@parnellrd as someone who has been playing slide guitar for 3+ years, at some points almost exclusively, this lesson is useless. you shouldnt use a guitar with a fucked over neck for slide. you probably shouldnt use standard tuning either, but either way if the neck is fucked, you have NO open chords to use while playing, and nothing but slide. which is fine for a lap steel, but for any other guitar being played with a slide, its a terrible suggestion.

one of the reasons he sounds so bad is that he is not dampening the slide - without which you get this weird overtone on the other side of the slide - you need to dampen the string behind the slide

@stevenpsmitty you dont NEED to, but it sure as hell helps. at the 12th fret i find it better not to dampen it as you get alot more sustain, and on either side of the slide its producing the same note, so you can do some funky shit playing behind the slide there if you know where your going with it.

Dude, learn to play well before you give lessons. OH, and that SQUIRE sucks ALMOST as bad as you do. Visit ebay and find a real guitar. You can also find some good vidoes on instrucition there also.

you need to appreciate cheaper guitars for what they can be. Jeff healey was one of the greatest guitarists out there. I own two american strats and a taylor, but i can still appreciate cheaper guitars. The player makes the sound, the guitar can only take you so far

that is very true about the player makes the sound. i own a custom shop gibson les paul and a taylor, and i agree that a squire is a good guitar for what it is, just a cheap watered down version of a real electric guitar, but it is not and was never ment to be a good guitar. i would rather play a squire than nothing at all, but i would rather play 95 percent of all the guitars in the world than a squire.
