  • If I went to a piano teacher would that be better than trying to find an organ teacher because I cannot find one anywhere the only one I found is the place I am going to now but its far away and she doesnt really know how to teach. Shes not letting me learn from sheet music just a lesson book with a few bar notes on them, At least to me I would rather learn from sheet music and songs that I would like to play

  • Hi NorthernSoulKing

Watch videos and listen to recordings and analyze what the player is doing and duplicate and memorize it. That is a tested and proven way of improving one's playing.

But most important of all: practice as much as you can. Many hours a day if possible.

Another tips: learn one left hand jazz blues bass line so well it is totally ingrained. Then you start playing riffs, licks and phrases with the right hand (and after some time also improvise).

  • if you had real drawbars on that thing you could play it like a Hammond.

  • Hi gingervytis

I usually just dial in a registration that I like and go. But you can for sure also 'play the drawbars' on the Nord C1/C2.

You might be interested checking out Eddie Landsberg (here at YouTube) playing a really great version of Days of Wine and Roses. During that recording he plays the drawbars a lot on the C1.

'Real' drawbars, like e.g. the B-3/C-3 is better though, no denying that :-)

  • what key are you in?

  • Hi robfilmer

This 12 bar blues is in the key of F.

  • @rounder2u F Blue is my favorite blues key...props

  • Thanks hiphoproduction!

For blues played at the jazz organ, F is something special. It is suitable for the instrument and for the hands and for the sound. The lowest C for the bass line is of good use as it is the fifth to the F, and it also feels good to walk down to the lowest C for the dominant. And in general the key of F sounds good. At the piano though, my opinion is that the key of G sounds better. Well, my two cents only...

  • Hi kriegwon

    Thanks for your comment!

I'm sorry, but it now looks like I accidentally deleted your comment when I was going to reply to you. I don't know how to get your comment back, if that's possible at all.

Well, mishaps are parts of the blues, arn't they...

  • OK, do that in Db.

  • Hi nebzahlerman

You suggest me playing 'Low Out Blues' even lower, down in Db? That would make me feel even more low :-)
