The problem is if too much sharing occurs, then the movies can't even be made anymore. The same is true with MM. If we all just dld his films, hed of made the movies for no reason, and probably would be broke. But I agree that it isnt necessarily wrong for people to share things. They just need to understand that it's better to buy them and continue to compensate those that make them (so they can make more!). The industry does need to stop acting like a complete victim though.
He's absolutely right, there is the freedom to share information, and then if you like it, you pay for it. I don't know if you all know that people with good music may start giving it freely and then when they get fans and people liking it, they pay for it, that happens in Brazil for example.
I think a majority of people who do get this stuff for free, who actually enjoy it, or take something from it - they do go out and buy it to support the people who made it. Exception is probably a majority in Russia. It's pretty common for most there to be using pirate versions of Windows, and Windows software like the Office suites. Adobe software, Apple, along with video games, movies, music...
... it's only recently that laws have come in there to stop (optimistically - lol - halve) it.
2 ALL HOLLYWOOD SO CALLED STARS IF U SUPPORT SOPA U ARE NO LONGER A STAR AND NOW U ALL WILL BE BOYCOTTED NONE OF YOUR FANS WILL WATCH YOUR SHIT NO MORE U DID IT TO YOURSELVES GHOST! NOT YOUR FAN ANYONE OF U WHO SUPPORT SOPA I AM FREEDOM GHOST!
I can't see him as a genuine guy, because he has so much money that he doesn't bother him as much as a striving director or musician. Same goes for his stance of wall street. Keep making your movies and stfu
Copyrights was good idea to have come around as a way to protect artist and whatnot from being overtly copied, their original idea stolen. And a good example of that would an individual, or a few, coming up with great ideas, making a product out of them, and then a corporation picking that idea up, regurgitating them into a copy-product and owing them nothing of their profits. THAT's what can justify copyrights. Not individuals sharing amongst themselves when most of them would never buy anyway.
Wow , and I thought this guy was a complete dipshit! I might just watch one of his movies now! That's the most intelligent view on "piracy" I've heard from a celebrity yet!
There is no such thing as "Illegal downloads" and I would love to argue the case in court, because essentially if I gave you a free compressed-copy of a DVD that I own and you accepted it, you would be the one "Illegally downloading". The only difference is the medium and method upon which its distributed.
There's absolutely no point in bringing up Lily Allen's views on file sharing. You may just as well ask a Giraffe what it thinks of zoonotic disease surveillance. After all, that's an issue that affects the Giraffe, but it certainly doesn't mean the Giraffe has the mental equipment to deal with or even understand the issue. She's entitled to her opinion, no matter how ill-informed and nepotistic it may be.
I believe Lily gave up on this filesharing debate because she couldn't handle the abuse that was appearing on her blog.
As if her tunes were worth a penny to anyone ! ?
She's too lazy to get a real job and is helping to "entertain the nation" (brainwash the nation) by appearing in tabloids every other day, along with other rich kids, desperate for friends.
Being an American; Michael Moore dosen't really have much to do with the UK Pirate Party. But I agree with him, as long as its non-profit its OK. All publicity is good publicity right?
PS Lily Allen is just jumping on the anti-piracy bandwagon, she's abondoned her "Fuck the BNP" campaign to focus on something that could make her a little extra cash. She is a Mock-ney Golddigging dirty cash whore who disguises it under the fact that her "Boyfriend" is a builder.
Well, you say that he doesn't have much to do with PPUK, which is true in one sense, but false in another. There are going to be people downloading his movie for free in the UK after all. Just as they will around the world.

He doesn't really object to copyright laws or software sharing, he just wants to spread his bullshit movies to as many people as possible.

His chosen model of 'friends sharing a book or DVD' is a redundant analogy for digital file sharing online.
It would only be correct if his analogy was a person sharing his DVD, digitally, with thousands (or even millions) of strangers.
If that's his understanding of online file sharing then it's incredibly wide of the mark.
