@MrGuitarrer it was an opiate of some kind. Narcan prevents your system from being able to respond to opiates. junkieds hate it, because it'll kill your high very very quickly.

From a sober person's point of view, this is a good example of the damaging effects of illegal drugs and their chipping away at the youths of society. I admit I could have remained on that road, but after receiving Jesus Christ into my life, I am now fully recovered from a past life of marijuana abuse in it various forms. The solution is to seek help and be immobile against the pangs of withdrawal - the feelings WILL dissipate.
@Twoosy "but after receiving Jesus Christ into my life, I am now fully recovered from a past life of marijuana abuse in it various forms"
That is one of the funniest sentences I have read in awhile. You DO realize cigarettes and beer are more addicting than marijuana? Hell, eating sweets is more addicting. You must have a weak mind to have to go all the way to Jesus Christ (AKA The "All in your mind" Placebo effect savior) to rid yourself from the "evils" of weed.
@Twoosy Firstly, you don't need Jesus to break free of any addiction. You look at it this way because becoming a Christian comes with the spiritual "high" and placebo boost. Hey if it works for you have at it. Secondly, marijuana is really next to nothing on the addiction scale. Psychologically it can gain traction because the high is nice, but you can quit like that and feel little to no withdrawals. All drug-use should be legal regardless.
It's the Zionist banking mafia that is ruling over most of the world and making decisions for other countries.. and also removing the 'dictators' that don't go along with their plans.
guys no one start to do heroin to be like him he sure started just to se how it works why is the worst drug ever alot ppl have try it once and never again but he was unlucky and gote stuck with it like one more time and never more but thet way u get stuck if ur body get enough heroin when he is goin to wake up he is goin to feel so wierd without it like i must do it they just need help a profesional help
Every human being, no matter how foul, pathetic, or despicable they may seem to you, deserves a life. Nobody deserves to suffer because of physical illness. Some of you may argue that it's "their fault", but are they not considered sick people? Sick people need to be treated, regardless of how they got sick.
You people, who judge drug addicts and label them as trash, you are the hopeless ones.
Sadly, there is no drug that counteracts the effects of ignorance.
@drdeee6 Apparently it's not fun--once you become an addict--it's addictive, but your "high" simply means fueling your addiction---to regain functioning--and chasing/fulfilling that addiction/"compulsive craving"---not "fun", really.
What junkies do is dangerous to themselves and others. Unless a strong arm actively intervines to force them off it and change the life situation that put them on, they will stay that way. Saving him for today is useless, if we do nothing else. Fuck the people pretending it isn't a bad thing, that these guys aren't dangerous, that they don't contribute less to society, or that they're "geniuses" we must remember they're human and not hate, but don't forget the fucking facts.
speaking from life experiance, you cant trust a user, they all try and take advantage of you, they sniff out your weaknesses and insecurities and wiggle themselves into your lives, you cant take any shit off of them or theyll think that your a victim in their crosshairs and thats when they become a fucking nightmare, my neighburs were users and they were a bunch of stealing violent scum, good ridance to bad rubbish.
@MrDubstepaholic hm, thas not true at all, ur just basing ur thoughts of addicts frm ur own experience with a few, doesnt mean all are th same. I have friends who r addicts an they dont steal from me or ne1, they work full time jobs usually a lot of overtime as well, an if they dont have enuf money 4 a fix cuz they gota pay share of rent, they pay rent an go sick 4 a day or 2. They have there life/priorities straight, even if it does include a few bad decisions, such as using in teh first place.
@Trollberzerk that is true, but i'd rather not take the chance, every user i've met is exactly the way i've described, my sister was friends with a heroin addict and bought her to stay in my home, she didnt say to us that she was on it and she bought a bottle of methodone round with the name scratched off of it, that shit will kill you, and i have children in the house, i wouldnt have cared if she was on it, but i wont have dangerous substances in my house, cant trust em.
my sister used to go out with some prick kid in my area who thaught he was a gangsta cos his brother was in prison, he could be likeable, but ultimately you knew he was a dick, so anyway, one day he took some methodone despite never taking heroin before in his life (ive known a few people who were on it, neighburs n stuff, the usual) so anyways, he went to sleep whilst his mates were downstaits partying, next morning they checked on him, he was dead, dont fuck with the hard stuff folks
Can you just inject enough to keep a high but reduce it so it's not life threatening?
