  • is it a heavy guitar[wood]

  • @12dudeguy No, I don't think it's exceptionally heavy. Pretty standard for an alder telecaster really.

  • I love that guitar...just got one...with the money I saved instead of buying a Mexican Made Telecaster....I bought a VOX VT30 AMP....they sound great together.....best deal on a guitar

  • I just got one for my B. Day, I have Strats, but simply love this Telecaster, why would anyone spend more?

  • @MrPoppa2 Happy birthday! :)

  • What effects are you using? ive been searching for the perfect blues tone, and i was wondering if you would mind telling me what Amp and pedals you are using. thanks

  • @skyhawk0005 Hi! In this clip it's just a bit of compression, from a T-rex CompNova pedal. Other than that, straight to amp and some reverb from the amp. The amp is a Blackstar HT-1R with a 2x12 Celestion vintage 30 loaded cab.

  • Damn, I had a huge doubt between this Custom and the 50's. I didn't get the chance to play it before buying (friend brought from USA), so I ended getting the 50's.

Now I really regret buying it, the Custom sounds much more twangy, which is exacly what I was looking for. The 50's is indeed a great guitar, but it sounds a little empty, dunno, I feel like its because of it's body, which is made of pine.

  • @seusfdp What a shame you're not entirely happy with it... It might be the pine, it's a soft wood. I'd imagine ash or even alder to have more of that distinctive sound that telecasters are renowned for, but am not sure. Pine was used for some early telecasters though, I hear...

  • @noakwesterberg Yeah, the softness of the wood is very apparent in the tone, but I've seen a guy saying that he bought one and it was too heavy, so he asked the store to change it for the lightest one they had. He said that the new one, compared to the first, felt pale and lifeless, which seems to be my case. Maybe it was just bad luck.

  • raise the pickups, might help get more of a twangy sound.....

  • Dude! Finally a great demo about this squier axe! Thank you! Very educative, straight talking, perfect. And you play great! MIC Squiers' were always like something to avoid - they say but this particluar model seems really a bargain at the price and a pretty well instrument if not perfect for a backup guitar for gigs. What do you say? Shall I get one of these and postpone the purchase of the bloody expensive Fender vintage 52 tele of my dreams?

  • @BigfootPreston Thanks! I'd get one. Hell, they might even be worth something some day, just like the early MIJ Squiers are today :) Maybe you'll even end up with the conclusion that you don't need a 52' reissue?

  • and white binding...mmmhmm.

  • hey man, nice demo. great playing. thought the new pick ups were nice in that the overall sound is a tad more clear and articulate. just picked up one of these at GC today. i'm quite impressed by the build quality (can't really know about the materials till ten years later...). the frets were perfect more well done than the mim tele's i tried. i may just need one..

  • @RockYouVideos They're pretty hard to put down once you pick one up :) I'd agree with you on the uild quality, I'm very happy with mine and other examples of this model I have tried out usually compares very well, so it's not just a one off thing. Thanks for watching, hope I didn't cause you a hole in your wallet ;)

  • Really nice playing man. I prefer the original stock cause the others sound like a strat.

  • Oh man, that's hard to compare :) The Rivera does Fender-like cleans and hot rodded british style overdrive sounds. The Blackstar I'd say, with the ISF knob does a nice semi dirty warm british sounding thing and can get into more of an American type of hi-gain sound. This is just a 1 watt amp though, hard to compare to a 100 watt :)

  • how would you compare a blackstar to a rivera?? which one do you perfer??

  • @noakwesterberg HAhaHAoAjao! All riiiight, you also speak spanish! :D! Nah, dude, actually the thing is that there's this mexican tv show called "El Chavo del 8" (in english, it'd be like "The kid from #8"), and u're wearing almost the same shirt he did, and with the guitar strap, you looked even more like him.. Google him, just type "El chavo del 8" on the google images searching bar, u'll see for urself!

    HAahAaHhoa!

Forgot to say, you play amazingly, bro, thx for the demo! :)

  • @Complicaadd0rock Un poquito ;) Ah, wasn't familiar with that, gotta look it up. Thanks!

  • great vid, great playing! i like the stock pups more. but how its been said, thats a matter of taste. ;)

  • @50j0urn3r Thank you!

  • The originals have a surprisingly strat-ish tone, whereas the replacements have more of a classic tele tone. Did you find with the lundgren that it had a higher output than the original at all?

  • @metalmader Fair point, the stock bridge has more of a strat twang kind of thing going on then you'd expect from a tele. The Lundgren is 7,3 kOhm which is probably a bit more than the stock one and it holds a bit of more punch, yes.

  • I like the pup swap, though I would probably just go with the entire Twang King setup. DiMarzio makes some nice pups. But I found that the stockers on the CV Strats were suitable for my needs, and I don't know if I could justify the cost for myself. That said, you sound GOOD.

  • Question: Is he mispronouncing Dimarzio or are we?

  • @Maafa1619 Hah, you might be right. I'm not sure how it's supposed to be pronounced :)

  • @Maafa1619 Yes, he is. It is pronounced with a short sounding i not long and the accent is on the first syllable.

Nice guitar work, but I like the originals better.

  • Excellent playing and review young man. Thank you!

Both sets works good, everything else depends of personal taste. The new set sounds better and bolder to me.

  • @unamilosavljevic That is just what I think :) Cheers and thank for watching!

  • they do sound different.

both good in their own way.

the stock pickups sound a bit brighter to me, while the replacements have both a little more bottom end and puch to them. i'd stick with the new ones

  • @guitarplayer0007 True that the stock bridge pickup was brighter, the stock neck one however I found to be muddier. Like I've said before, the difference appeared more prominent in person too...

