  • drugs are bad mmk

  • Buddhism: we must be kind but we must also understand that to help a drug addict is to first tell him that drugs are bad for him. For a drug addict to leave drugs we must show him how it has negativly affected his life and how it has effected other peoples lives. Even then he will try to justify his use of drugs even though he truely knows in his heart that it is wrong. We tell him what he is doing is wrong not to hurt him but to help him we do it out of compassion & sadly some will not listen.

  • I have Cardiomyopathy and my doctor has refused to try me on Ritolin as he said this could be dangerous so he would like to try me on Atomoxetine would you know if this is dangerous for someone with this heart condition?

  • and am looking to go onto Strattera I hope I dont get this same reaction, if I do will beta blockers help?

  • Strangely Im getting Tachycardia from 200mg seroquel! Ive used it for 6 months with no problems at all and then all of a sudden I started getting tachycardia BPM 120-130 I stopped the meds and my heart rate returned to 60-80bpm. Then I waited 2 weeks and resumed the seroquel and the next day sure enough the tachycardia returned. I stopped the meds agian and agian 60-80 bpm. My BP tonight was 130/80 which is ok. Why would a sedative antipsychotic cause tachycardia. I have ADHD......

  • I'm currently on atomoxetine and methylphenidate, taken for ADHD. I've been diagnosed with sinus tachycardia (averaging about 110 bpm) my bp is also high. I'll probably end up taking a beta-blocker also. Living in Wales, which is Britain's back yard, third world secret, I'll have ventricular cardiomyopathy by the time I get prescribed them :( Have you had any experience with bupropion, which they are prescribing commonly now in the States as a non-stimulant treatment option?

  • @VinVilhjalmsson

no, i havent tried burpropion yet. i am now taking amphetamine, which even lowers (!) my blood pressure - even now after months of taking it. my heart rate can be a little higher therefor, but it is never above 80 when truely resting. amphetamine is very, very cheap, much cheaper than ritalin, while it's also more potent - so i need less (in mg) of it and it also lasts longer. so yeah, i am happy with amphetamine and sticking with that. :)

  • @bionerd23 Sorry haven't followed all the way through...I found that l lost my appetite and lost too much weight on any of those...I am interested in other options ...subbed!

  • Try taking a little of it at a time So its considered as less (Mg) ask You're doctor if You can take half of it at a time? or for him to lower your (MG) I hope everything works out for everyone AMEN. :)

  • @bionerd23 You're destroying yourself.

  • @Sub40H yes this is normally true, but in some cases that is not so. for example i have a hypertension disorder brought on by my pregnancy. called preeclampsia. the extra blood flow instead of lowering my pressure increases it. it depends on the circumstances.

  • I stoped takeing my meds because risk that the drugs could make my heart stop

  • @Sub40H

not that i could be affected by this :P, but yeah, that doesnt sound like fun. well, SNRIs seem useless, anyway.

  • adhd and add are fake aload of crap

  • Very Nice! 5/5! I love your experiments! Normally, my heart rate would be through the roof. I have Major Panic Disorder. I'm sure it would be extremely low from the medications I'm taking now. My parents put me on Ritalin when I was a kid, and I didn't even have ADD/ADHD! It made ME psychotic! No wonder I was a nervous wreck all the time! I begged them to stop putting Ritalin down my throat, but they didn't listen. Now I'm 26. I'm on Klonopin® (Clonazepam) and Fentanyl. Very Potent Depressants!

  • @KarbineKyle

yeah, that's reasonable... ritalin is a stimulant after all, i guess it would increase a panic disorder. but @ clonazepam and fentanyl - what the heck? why are you taking such incredibly addictive substances for panic disorder, when there are antidepressants that work well for panic disorder without being so insanely addictive? you're taking a benzodiazepine (a substance like valium, withdrawl is about equal to alcohol addiction, can kill you) and an opiate there... that's crazy.

  • @bionerd23 Can Benzo withdrawl kill you, surely you would have to be taking large dosages for long periods of time?

  • @An0nYm0u5443

yes, you have to take it for at least weeks, and to kill you, you'll have to take it for months or years. you can pretty much compare it to alcohol dependance, it has almost the same effects, just less liver damage etc. - but from the psychological effects, dependance and withdrawl, it's very similar.

  • well, yeah, that happens, i heard. though with an SNRI (such as strattera) it is less common than aggression and psychotic behavior due to an SSRI ("common" antidepressant, such as zoloft or prozac). Eric was obviously on an SSRI when he decided it's time to murder everybody at columbine high school, so yeah... gotta be careful with psychotrophic substances.

  • I've been taking Stratterra for 7 weeks now and I noticed too that it makes my body calmer but it doesn't help my concentration. It does allow me to sit at my desk longer and lay down and relax longer.