I mean say you need to inject 2mg to save a life, could you just inject .5mg and still enjoy a high but not pass away? I know you can't inject once you've gone over but if somebody was around you could just tell them inject enough so I don't die but not enough to where it kills my one and only hit of dope.
i've actually seen videos where people are saying "why did you do that? you just ruined my hit"
@ontariobuds lol of course there gonna be pissed if there junkies. i know people that'd have milimeters from death and pulled through and come out saying "fuck that was the shit! lets do it agian ;)" death doesnt scare everyone.
@ontariobuds The point is: dont take other substances with heroin (morphine), especially alcohol. This is when the danger of fatal respiratory depression presents itself. If someone has multiple drugs on board, the narcan stops the morphine's contribution to respiratory depression. The morphine on its own will not stop you breathing. Its ld 50 is extraordinarily high. When you use, dont do it alone and have an empty stomach.
I work at a in patient clinic for opiate dependence.I am a recovering addict.Thats the right way you say it because you never really recover.I have been clean for 22 years but I know just how easy it is to get hooked again.I have administer Naloxone to heroin addicts so many times I can't remember (Been working at detox clinics for 14 years now).The new demon is OxyContin.A pill that will fuck you up for life if you ever get hooked.They are new drugs that help get you off of opiate's,don't wait.

@megaterra69 fuking junkies scum of the earth,,, weak souls, being addicted to drugs is not a disease its an excuse to escape reality...face it and deal with it!!!!!!!!!!!!LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOSERS
@supermercado420 I wish I had you for just one week and inject you with high grade heroin every day, three times a day and then just cut you loose at the end of the week and let you crash.Then you would not be the big he man you think you are.I guarantee that you would be at the emergency room that night begging them to help you.All your talk "face it and deal with it",would not mean shit.You would be in severe withdrawals,something that you can't just walk off.I pity people like you.
@profsat5 "the emergency room that night begging them to help". LOL. Ya think so??? Maybe. And if that didn't work? Shiiiit! At that point, I bet you 10 to 1 that supermercado420 would blow his own father, in front of an audience AND put it up on Youtube, just for 1 dose. BTW, it's not just "heroin" addicts either. Anybody that's physically dependent on prescription pain medication, will go through withdraw. Fentanyl is even worse. MUCH worse because it's 40X stronger!
You may be right about the escape from reality. But you have to realize these people are people too. What if you got hit by a truck and I was an EMT and said fuck it he's not worth saving, he'll just die later?
@supermercado420 meh, people who are junkies arent teh scum of teh earth, many people who are junkies are also genius, and creative and both can and have done great things with there lives. Everyone has there flaws, and for some people its addiction, but if u really wanna talk scum of the earth i would say that title goes to pedophiles.
I would bet almost everyone that is saying, "let them die", would not have the guts to let it happen.If you had a syringe of naloxone you know you would use it.
I have been Narcanned (as I like to call it) a few times... its amazing... both times i did not have any withdrawal because I had some clean time under my belt. Before anyone blasts me for saying that know that i have over 3 years clean now
i love the the way thay talk.i want to talk like that. where did thay cop there shit from i'll fly there right fucking now i havent had any good shit in a long time.does anyone know where i could cop the same shit.i want to get retarded and talk like that. heehaww.
Look at all the people in the comments saying "let him die,he's no use to society",well really any of use is no use to society.Tell me besides "I work and I blah blah blah so society needs me".Wrong your the last person society needs.A person that thinks they are better than anyone else, is willing to let someone die is below that person.Be thankful for Naloxone,it has saved many people that OD en route to the hospital.People don't know anything about addiction and shoot there mouth off.
@profsat5 ya tell them the assholes they shoot there mouths off. so you should shove dicks in there mouths for em but ill bet they enjoy it so much that they start shoveing lamps up each others assholes wouldnt you jerkoffs with big mouths.
