The Netherlands is buying the wrong fucking plane. We should buy just a few of those. Why do we need 85 f-16's anyway? we barely use 10 max at a time.
The simple fact is, the F-22 is so good it has no one to fly against that would be worthy or a challenge. There is no need to purchase more than 200 in my opinion. That is enough for the time being, if war ever breaks out with a country that might present a challenge to our planes, we can put them back into production in no time
HA HA, that's the biggest bunch of pure CRAP I've ever heard, written by propagandists in a nation with a populace stupid enough to believe it! The F-22's production cancellation after 187 examples is purely a result of how good the F-22 is...There's simply nobody to fly it against and it's expense is not easily justifiable due to the fact that it's head and shoulders above ANYTHING else!

The Lust for Pork Gates, Congress and the F-22 By Winslow T. Wheeler
Playing Defense By Winslow T. Wheeler and Pierre M. Sprey
Well you have proven yourself to be an ignorant dumbfuck. Those articles have no truth to them regarding the capabilities of the F-22. Just some know it all Washington douchebag that makes bullshit non sense claims. The F-22 get beat by the F-16 in a dogfight? Not likely. But you believe it all don't you? By the way what's with all the homo shit? You must be trolling for cock. Take it somewhere else assboy.
Due to heavy rain leading upto the event, the car parks became more suitable for mud wrestling. The car parks were considered to dangerous to allow cars in. The 2 public airshow days were sunny, but not enough to dry them out. Blue skys but no planes, very frustrating!!
I guess Max the pilot should be the one to answer that. I missed filming his previous moves as I just stood there in utter amazement with camera in hand. I was hoping to film his display on the following two days but alas the show was cancelled. Gutted
What do you mean? Lockheed Martin built the raptor not northrop; the government hasn't scraped the program, they've order 180 to be designated as the A variet, with more coming online up until 2011; and they will be suplemented by a force of more than four thousand f35's.
Okay, so I did a little research, and it turns out that things aren't so sure right now. They have 120, and will sort of stop at 180, but the airforce is lobbying congress to earmark enough money for "four more raptors, and to keep the production line open, providing the next U.S. President with the option of buying more". From what I understand the DOD doesn't want many more because the f35's going on line have most of the capability at a fraction of the cost.
This is why the USAF wants the US Government to allow Australia to buy F-22's, amongst other strategic and regional reasons. It will keep the production line open and lower the per unit cost allowing the USAF to buy more than currently ordered at a cheaper cost. The UK, Japan and Israel are the other allies with half a chance. Israel, much less a chance since they sold the Patriot missile designs behind your back. You were rightly pretty pissed off about it. Great plane though. Want it down under.
I don't think the Australian government is even asking for the raptor. It is so expensive, and for the cost it isn't a great "all rounder". Australia wants something that can bat and bowl, more than it wants a home run hitter, or a 300 bowler. This is why they're looking at the f35, its a multi role fighter, with much of the f22's capability but at a fraction of the cost.
Correct on us not officially requesting the 22. I have issues with the 35 though. The way the cost is climbing at present, it won't be much cheaper than the 22 at the end of the day. The 22 can now capably deal with air to ground as well. I'd prefer the 22 any day mate. I still wish we'd amend our request to Congress. Next gen Flankers etc in our region with nutcakes like Indonesia, Nth Korea etc will be too close in capability to the F-35. Arguably better in some circles.
Agreed. How expensive is the 35 nowadays for you all? Here it's about forty million a copy. I think it'd be great for the aussies to have the raptor, especially with those flankers near you like you said.
I think the 35 is creeping up close to US$83mill per unit for all of us including the US.That's the F-35A, that is. B & C model are more expensive.A Raptor comes in at just over US$137mill per unit (flyaway cost)at present. With more orders that would come down to around US$110mill per Raptor. Now the way the F-35 is going, she could end up somewhere between US$90-100mill.Now the price argument between the two is negligible. At that price the USAF would be dribbling with excitement to order more.
And on the other side of the pond you have The Swedish Saab selling their Gripen, the paneuropean Eurofighter consortium selling their high-tech Typhoon air superiority fighter, and the well respected and historically proven French manufacturer Dassault Brequet with their Rafale. And if you take only a couple of steps to the east, there are the good old engineers from Mikoyan Guyrevich and Sukhoi ready to give you a surprise.
If you ask me, European flying seems to be in quite good order.
Americans can design some pretty damn interesting lethal toys

shame they're pulling the project and shame for Northrop that the US Govt probably won't even be able to pay them for what they've already ordered...

you're right, sorry, Lockheed... mixed up... no honestly, they have canned the project past the 180 mark... no more being made after that...
