If you were to judge Metroid Prime or System Shock 2 purely on their merits of being FPS games, they would not be on the top of the list of the best FPS games here. Yes, in both, you have a first person perspective and shoot things, but they are both what I call FPA (first person advanture) games, as there is a whole lot more to those games than the shooting. The same could also be said, albeit to a lesser extent, of the first Bioshock.

Great Video you should also read some of the comments below, many people can give you more titles that you missed and once you get over 100 you could title it EVERY FPS IN HISTORY & really get a major Sub Base going. There is a clear definition of FPS and it says that all games in first person view can be considered a FPS.

@bartholen If these games are not FPS then I could also say that Metroid: Prime (adventure), Brothers in Arms (RPG elements), Deus Ex (RPG elements) and Borderlands (RPG elements) aren't FPS either because they also contain elements of other genres as well.

As long as you play a game in the first person view and as long as you can shoot then it doesn't matter if it has characteristics of other genres or not.

Sorry some things about this video made me mad... Only putting unreal 1 and ut1, no team fortress, or CS. The fact that you didn't put a fps on because you consider it to be an rpg, (fps means first person shooter and fallout 3 is in first person and you shoot so yea...) Only turok 1? theres 5 games but you put all the metroid primes and halos. All in all it had potental but it's lacking in way to many games to be titled as such.