@profsat5 Not only has naloxone saved many who inadvertently overdose on street opioids, but it has saved many more who were accidentally overdosed by a health care provider. Preventing compassion fatigue is an ever present topic in nursing, especially critical care nursing. Honestly though, as an ER nurse, I see a larger lack of compassion in the general public. Thank you for your refreshing viewpoint.
I can't believe he made it! Oh and I'd be pist too.lol Well I know plenty about addicts and addiction, it's a very cruel thing to go through, so if you're thinking about trying it Do NOT!!!!!!!!!!
@profsat5 I'm not that shure that we should be so thakfull for Naloxone,it's a experimental medicine to try to get the users to stop with heroin...but i have myself a few friends who have left this world because of Naloxone!
@TheInaK Naloxone is a safe, easy-to-use antidote to overdose from heroin or other opioids, like morphine, codeine, hydromorphone (vicodin), and oxycodone. Although naloxone has been used in emergency settings for decades,it is now finally able to use in field(by the ambulance crew itself).Anybody that dies after given Naloxone is because they received it too late.I have been doing this for over 20 years and NEVER lost anybody.It is not experimental.Been around since the 60's.Don't play doctor.
@TheInaK Narcan is totally safe, and anybody can get it from ur nearest needle exchange. I have saved my own friends lives in my basement on moar than one occasion, cause i always keep a syringe ov narcan with me when my friends are using, anybody can get it and just keep it at home, so if u know people who use, its nice to have on hand and it always works if u use it fast enuf
he's less productive than people who have jobs, society does have certain needs and crime is not one of them, junkies are more likely to be harmful to society than helpful to it, workers are more likely to help it. That said, he is still a human so 'let him die' is fucked up. Though if we don't do anything except keep him alive for another day, let him die we may as well be doing.
@unassumption Good position to take:Stay in the middle.I have over 25 years experience in matters such as these.The problem is when you start to erect walls around something you don't like you may look around one day and find walls around yourself because for example,the career you chose has too many people in it already and nobody wants to take a cut in pay for you.Your kids are hooked on something (Don't never ever say it won't happen I seen it too many times),cheaper to treat someone anyway.
I've got a few alcoholics in my family, I know the damage people on that let alone heroin can do to everyone around them let alone themselves. My best friend's brother fucked over his family and rose the crime rate of their street to pay for his habit. We need to help these people weather they want it or not, just keeping them alive (to hurt themselves + others more) isn't enough. We need to force them to get the help they need and change the situation that got them on, not jail them
no idea why people think deterrent would work for people in such an irrational state. Thankfully it's not just a choice between letting them 'live' like this or die, we have other options.
Sure you have more experience than me. Think your being optimistic if you think being a nice guy (if that's what 'not building walls' meant) will make other people treat you well though they tend to get exploited most. Not sure how admitting it's a problem = building walls though.
@unassumption You seem like a level headed person.Now about myself.I started working in a "in house or lock down"facility.That type of environment is the toughest and it has the most revolving door of any place.Addicts rarely succeed and are clean after just as little as 2 weeks to 30 days to 90 days.Addicts with the real desire to quit has the most success at a walk in clinic that checks them every morning and administers detox drugs.In all my experiences this worked the best to stay clean.
I'd guess it definitely helps if they want to get clean, though I really haven't got much experience with drugs. Do these lock downs just get them off the drug, or do they look at why they got on the drug, and try dealing with that? If you make the person better then put them strait back in the situation they got hooked in the first place, they will again. Just a guess, maybe they do try dealing with that stuff, moving them to a new place, etc.
@unassumption I think you have just said what the problem is with a "lock down unit for rehab".Sure they get you off drugs,the whole time you are there.But when you are released back into the world all the stuff that made you start is still there.Walk in clinics in my opinion are best.You come in the morning,take your meds,chill out for awhile and then talk one on one with a counselor.Then you go to a group meeting.When you leave the same problems are there,but you have meds,doctors to help.
Do people get sent to walk in rehabs? If so, maybe the difference is less in the way the rehab is run but who goes there, if people willingly choose something they're more likely to want to change all their life and keep the change than someone forced. If people are forced to go to both, sure a different type of person (more likely to change?) would be sent to the less secure option. I don't know much about it though. Always have to treat people like humans whatever the system.
then again walk in gives you help while your living your life exposed to temptation to do drugs, so it might help people cope with life better than getting them off without doing it in the environment they'll be living in afterward. It could well be a better system in itself.
