Cobain did have one Mosrite that he played and reportedly two: One, A Blue MK V that he gave to Pat Smear and Two, A "Gospel" Which I think was just an old stock Ventures II Version 3 (Earlier design of the MK V) With a new logo painted on.
Don't get confused, Johnny Ramone's Ventures II guitars were all Version 1s.
@StainIessChina They played other models. Johnny always played a Ventures II (First Generation) Model, Cobain briefly played a Mark V model that was sold as a Gospel model. (I think it was a new old stock guitar that had the logo painted over)
@StainIessChina Replying to my old comment, Allow me to correct myself. Johnny usually played a Ventures II First Generation model but had a few others including at least one Ventures I model.
@uppertaka Rock Lobster by The B-52's. Their original guitarist played Mosrite guitars. You really should check the song out. The band's whole first album is still ridiculously entertaining to me. Here's a link to the song... watch?v=hkkZLD20_rQ&fmt=18
@timrocket2 Lucky bastard... Nah. Congratulations. I wonder if yours is a Japanese guitar from the 60s or 70s though. If it has a rectangular neck plate and says Avenger on the headstock its of a Japanese make so its not official (Originals were manufactured in America) But its still worth at least $750 USD.
@101Volts i know this comment 8 months old but i never bought one of these for 10 quid i never knew i made that comment idk what i mustve been taking lol

Memories! I had this guitar in Sunburst during the late 60's and early 70's. I paid $100 used for it and used it for about one year. Great guitar and super fast neck.Yep- I wish I had it now!
By far my favorite Phil X vid. All the surf riffs and a little Ramones is always good. Phil X you put the jizz on it and move that thing around! Damn your Awesome!

Erik Brann of Iron Butterfly played Mosrites. I think their bassist did too. I had one back in the 80's. Should have kept it. Hey Phil, play some Iron Butterfly on a Mosrite!! Semie Moseley would be proud.
I had one of these till it got stolen.I recall the neck was wat too thin and the tremolo sucked and went out of tune...but I still wish I still had it
Speaking as a Brit, I must say it was Hank Marvin & The Shadows who were the main instrumental band to influence British guitarists. The Ventures were were nowhere near as popular here. Waits for US readers to explode!!!
@TheSkyLineBand1 hi flyer is a copy of this and univox is a copy of mosrite so univox hi flyer double copy great punk grunge guitar and has some nice clean tones
I love the phrase "custom-color" cause there is a guy in my home town who buys and sells used gear. He will just spout stuff like that when you are considering. Also stuff like "wow, that case was made for that guitar. it's perfect" but he's monotone and sorta on autopilot so he doesn't seem like he is even there.
@CCRockit I believe Carvin manufactured the original pickups on these and they are not P-90s, though they are the same size shape etc..the are pretty unique sounding pups , but don't know how they are classified exactly.
@donuntboy25 Actyally Johnny usually used different model (Mark III ?) which got fixed bridge, Dimarzio SuperDistortion single coil at bridge and mini humbucker in neck...
It's pronounced Mose-rite with a long O, not Moss-rite. You gonna sell a legendary guitar, at least get the name right. & stop playing the Ramones with upstrokes. Down strokes only.

would you recommend this guitar for Beatles. I think it wouldn't be to great with them, but I really like the guitar and I learn all Beatles. My choices is a Rickenbacker 360 or this. What should I get?
What's this guy's name? Very entertaining. Walk, Don't Run was originally written and played by Jazz great, Johnny Smith. The Ventures heard Chet Atkins do it and based their version on his.
