  • I just rode up Cadillac today and I know the corner with the ice in the rocks.... I didn't like it today at 70+ degrees I can't imagine it in the mid to low 30's (only guessing)

  • I rode up in 1980. Not sure how easily I could do it now. I do remember it ws fun riding down.

  • Since when is November early winter?! :)

  • I made the climb on my bike last summer. It was awesome

  • I did it on my mtn bike with smooth tires, middle chainring, and found it rather easy, and that was after 2 days of pulling my 2-yr-old in his trailer over every hill in the park. Any cyclist in moderate condition will have no problem. Worst part is getting from town to the entrance road.

  • @userwow When you are in Maine.

  • Depends on what shape you're in and what type of bike you're on. I ride a 30 pound hybrid bicycle, and it usually takes just under 1 hour to go from downtown Bar Harbor to the summit of Cadillac.

There are avid cycling enthusiasts who can do it in under 40 minutes, and those who are out of shape make a day of the climb.

Just a heads-up, if you're going to try the climb during tourist season, make yourself as bright as possible since the drivers can be a little crazy.

  • how long does it take to bike up ?

  • thanks, me n my friend are thinking bout longboarding it this summer. I dont think wed hit 45 because our wheels are smaller but maybe 35ish. It seems doable so far. i guess we are at what we'll later consider our suicidal ages

  • Cool video. I hiked up the north ridge trail this weekend, but really wished that I brought my road bike.

It looks like the roads have been repaved since then. It should make for some pretty fun decents!

  • ok so say if you used brakes minimally, how fast would you say you get going down? 30-35?

  • In a full tuck with favorable winds I have gotten up to 45MPH near the summit. The descent is super fun, because the road is very smooth and most of the turns only require pulling out of the tuck to slow to 30-35MPH. There's one nasty hair-pin turn that needs braking (a lot of motorcyclists go flying off of this turn each summer), but that's it. You could break 45MPH with pedaling or on a road bike (I've gone 57MPH when I was younger) but I'm no longer at that suicidal age.