  • I played the blonde version with the black pick guard in my music store of choice today. This guitar is absolutely amazing for the price! Finally I have something to want for christmas. hehe^^

  • @demidevil666 If you want an extra neck for it, let me know. The CV50s neck was too thin and flat for my taste. So, I have one lying around.

  • Hey, please would you be kind enough to share some of your influences? You have some sweet licks and a great sound!

  • @garystabler Sure thing! As far as country music I'm a big fan of Brad Paisley. He really has great technique, awesome tone and brilliant licks so make sure to check him out if you haven't. Another player I've stolen quite a bit from is Joe Bonamassa. Great blues rock guitar player. I also like Warren Haynes when it comes to blues, and Robben Ford. Hope that can give some guidance!

  • To me the stock pickups sound better and have more tone than the ones you switched.sounds more fendery.

  • @rodbuoy There ya go, each to his own!

  • @jamjmayer Sweet, you won't be sorry!

  • Superb review and nice to see a comparison of different pickups BUT personally I would not change the stocks. The squire 62 reissue Tele (sunburst/rosewood neck) is a cheap but excellently made Tele that has often been said to rival and even beat USA standards. I saw a band called In Fear of Olive last weekend and their guitarist (P.J) blew me away when he said his Tele was this Classic Vibe and it sounded awesome. Paul said it just doesn't need changing in anyway. It's all down to cost

  • @TalkToTheBody It is true that the stocks are not bad. I guess I'm the only one who will notice the difference, but I had the pickups lying around so I thought I'd try it and make this review. It's a good result though, that the stock ones are actually quite good!

  • @noakwesterberg ok, that's a fair enough reason and I agree the stock pickups are incredibly good as a price/performance comparison. More often than not I hear guitarists sticking to the stock pickups as they are that good. Great video you put up though, nice touch thanks.

  • Does anyone know if you can get this as a fender version and not a squire?

  • @ciaranw520 sure for about $700 dollars or more...

  • @ciaranw520 I guess for new ones a Fender American vintage 62 Custom Telecaster would be a good way to go. But if you want the best bang for buck, try finding a Made in Japan 62 reissue from the 80's. They should be really good from what I've heard.

  • My friend you have such a grovey style in the beginning is that all improvations?

  • @fender83085 Wow, thank you so much! Well, yes... pretty much grooving round on some chords. I probably have played most of those licks in some context before but it's still from the top of my head, kind of thing.

  • great PURE straight forward geetarr TONE!!! What amp are you using here?

  • @looneytunes47 Thanks! That's a Blackstar HT1-R through a 2x12 Celestion Vintage 30 cab.

  • how do you get that kind of tone?????????????

  • @ROCKandROLLman1981 No sweat man, all you need is listed in the comment field. And the good news is none of the stuff is really expensive. It's also in the fingers though, try incorporating you long finger and ring finger along with the pick to get more snap out of certain notes. Do a search for "chicken picking" and you will see what I mean!

  • great playing and super tone..i want that squire! the new pickups sound warmer and fuller! the stock were ok...

    congrats from italy

  • @frenzexperiment Thanks!

  • Hey dude! really awesome demo!!

    what mic a u using?

    Nice playing and Tele!

  • @shayaguitar Thank you! It's a Behringer XM8500. Very cheap and poor mic, still sounds OK!

  • Good video! And great playing. I was expecting more differences.

I'm thinking of buying this guitar or the CV50. What do you think? It's to play on stage mainly. Do the tuners keep the guitar in tune after several bends?

  • @MegaBrebis Yep, the stock pickups hold up quite well against after market ones. Get a CV 50 man, I wanna get one too, these things are awesome! And about tuning, I was recording a few songs yesterday, lots of bends and behind the nut bends and crazy stuff. Wouldn't go out of tune for the world. Just a great, affordable instrument. And I'm not talking for Squier/Fender.

  • @noakwesterberg Thanks a lot for the information! I know now I want a CV but I'm hesitating between the VB CV50 and the CVC... I mostly play Indie rock/folk into an AC15C1. What's the most comfy to play? What do you think?

  • @MegaBrebis Hard to decide for you mate, you gotta go with what YOU like best, they both seem like great guitars. I might prefer this one for the neck shape but eventually, it's up to you. Good luck!

  • @noakwesterberg Thanks a lot! I see you're in Sweden. It's been my favorite holiday destination for years! I'm in France. Cheers

  • @MegaBrebis Good to hear, France is really nice to though :) Cheers!

  • Incredible playing- love those country licks!

  • hey did u replace the strings im using the fender 9s it came with

i like the low action it comes with

  • @timrocket2 I use 10-46s on this one.

  • @timrocket2 Try Ernie Ball Hybrid Slinkys.

  • @rockerdude29 ok will do when i next replace them

  • @timrocket2 If you can find them, get the titanium coated slinkys. They stay playable and sound better, longer.

  • Groovy! =o)

  • I would have to say..I give the edge to the stock pickups. Very nice playing and thanks for this great demo.

  • @musicmatty67 Thanks! Yeah, the stock ones are actually quite good too!

  • Man great demo!!!!!

  • @klv400 Thank you!

  • What amp? Pick up is one thing, the amp another thing...;-)

  • @letterli Blackstar HT-1R combo+2x12 Vintage 30. Quite affordable little amps I'd say.

  • very nice demo and playing.

  • @156Arne Thanks!

  • One of the best CV custom video around - and a very nice way to show the difference between stock and upgrade pickups. I personally like both the bridge pickups (stock and upgrade), but the upgrade neck pickup sound definitly better than the stock one. Great playing btw :)

  • @realdocloco Thanks a lot! Yeah, I think this viceo also shows that the stock ones are actually pretty good.