@unassumption Walk in clinics are better than being in a lock down unit.I have seen more success with walk in clinics.You are drug tested everyday and you get your meds everyday plus 1 on 1 and group meetings.If you want it to work it will.If you have not hit bottom or you hang around the wrong people then it will not work.Stay home so someone that really wants to quit can take your place.People end up dying because they refuse help.They chase the high but never catch it.I have heard that alot.
so you wouldn't care if i went upto your mum witth a strait razor and cut her throat right, because she was going to die anyway, doesn't matter when they die? Or your kid, if i set him on fire, doesn't matter how much pain he's in because we all die anyway, right?
A few people have made remarks about this man’s value to society; I am not entirely sure that they are in the position to judge anyone’s value – whatever that means, secondly, the great and the good who presumably epitomise what ‘value to society’ means have recently displayed what a meaningless description this is. The British are by and large, a liberal society that takes care of those in extremis, rich or poor, of value or not; this is the definition of a civilised and caring society.
@amillionpoundcoins I see such compassion for your fellow humans in your words. Anyone can find themselves down on their luck. Or maybe this addict has suffered from schizophrenia, and uses heroin to take the pain away. Fucking Judges (despite myself judging your good self :-)
I had a similar close encounter with death after I tool 1200mg Tramadol (that is almost a lethal dose. I fell unconscious and had a grand mall seizure.
@nightcrawler511 Its like having a orgasm for 3 hours............if you make it. It affects the part of the brain that controls breathing............So if you overdose, then you die. This guy was very lucky someone gave him some narcan
@laredo444 so true I saved a few of my friends and when they came too there like u ruined my high..I say motherfucker YOU ruined my high when someone O.D's your adrenaline kicks in and kills your high.Scares you straight,id make the person I saved buy me more cause there still fucked up and im straight.great life on methadone which is the worse kick ever
@cinnabin Incorrect Sir. Ready to use Naloxone syringes are given to addicts in an attempt to reduce the overdose rate among users. It is an opioid antagonist and temporarily reverses the effects of the heroin. It is also given to UK ambulance crews to treat overdoses. Narcan is it's equivalent, and is mainly given to EMT crews in America to treat the same. Suboxone and Subutex will put you into acute withdrawls, but are too slow acting - taking about 20 mins. Naloxone and Narcan are immediate.
@cdwordsworth26 fuck yea and not to mention that shit throws you straight into withdrawal...not fun.but neither is a heroin overdose. pretty much the scariest thing and id take naloxone over an o.d. anyday...
even touching naloxone will make you hang

@profsat5 ya tell them the assholes they shoot there mouths off. so you should shove dicks in there mouths for em but ill bet they enjoy it so much that they start shoveing lamps up each others assholes wouldnt you jerkoffs with big mouths.

@profsat5 Dude, your comment made me feel better. To know there are people out there who are intelligent and who 'give a damn"
laudiumWP 6 months ago
@profsat5 Not only has naloxone saved many who inadvertently overdose on street opioids, but it has saved many more who were accidentally overdosed by a health care provider. Preventing compassion fatigue is an ever present topic in nursing, especially critical care nursing. Honestly though, as an ER nurse, I see a larger lack of compassion in the general public. Thank you for your refreshing viewpoint.

precisionb 4 months ago
@profsat5 I'm not that shure that we should be so thakfull for Naloxone,it's a experimental medicine to try to get the users to stop with heroin...but i have myself a few friends who have left this world because of Naloxone!
