Also every time i get my hand in their cage they always bolts for the weel and they wont ever get off the weel until i get my hand out of the cage. Like they wont give me a chance since they're always on the weel
Now sorry to bother you again but i hav one final question
How long did it take for your mice to get use to u for u to be able to handle them. The reason i ask is because i had my mice for about like a week and they're still skittish. How or when will i be able to hold them?
@Wolfbeast01 It will depend. My Mango was easily handled from the day I got her. She would walk into my hands almost immediately. Kiwi, on the other hand, never was the kind to get into your hand. She was still skittish but would calm down after a while. Most mice are like Kiwi, like you enough to come up to you but never want to be held. What I would do would be to sit with my hand in the cage for long periods at a time. Don't touch just let them come and sniff. And always have yummy food!!
Hi to anyone i have a question for anyone that knows this.
I got two female mice and their sisters. And I think there fighting.
I dont know if this is a sighn of dominance but when there both on the weel my bigger girl (Maisy) is attacking her skittish younger sister (Skittles). It seems that everytime Skittles is in front of Maisy on the weel she gets too agressive and Skittles squeeks.
What should i do plse give me an answer! Is it territorial reasons or what. Or is it jst being bratty?!
@Wolfbeast01 It depends. Are the squabbles long or very quick? Does the girl end up bleeding and hurt? How old are these sisters? How long have you had them?
I actualy got then yesterday, maybe they're jst stressed getting use to their new home. But they very young like about 4-5 months old. The little one was getting bit and scratched but no bleeding.
@Wolfbeast01 Squabbles means a little bitty fight. I would not worry about them honestly. If you just got them they are just working out who is the dominant mouse. It will probably settle in the next few days. And the best the to go by with mice is no blood, no problem.
Thank you so much for answering! Ill do that right now they're not fighting so thats a good sighn i guess. Oh and their squables are like a little quick but like 20 seconds later she fights over her weel. Its sad to see her little sister squeek and run away because the pet store lady said they were perfectly lovable back at the petstore.
@Wolfbeast01 That is probably because they were in another tank and a different mouse was the dominant one. Now that there is only two of them one of them is deciding to act as the leader. I highly doubt she will make one bleed. But if she does then go ahead and separate them for the day. Then I would put the one that is getting bullied in her own cage and let her "stink it up" for a few days, then bathe the dominant female and put her in with the other's cage slightly damp.
@Wolfbeast01 that way she will still be nervous from the bath and will be put into a cage that smells of another female. But like I said, she will probably not make her bleed. They will probably work out the kinks of being in a new home soon.
i have four mice two are from petsmart they are sweet i suggest petco or petsmart for mice because i got the other two at a place called pet stop and they smell horrible plus i got six from that store (with the two mice i have today) and they died one after another in fact im surprised how long the other two have lived but their pet supplies are great just not their mice
i used to have mice i used to take my little girl out everyday i walked around with her all over the neibor hood made sure i always took food and water it was great she used to hardly budge when she was out even though she was curious =D i wish u luck with your mice =D
Uhm, to note, wood chips are horrible for mice and rats, causing respiratory problems, and glass tanks are ok for babies who need to stay warm, but wire cages with solid floors are needed for adults so they have proper ventilation. A bigger cage might be necessary, too. I know more about rats than mice so I'd recommend looking up your pets online and finding out what many current owners recommend .
Very sweet mice, though~. They seem so tame. Most people have trouble.
@RatongaBruiser Yes I am well aware of that. The tank is fine, I emailed an expert, as I have a wire mesh top for ventilation. I have done tons of research on rats and mice. And the tank is fine according to many sources. And I know about the wood chips, I had to buy what came in a small bag cuz I have to fit stuff in places, but now that I have moved out of my apartment I am just finishing the bag I currently have. Plus, I think they have a pretty good life considering they were snake food :P
Oh, no doubt about their life. As I said, they seem very tame for mice. Most write them off as a pet to train and watch from a distance because they won't take the time to truly socialize them. Then seem very happy and, also mentioned, I'm more a rat person so I took a guess with the glass cage and the size. I tend to over-do anyway and had a 4ft tall/long and 2ft wide cage for just two hamsters. :P Now it's doubling as a rat cage and bird cage. Heh.
My mouse Chizzler. Kinda looks like the smaller one:)

@morganmnp3 /I had a screen lid, but I don't keep my mice in that container anymore. I keep them in a larger bin that fits under my bed.

@silvertigersteed I do too, but mice are smaller and cheaper and I am working too much to take care of a rat right now.
