I think it’s just after he leaves the gas station where he cut and shaved off his beard in the men’s room (or did he do that in the hospital?).
There was likely a wordless, or virtually wordless montage, where the two strangers momentarily comforted each other in their loneliness, before he moved on. That the producer left the beginning of the scene in was the only sloppy cut that I know of in the continuity.
Bits of this (played by horns here) did find its way into the film, but with different instrumentation.
My hunch is that some or all of it accompanied a scene that was butchered.
Remember the dead-end scene where Kimble is walking alongside a highway, and it’s getting dark? A lonely, middle-aged woman stops her car, offers him a ride, and he gets in. And then the movie jumps scenes….
Love this score, I must have listened to it over a 100 times, this is indeed an alternate version of the main theme that wasn't in the film, but it was on the soundtrack cd. James on piano but I forgot the name of the saxophone player.
Im so glad I found this. When I was younger my older brother had this on his ipod and I haven't been able to find it until now. I wish they had used this song more in the film. Its such a beautiful yet haunting piece. It easily could be used to reflect Kimble's feelings of being completely alone in the world, and Gerard's difficulty of trying to piece to together Kimble's situation while hunting him down.
I needed to show this to someone as an example of a track I want to do and I'm so glad you have this up. This is one of the best things to come out of film music! Glad everyone else gets to hear it!!
O_O WHat is this??!! I consider myself as a huge JNH fan. But i didn't know about this piece. I though i have sheets of the fugitve i don't know if it is this STUNING piece:S I really hope it is=D Thanks for sharing this!! 5*
If it is, you have to send it to me! I'd really like to learn this too! This cue is from The Fugitive soundtrack but it wasn't played in the film. Very reminiscent of film noir and lonely nights in the city, I reckon.

I agree. It's haunting. It really evokes the loneliness Kimble must have felt while on the run--isolated from society, missing his wife, etc.