TheInaK 4 months ago
@TheInaK Naloxone is a safe, easy-to-use antidote to overdose from heroin or other opioids, like morphine, codeine, hydromorphone (vicodin), and oxycodone. Although naloxone has been used in emergency settings for decades,it is now finally able to use in field(by the ambulance crew itself).Anybody that dies after given Naloxone is because they received it too late.I have been doing this for over 20 years and NEVER lost anybody.It is not experimental.Been around since the 60's.Don't play doctor.
profsat5 4 months ago
@TheInaK Narcan is totally safe, and anybody can get it from ur nearest needle exchange. I have saved my own friends lives in my basement on moar than one occasion, cause i always keep a syringe ov narcan with me when my friends are using, anybody can get it and just keep it at home, so if u know people who use, its nice to have on hand and it always works if u use it fast enuf

@profsat5
he's less productive than people who have jobs, society does have certain needs and crime is not one of them, junkies are more likely to be harmful to society than helpful to it, workers are more likely to help it. That said, he is still a human so 'let him die' is fucked up. Though if we don't do anything except keep him alive for another day, let him die we may as well be doing.
unassumption 3 months ago
@unassumption Good position to take:Stay in the middle.I have over 25 years experience in matters such as these.The problem is when you start to erect walls around something you don't like you may look around one day and find walls around yourself because for example,the career you chose has too many people in it already and nobody wants to take a cut in pay for you.Your kids are hooked on something (Don't never ever say it won't happen I seen it too many times),cheaper to treat someone anyway.
profsat5 3 months ago
@profsat5
We need to force them to get the help they need and change the situation that got them on, not jail them
unassumption 3 months ago
@profsat5
no idea why people think deterrent would work for people in such an irrational state. Thankfully it's not just a choice between letting them 'live' like this or die, we have other options.
Sure you have more experience than me. Think your being optimistic if you think being a nice guy (if that's what 'not building walls' meant) will make other people treat you well though they tend to get exploited most. Not sure how admitting it's a problem = building walls though.
unassumption 3 months ago
@unassumption You seem like a level headed person.Now about myself.I started working in a "in house or lock down"facility.That type of environment is the toughest and it has the most revolving door of any place.Addicts rarely succeed and are clean after just as little as 2 weeks to 30 days to 90 days.Addicts with the real desire to quit has the most success at a walk in clinic that checks them every morning and administers detox drugs.In all my experiences this worked the best to stay clean.
profsat5 3 months ago
@profsat5
Just a guess, maybe they do try dealing with that stuff, moving them to a new place, etc.
unassumption 3 months ago
@unassumption I think you have just said what the problem is with a "lock down unit for rehab".Sure they get you off drugs,the whole time you are there.But when you are released back into the world all the stuff that made you start is still there.Walk in clinics in my opinion are best.You come in the morning,take your meds,chill out for awhile and then talk one on one with a counselor.Then you go to a group meeting.When you leave the same problems are there,but you have meds,doctors to help.
profsat5 3 months ago
@profsat5
Always have to treat people like humans whatever the system.
unassumption 3 months ago
@profsat5
then again walk in gives you help while your living your life exposed to temptation to do drugs, so it might help people cope with life better than getting them off without doing it in the environment they'll be living in afterward. It could well be a better system in itself.
unassumption 3 months ago
@unassumption Walk in clinics are better than being in a lock down unit.I have seen more success with walk in clinics.You are drug tested everyday and you get your meds everyday plus 1 on 1 and group meetings.If you want it to work it will.If you have not hit bottom or you hang around the wrong people then it will not work.Stay home so someone that really wants to quit can take your place.People end up dying because they refuse help.They chase the high but never catch it.I have heard that alot.

A few people have made remarks about this man’s value to society; I am not entirely sure that they are in the position to judge anyone’s value – whatever that means, secondly, the great and the good who presumably epitomise what ‘value to society’ means have recently displayed what a meaningless description this is. The British are by and large, a liberal society that takes care of those in extremis, rich or poor, of value or not; this is the definition of a civilised and caring society.

its straight narcan, suboxone or subutex wont do anything for an overdose
cinnabin 2 years ago
@cinnabin Incorrect Sir. Ready to use Naloxone syringes are given to addicts in an attempt to reduce the overdose rate among users. It is an opioid antagonist and temporarily reverses the effects of the heroin. It is also given to UK ambulance crews to treat overdoses. Narcan is it's equivalent, and is mainly given to EMT crews in America to treat the same. Suboxone and Subutex will put you into acute withdrawls, but are too slow acting - taking about 20 mins. Naloxone and Narcan are immediate.
