I wanted you to know that I have credibility in this area. It doesn't sound like you have had any training or education classical voice. Correct me if I'm wrong? Have you ever had music lessons of any kind? I have a lot of knowledge about voice. I'm sure you have an area of expertise as well and I would respect your expertise. Please respect mine!
@flowersings im not saying church cant sing but sometimes when i hear classical music esp from a women i feel it's just screeching noise streched out lol. not that i can do it myself of course it seems difficult but it doesnt sound like music it just sounds like something is scratching the chalkboard esp when they hit big notes. however i like church she has a lovely voice to bad she decided to booze it all away.
@soul416 There is no way to judge an octave by ear. My voice teacher has her masters in music from Bowling Green and teaches music on the college level and even she has to use the piano figure out what note the singer is hitting. She is an opera singer. Not everybody who disagrees with you is jealous. I am training in opera and I don't like anything but classical genres, so to say that I am jealous of an 80's pop singer is rude and ridiculous! You cannot hear octaves!
@flowersings If only you could sing as well as certain 80's pop singers. Oh, I'm sure you can. Sure. Leave your YouTube link and let's see. Performance presence counts. Doubt you and your Bowling Green opera queen clutching her precious masters degree could hold a candle. Maybe you need a better instructor.
she is an angel who descended from heaven, we thank thee o heavenly father for her angelic voice amen marry xmas to all god bless the us and god save the queen
never get tired of listening to my favorite christmas carol with the incredible voice of miss Charlotte Church, I´M IN HEAVEN whenever I listen to this
one of my top 4 favorite christmas songs, the other 3: adeste fideles, joy to the world and silent night, and here with the angelical voice of a younger Charlotte Church, of course I have the whole video, the music of this heavenly melody was composed for non other than Félix Mendelssohn, Merry Christmas to all the good will living people in the world, the best part of this version is at 2.31-3.04, specially those 4 final seconds, it´s worth it the whole video, thanks Charlotte!!!!
It's so awesome how this song explains the Gospel. "Hail the incarnate Deity","God and sinners reconciled", "Christ the everlasting Lord". Powerful stuff
GOD'S PROMISE TO NOAH AFTER THE FLOOD. Bible - Genesis 8:22 "While the earth remaineth, seedtime and harvest, and cold and heat, and summer and winter, and day and night shall not cease."
of the many versions that I have heard of this beautiful christmas carol attributed to Felix Mendelssohn, this one is simply the best one, Charlotte you aren´t the voice of an angel, YOU ARE THE ANGEL and through you and this 24 karat diamond christnas page I know that GOD exists! LOVELY. I touch heaven at 2:32 and specially at 3:02
actually she does. she still practises and trains classically. people say she doesnt have the "purity" she did before. she has a four and a half octave range.
