4 people are that newspaper that endes up blowing under the train, as it departs the Station, 2 people are a rat and mouse that have been shocked by the third rail after scurrying around the tracks, and that last 1 person is one of the old Hawker Siddeley cars. Together they make 7 dislikes -_o
I read that the Hawker-Siddley cars were supposed to be moved over to the Orange line. Has that happened? Those cars are too modern to be replaced so soon.
@RDG484 Thats soo cool that Boston Has Hawker Siddeley Trains too. In Toronto, you can do a Search on YouTube for it. But Now the Bombardier T-1s Dominate all the lines over here in Toronto. Currently The oldest Subway cars for us is the Hawker Siddeley H-4. But the Largest Fleet of hawkers is the H-5s. (Thanks God there still in Service still).
I visit New England and Boston quite often. The new trains are like tin cans. The old ones are much more comfortable. In fact when I see new ones, i just stay and wait for an old one. I shouldn't worry though, the old ones will be around for a while. Just look at the red line.
I like how much quieter the new cars are, but I have to agree that they are very uncormfortable to ride in. The seats have no shape to them, and try and dump you out onto the floor and slam you into your neighbor when going around a curve. Otherwise, I think the new blue line cars are really nice.
well after march 2009 all of the old blue line trains will be gone only 0600-0617-0622-0623 will remain but wont be in revenue service so get used to the new trains
Do you think that's good. The new tin cans, oops I mean trains are uncomfortable and the seats are hard. I don't know what the MBTA was thinking. The old red line trains were supposed to be gone 10 years ago and they are still around though..
yes i realize thats the new blue line trains do have hard seats and uncomfortable but the trains do make a six car train and are bigger the old blue line trains just kept rusting because of the salty air the new trains dont and plus the old trains werent wheel chair accesible the new trains do have room for wheelchairs
Then please ask them why instead of wasting money on tin can blue line trains and expensive Charlie Card equipment, why don't they work on fixing up the stations, like Orient Heights which is still not handicapped accessible and government center. Also, ask them why after 20 years, the Green Line "E" branch is still "temporarily suspended" past Heath St.
@Sulla2300 the old ones had to go because the salt air they encounter on most of their route had rotted out the undersides of most of them. i ride them quite often as i live about 5 minutes from the end of the blue lines route
Those have been trashed! ;( I want them back!

I liked the old ones better. They're a memory from my childhood, as cheesy as it sounds.
I've always loved the MBTA for some reason.

Those plans fell through long ago.
The cars are too rusted and rotten due to the salt air by the ocean. The cars are being stripped and scrapped.
Motor and truck parts are going towards the Orange Line cars, controll parts are going to some of the Red Line cars.

Salt air--that explains everything. Thanks.

I kind of like the way the old Blue Line trains look, the corrugated sides, and the larger ammount of blue than the new trains.
The new ones have a Terminator Cyberdyne look to them.

You must work for the MBTA or something. Let me guess, you also support $2.00 fares?

yes i do

Hey semen, waiting for a bus and then getting off and waiting for a trolley is not the same as a one ride on a trolley from Jamaica Plain to Park St
Sulla2300 3 years ago
he's right you know, the 0600's are far superior to the 0700's anyway.

The NEW Subway Cars require a '500 mile break-in period' before they are put into Revenue Service.
That's why it will be 2009 - at least - when ALL of the new cars will be in service.

i didnt like them either glad to see they will be all gone by 2009 and all the new cars out

Cool photos. The music goes well along with this. Sort of a "Hills Street Blues" type of feel. Thanks for sharing :)
