  • Layne there will never be another one like you! Absolutely brilliant voice, absolutely brilliant performance. Only you could have sung so good while at the same time you looked sick as ever...

  • @kdobson23 How do you feel guilty for enjoying a song because of the life choices of someone who sang it? That's ridiculous.

  • @kdobson23 guilty for liking it so much? Just because he was a junkie? Wow.

  • what is written on that dudes guitar looks like magic marker but what does it say ?

  • What a great band. Nothing flashy just cool, calm and collective playing great music. RIP Layne Staley. This Unplugged performance is amazing love the guitar play and the harmony these guys played with

  • Love this performance, R.I.P Layne.

  • <3 when Layne says :" By the way, By the way"

  • Absolutely brilliant. Why do all the talented musicians have to leave this world so early. Music would be so much better if he had stayed around and was able to change his habit but it is what it is and the only thing we can do now is remember him for what he was... Needless to say RIP Layne

  • maybe ppl dislike the video because they miss him

  • This is an absolutely AMAZING performance of one of my favorite AIC songs. Rest in peace sweet Layne. You had a voice of an angel. I love this band.

  • @MooreParanoid09 A brilliant voice is obvious but no angel could ever sing like that. I'd argue that this is the voice of a tortured junkie and it makes me feel guilty for enjoying it so much. Layne, you are missed.

  • "sludge factory unplugged" sounds disturbing.

  • "No One, and i say No One can Pull this off like Layne!"

    THE GREATEST VOX EVER!

    EPIC PERFORMANCE! \m/

  • @TheSatanskid666 I couldn't agree more.

  • Satan Made Him Sound That Way...

  • @Sir69Tbags

    Satan rocks!!!

  • 2 dislikes? What's to dislike, that what I want to know haha

  • @ChrisMovieCentral I haven't the slightest fucking clue. If only they weren't cowards, they could have commented as to what they disliked. Had they actually commented, I would have had the chance to slaughter them with words, laugh my ass off as you loyal fans criticized the shit out of them, and then eventually delete their shitty comments.

  • @hyperopticon

I think there's a slight misconception of the definition of the word ''like''.

Anyway, I dont really give a flying FUCK whether people like this song or not. I like it. I fucking like it with all my heart, and I know for myself what I mean with the word ''like''. So fuck off, grow up, and start realizing you're here to listen to music, for yourself. Who knows what reason they have for disliking the video, who cares?

    Fuckin stupid people on YouTube...

  • @hyperopticon

No really, I'm kinda sick of those dislike comments everyone throws in, just to get some fucking thumbs up on a stupid video comment block. Post something relative, that shit is gettin old man.

  • @ChrisMovieCentral i think the peps disliked cause its not the full version with the epic fuck that layne pulls but thats still no reason to dislike this stupid mofo's

  • By the way, By the way, How did he make his voice sound like that 2:01

  • Do The Melvins operate the sludge factory?

  • @y2jsavior I'd assume so. I think (the) Melvins operate most heavy machinery.

  • Where the Fuck Part? and start over again HAHA! ? Loved it cause i got to listen to it some more

  • @xXxCulpxXx That's a different version of the performance. This is the performance directly following the one to which you refer.

  • the black dude can't sing like that

  • @OHCHSViking2424 Jb's ok. He sings alright, his music is ok and he gets bitches. Why hate?

  • 90's ruuuuule!

  • Absolutely brilliant version, it owns the studio one. Great performance by everyone but I have to single out Layne. He sounds SO good, I could listen to him singing all day, I'm sure about that. Rest in peace, man.

  • he's so fuckin high its not even funny

  • cartooooooooooooooon size

  • the two dislikes makes it look like the fag Layne probably had after this concert (edit; fag means cigarette in case haters gonna hate ;) )

  • what an amazing dope sick performance

  • The (currently) two dislikes were because they couldn't be at that show and watch this example of genius in person.

  • I can't believe the bullshit people call music these days. It makes me sick, it really does. I believe that Justin Beiber is modern day Hitler. He ruins everything he touches. I'm not trying to be mean, but something about the guy, I'm not jealous or any thing, (although he is attractive, for a female) but he just ruins everything for me. Anyways, Alice In Chains for ever! RIP Layne!

  • @OHCHSViking2424 fuck off, every damn vid I see people complain about this kid. I don't like him either, but seeing his name everywhere is getting old just because you're a thumbs up - whore.

  • you kindly gurgle out a date from me!... yeah!

  • I'm high!

  • CarrrtOOOOOOOON siiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiizzzze

  • awwya

  • this song should be a single by now... :P

  • "fu#k"

  • Gave me chills..

  • This has to be the best version of this song. Not every band can pull off an epic unplugged session like this...and that's why Alice in Chains will forever be the greatest band ever!!!!

  • THIS is what it's all about. Distorted guitars ripped down to the bare essentials. Layne and crew just tore it up live. This is my favorite CD of all time. RIP Layne Staley. Not a day goes by that your voice doesn't grace my ears. Sadly, sadly missed.

  • I actually like the Unplugged version of this song better than the studio version.

  • My sons name is Layne is memory of the great Layne Staley.

  • That eye brow at 131 is bad ass

  • @fltndb layne was bad ass R.I,P.

  • man I always want to call my local rock station and ask them to play this but never do. fucking great song

  • Such an amazing song

  • This music took me to a place that nobody and no problem could ever touch me...Layne lives on through his music and his fans/followers...rock on!!! \m/

  • Best mtv unplugged ever

  • i was privledged to see layne in early 2001.... boy this guy was so sad in the end... your face lives in ink on my back my friend.

  • @multimoomoo99 you got to meet layne in 2001? thats awesome man!! tell me about it ! please haha?