  • hmm, yeah, strattera is atomoxetine, an SNRI, basically a type of antidepressant. i had a trial with reboxetine, a similar drug, and it only made me feel dizzy and queasy and horrible. it did make me calm, too, but didnt have too positive effects otherwise. that's why i switched to taking stimulants now... i found ritalin to have hardly any side effects, pretty nice. amphetamine works better, but i get headaches now and then, and you gotta be careful not to "crash" with the rebound effect.

  • yeah the Stratterra makes me a little queasy sometimes too. My doctor is backing me off of the Stratterra now and having me start Adderall or Ritalin in about 3 weeks. I'm hoping to get better results. Do you know which is better?

  • well, ritalin would have fewer / less severe side effects on e.g. the heart than amphetamine (which adderall is), so i'd try ritalin first and only if that doesnt work, try adderall (and monitor your blood pressure and heart rhythm on both substances, though).

  • apart from that, both substances work for some people, and for others, they dont... so there's no real "better" drug, it's an individual choice. but yeah, amphetamine has more severe side-effects (also a "hangover", mild to moderate depression when "coming down" is possible, which rarely occurs on ritalin, as it only works on dopamine and noradrenaline receptors, while amphetamine works on the two AND serotonine receptors, too).

  • yeah it its bullshit it makes me go nuts

  • I started taking Levodyn because i was keen to bring my blood pressure down without resorting to prescription medicine. i have been taking it for less than 4 weeks but have already noticed a change. Before taking Levodyn my blood pressure was 152/86, it is now 128/76. i am really impressed.

  • How come some EKGs when they show a flatline has a 0 for the heart rate, but others have a down arrow?

  • ansonsten findest du auf meiner flickr seite mein EEG als druckversion (link siehe youtube - channel)

  • das ist sooo langweilig :D

  • i took atomoxetine against my ADD but it gave me alot of side effects so i had to stop. right now im on methylphenidate and i feel much better. only minor side effects

  • hmm, atomoxetine and reboxetine are the same drug class, NRI... and i heard from quite a few people that mph has less side effects and works better, too. im really curious about it.

  • Tried strattera once for ADD - completely lost the ability to perform basic functions like adding two numbers together or to do word puzzles like crosswords.

As a techie it was scary. So scary I stopped pretty as soon as I could. It happened after the 3rd tier up-tick on dose start-up. Others I've talked to have had the same or similar unpleasant side effects.

    Keeps me on phenylethylamines instead.

  • yeah, strattera seems like pretty much bullshit to most people. i'm sticking with the phenylethylamines as well now, thank god... i mean, thank my doc. :-)

  • at the beginning you sound like a computer noise o_O

  • damn, you're the second person to say that my voice changed. i guess the NRI is really doing something weird to my brain after all... o_O

  • nah, not really... only if i ate too much... or drank too much. ;-)

but that doesnt happen too often.

  • no idea. it does that quite often; can see it somewhere near the end, too. i dont know why. seems harmless enough though.

  • Does this video mean everything worked out for you in terms of finding a new place to live?

  • yes, indeed! and i got my stuff back, too. hooray! \o/

  • Yay, awesome stuff :)

How are you doing these days? did you find somewhere else to live? did you get all of your stuff back?

  • fine, thank you - yes, i got a new flat and all my stuff back! wooohooo! i still need some shelves and lockers to put my stuff in so i can experiment like before... most of it is in boxes still, but the time will come... ;-)

  • Just wait a few more weeks for the other side effects to kick in.

Reboxetine gave me continuous cold shivers, embarrassing genital shrinking, pain in my scrotum, painful constipation and even painful orgasms.

Oh, and it helped neither my focus nor my mood one bit.

It almost seemed like whoever developed this drug confused "adult ADHD" with "hardcore BDSM". ;-)

  • oh dear, yeah, i read about those side-effects on men... i'm glad i am a woman, really. o_O

since how many days / weeks after your first pill did you experience the 'full side effects', then?

and do you take anything else now?

  • Where are you from? I can't figure out your accent =p

  • ha, i'll take that as a compliment! if you cannot figure out my accent, that means i dont sound like zhe stjuupid tscheerman i aktschually am! hu hum.. so yeah, i am from germany. :P

  • you have ADHD whats that

  • attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. google will tell you more. :P

  • i got an ide for the next vid it involves medical and nuclear stuff. go to a docter and tell them you got hypothiroidism and get yourself pumped with radioactive shit. XD sorry drank too much coffee(drank 15 cups this day and took a cafen pill). and again your biggest fan at the age of 12.

  • haha, actually, i was considering that... i will actually try and get my doctor to order a scintigraphy for me, as i have some thyroid issues and already had a scintigraphy done years ago. i hope he will agree, so i can make another awesome video and isolate technetium from my urine. ^_^

  • I don't see any delta waves that would indicate WPW disease. Have you ever seen an electrophysiologist to have an EP study done? They may be able to find the ectopic focus or foci and ablate them. If you are not having symptoms or it doesn't bother you I don't think it would be a big deal. I have PVCs from time to time. They upset me emotionally more than anything. I drink chamomile tea which is caffeine free and a natural sedative. Good luck!

