There's a bit more to it. The song "Begin the beguine" is from the Cole Porter 1935 show "Jubilee", and one of the characters in that show is an obvious parody of Coward.
My Aunt Nina hated this song...........although she knew Noel well back in the 1950's, and he sang it to her once at the Cafe De Paris! She is still with us, though dementia has robbed her of all memories of such meetings. I still thank her for introducing me to the music of Noel though, a great gift.
could you please tell me where to find a torrent with "together with music"? i know most of it was on you tube, but today i'm terribly sad cause i don't find the vids anymore. they've been removed. your video is the only noel coward filmed performance i can find now.
this is awesome, I'd love to find this song in MP3 format, haven't been able to, maybe I haven't been looking in the right places, by far one of the best versions there is of "Nina".
"TOGETHER WITH MUSIC" was a 90 minute special pairing Noel with Mary Martin; it was SO good and well-received, even Jack Benny praised it during his opening monologue at the beginning of his TV show on October 30th. Coward chose Peter Matz as his conductor for the special because he did such a great job accompanying him at the piano during his engagement at Wilbur Clark's Desert Inn in Las Vegas that summer. Unfortunately, no color kinescope of the special exists...
I love this number, its hilarious and really witty, a great party piece (thats if anyone would put up with it)

@NJMerlin Noel Coward and Cole Porter were good friends, and they were used to spoof each other

Does anybody understand the Cole Porter joke? Because I don't.

@rodahcucse She cursed Cole Porter because he wrote "Begin the Beguine," which is the dance everyone keeps asking Nina to do.