  • One of the best lyrical performances in rock history! The whole unplugged set is a gem, luckily captured forever so we can admire Layne properly.

  • Puta esse video é muito louco mano Musica Boa minha preferida toda vez que Escuto ela Lembro de quando eu era piqueno

  • This just gave me an out of body experience

  • @grapeapevine your way late.. he pasted in 02, man.

  • R.I.P Layne Staley!!

Your voice gets me chills til this day and

    alway will!

    x/3

  • Smoke grape hash to the entire unplugged all 13 songs. I could feel the energy. Best live band ever. He sounds better live than on a cd thats almost impossible. God bless u man rip in jesus christ name. We pay are debts on time.

  • he died??????????????????????????????????

  • @grapeapevine

    You're a bit late.

  • I love how EVERYONE cries for Kurt Cobain even to this very day, but nobody (except, of course, AiC fans) mourns Layne.

RIP Layne, YOUR voice, not Kurt's, defined the '90s for me, and for that you deserve to be remembered.

  • Thank god there are no dislikes to this video.Hate to slap a bitch

  • @bigchris0886 Your time for bitch slapping has come my friend, as there are two people who have "disliked" this video. Prepare your pimp hand.

  • @hyperopticon fosho lol

  • smoking a cigarette and playing bass = badass

  • Rip Layney!

    Stunning Performance...

  • sounds great thanks and im old and i remember taping this on mtv when it aired in 96 wish i knew what the hell i did with it damn

  • The eyebrow cock at 1:31 is fucking amazing

  • Fuck man, layne is trashed... He still sounds amazing though.

  • Man this song is fucking amazing! It really should be given more cred.

  • Did he make a deal with the devil for that voice.

  • thumbs up if you think layne staley is the greatest rock vocalist in the history of humanity? and the fact that this band isnt in vh1's top 10 is a testament to how ignorant the voters are... !

  • I will bleed for you Layne, like you have bled for us.

  • the thing i love about layne is that he sounds almost exact as he does in albums

  • just listening to the whole unplugged peformance, i feel like im on opiates, fuck

  • MTV stands for Music Television. Does someone want to tell me why the fuck rappers and shit took it over, thats not music.....anybody can fiddle with a soundboard and use voice changers. This is fucking music!!! Fuck the new MTV with their "sucker free countdown". those people arent artist their just a bunch of worthless gangbangers who, like i said, know how to fiddle with a soundboard and use voice changers. Who the fuck listense to "music" that talks about ho's an bitches and cocaine? wtf!!!!

  • LOVE AIC!!

  • SUPER LIKE! RIP LAYNE!

  • Im high!

  • Favorite song from Tripod!!!!!!

  • this videos got 0 likes, no surprise.

  • @kurdt234 it got 29 likes you eyeless fuck !

  • Layne hurts my heart - if ever there was someone to ressurect...

    <3 AIC

  • fuck bitches

  • Comment removed

  • this is such a better version than on the regular album, live is the way to listen to this song!

  • @dannyingram1000

Most of the songs in "Tripod" are better live. I don't know, but in the album, his voice and the bass seem dumbed down somehow.

  • @LmTzz I wouldn't say dumbed down, but on the Unplugged performance I think his voice sounds much warmer, and he sings with a lot more 'soul'.

  • RIP Layne and Mike

  • hell yea alice in chains are badass. im 16 years old and most kids my age dont listen to this...its better then that rap and jonas brother shit

  • @david6967 hell yeah this is a 1000 times better than that jonas queer shit

  • @david6967 when i was sixteen (4 years ago) I too was the only person I knew listening to AIC. Layne Staley is a god

  • @david6967 I'm right there with you, man. Today's music really lost it's value.

  • @david6967 same thing :)

  • @david6967 Oh god..a hipster and a musically oblivious 8th grader in one bite.

  • @Panda6568 not to sound like a smart ass/douche but 16 years old is grade 11/12 =)

  • @AnFmusic010 Facepalm... Apparently you've never heard of musically oblivious 8th grader, you've officially made yourself sound like a douche.

  • @Panda6568 rofl thats what i planned on =)

  • @david6967 im 16 years old 2 but all rap ant bad (i know you didnt say all rap sucks but if you did) you have to find the right rapper like immortal technic, bone tugs, 2pac, biggie smalls, big L, eminem. they dont rap about money, girls, drugs, all the time and mostly rap about stuff that matters. but there is NO WAY IN HELL i would choose to liston to rap instead of bands like alice in chains and my other favorite band and stuff. and the jonas brothers..... well..... there just plane shit lol

  • @david6967 good for you dude.... this is the shit right here.

  • @david6967 Welcome to the Grunge Crew! ;)

  • @david6967

Good on you son! You're half my age.

  • @david6967 It is okay to like rap and rock. Musical tastes are highly personal and saying one genre is better than another is like saying one color is better than another. Leads to nothing but a circular argument.

  • @Da1UHideFrom

I dont really believe in musical taste. You can like any music you want if you just try to respect the artists. I listen to anything from Tupac to technical death metal like the band Death. :)

What a great song, acoustic this song is so diffrent, I love it!

  • @Brutalyeah Because you don't believe in musical taste don't mean they don't exist. Consider yourself lucky that you can enjoy such a wide range of music because many people simply cannot.

  • @Da1UHideFrom

Hmm, I don't consider myself lucky, music is like a drug, I can't enjoy alot of things anymore without it.

  • MTV sucks now. i wish i was older wen it was like this

  • @PullMyFinger21 i wonder y is still called MTV.

  • @PullMyFinger21 it was never "like this"... even then (as always) bad music was more popular :) but I have to say that bad music then was better than bad music nowadays, I guess that the majority of people just have bad taste or should we blame corporate propaganda? :)

  • @PullMyFinger21 hell yeah you dam rite