  • oh good point, yeah, i remember reading about the delta waves. anyway, i think its just sinus arrythmia, as the onset isnt actually all of a sudden, and the rhythm isnt really fast either - it's not like bang, 160 bpm and then going back down to 80 all of a sudden, which would be more like reentry tachycardia.

  • i was at the hospital two years ago to get thoroughly checked, including intracardiac catheter (see my other videos).

most of my PVCs are from my LVOT. ablating right in the LVOT has about a 5% chance of fatality or severe injury. as it is right where the aortic valve is, damage to this valve is highly possible. damage to the heart is possible.

  • ablating in the left ventricle is the most dangerous thing to do, too, with about a 5% chance of stroke or severe cardiac injury that leads to death or makes you require heart transplantation, too.

  • NO WAY i'd EVER do that. my doctor strongly recommended against it, too. i dont care about the PVCs, there are just a few of them, and... how did marie curie say: nothing in life is to be feared, it is only to be understood. i have an ECG at home and, like on this ECG, i can quickly check if some arrythmia is potentially dangerous or not. and if i dont get severe side effects just as syncope...

  • i dont mind. it has been much worse though, i used to have 25.000 PVCs in one day - also, see my other videos for details on that. :-)

  • hey welcome back!! unhealthy resting heart rate you have :D

  • Glad to see you back, you were missed!

  • Welcome back to Video-Making! =D I just learned some new stuff with this one.

  • Wow, I am very sorry to hear about your health issues. I am studying to be a Pharmacist hear in American, and I am surprised/interested/relieved that they prescribed an anti-depressant rather than the common amphetamine's used in the United States to treat ADHD. I actually had to look up reboxetine because it is not yet licensed by FDA.

  • well, its a kind of different story here in germany - the reboxetine is licensed as an antidepressant only. and as this, it can be prescribed on regulary prescription, and you get it for free with health insurance. the psychiatrist just has to list "depression" as cause of prescription.

  • the amphetamine class - we only have methylphenidate AND pure amphetaminesulfate as capsules or liquid from pharmacies on special order, no ready-made pills like adderall - is prescribed on a special prescription paper ("BTM") classified as "negotiable drug class". you need an id and all that to get them.

  • also, neither amphetamine nor MPH is licensed for adult ADHD here, as in germany, adult ADHD does not exist by the law... which means its a private off-label drug prescription - and i would have to pay for ritalin myself, so around 100 dollars a month, while reboxetine would always be FREE.

  • thats a major reason why MPH or AMP isnt prescribed as easily here as in the US.

also, as strattera / atomoxetine is only for children here as well (as i said, adult ADHD doesnt exist in germany as by law), it would not be a BTM class drug prescription but i would only be able to get it on private prescription, too, so would have to pay 100% of it myself just as well.

  • you stuffed yourself full of drugs to make a video 0_o

  • lol, well, its just the drugs i take every day anyway... so i didnt take them JUST for the video. i usually take food with them though as to reduce possible side effects on the stomach, but thats the only thing i did differently. :-)

  • no fun in this! gief screaming geiger again !

  • YOU´RE BACK!!!! :DDDDDDDDD

when i saw the giant glass of espresso.... i just thought "o_O" no, really, i had to think of that smiley because it fits so well, lol

i think your body is just confused by all the drugs and forgot about the blood pressure xD

btw unitednuclear sells caffeine in its purest form (powder)!

  • heya dennis *hugs*! :D

lol, i have caffeine as caffeine pills, they are available in our pharmacies... each pill contains 200 mg of caffeine! just look for a drug called COFFEINUM. its an over the counter drug in germany, too. :-)

but, the pills take longer to kick in that caffeine bond to coffee + sugar... for some reason... maybe you can explain that effect, chemical-nerd? =)

  • WELLLLLLL.... *thinking quite loud* i THINK that could be due to how the caffeine gets in: a pill contains caffeine powder which has to dissolve before moving ANYWHERE. Coffe on the other hand contains the caffeine "dissolved" (or at least finest chunks spread out in the water) and therefore gets into your blood much easier... but i´m not quite sure

  • thanks people - yeah, managed to set up my ecg so far, however, my nuclear physics equipment is still in boxes because i do not have any shelf or locker for it yet, which i will need before unpacking the fragile stuff... so hang in there. :-)

its a pleasure to see people interested in scientific videos actually being happy that i am back though, it gives me a reason to do these videos at all. :-)

  • YES!!! You are finally back! I was worried about the "I lost my home" thing... Nice to have you back!

  • you're back! hooray!
