The Zeppelin Field was designed by Albert Speer. He invented a concept he called "ruin value", the idea that ruins would have value for future generations, much like the Roman and Greek ruins. Hitler liked this idea and told him to use it in all his designs. I've seen pics of the ruins of the Zeppelin Field on the net, Speers "ruin value" is apparent to this day.
