I didn't follow Smallville to the letter but I did see this episode and from what I gather the Bizarro in this version of Superman (and remember each new writer and developer makes their own version of heroes and villains based on their views and likes) is only the opposite of Clark in that his inentions and personality are th opposite. Clark is good and selfless, Bizarro is evil and corrupted. It's not the 'real' Bizarro, but more like a hommage to him.
my main concern is in the dc universe bizarro has the opposite abilities to superman i.e. he shoots freeze rays out of his eyes and breaths heat out of his mouth so why does he shoot out lazers from his eyes answer me this world???
I wasn't interested in Smallville from watching early episodes, but this fight has me reconsidering. It looks like they took things in the direction I wanted to see in the first place! That was awesome.
Henry Cavill is perfect for Superman right now, but Tom Welling is growing on me. His mannerisms, his voice, very appropriate. When Tom's a little older, he should take the mantle from Cavill. That would be beautiful, the pair of them creating a new legacy and bringing Superman back properly.
@MsCreepyChan That is Bizarro, the Bizarro you are talking about is only the comics. In here, Bizarro is the inverse of Clark. Tv shows don't have to exactly line up like it does in the comics.
@ddd82451 i have 2 points that i am trying to make.
1) that this guy acts just like Cyborg Superman. just give him a half-robotic face and 10 Orange power rings and you've got him right there.
2) why did they make him Bizarro when he neither looks nor acts like Bizarro? Bizarro's face is completely white.
it's like making a Joker who is completely serious, doesn't laugh and doesn't use clown related weapons. you would answer "but they say he is the joker" and i would reply "that's deathstroke"
@MsCreepyChan Because it's cheaper to simply do a mirror image of someone(to make it look like there's two of them) than it is to create the Bizarro character(CGI effects aren't cheap).
@ddd82451 actually, CGI is surprisingly cheap to make. i don't think it would have cost too much more for one of the highest rated shows on air to give one of their characters a white face.

@Strongman1261 Clark can't fly because he hasn't fully accepted his destiny as the man of steel(he flies in part 2 of the finale, when he finally wears the superman suit).
@Bouncer246 Clark can't fly because he doesn't accept his destiny as being Earth's protector(self doubt). Which is bad because in order for a kryptonian to be able to fly, they must mentally learn it.
It's already bullshit that he was even impaled...Smallville fucks up on so many aspects. Bizzaro getting impaled on a pipe is like me getting cut by styrofoam. -__-
@JaKJaKington In Smallville, Bizzaro had a weakness against yellow sunlight, so it may have depowered him just enough so that his flesh can be pierced by steel.
@TheHmongGamer The thing I found interesting is, if you recall when Clark died (or was near death), John flew him to the sun, which revived him. Being a reverse of Clark, it makes sense that the sun weakens Bizarro, ya know?
@DJLCProductions originally what happened is the sun had no effect on bizarro, it didn't make him stronger or weaker, you needed to use blue kryptonite on him to weaken him.
@M1MOK1K1N Noone, they give him blue kryptonite(which empowers Bizarro)and Bizarro dies(giving Bizarro blue kryptonite is like trying to power a light bulb with a nuclear reactor, Bizarro just explodes).
The only thing I don't like about Superman fights is that you see more of what he can take than how strong he is. He gets beat down, THEN he's beast, but come on.
normally, I think they're just equal but opposite, but where green kryptonite weakens superman it strengthens bizarro, I also might be wrong on this.., there are some other cool inverse kryptonite effects as well.
@TheReverend29 If I was kryptonian, I would initiate a one day war in which I would use my powers to destroy all magic and kryptonite on earth. Then I would use my superhuman intelligence to create a utopia on Earth, where no such thing as crime or poverty existed and all are welcome.
HOLLY SHIT! Now this is a fucking fight!. And it puts his fight with doomsday, which should of been the most epic, destructive, and most amazing fight in the series, to complete utter shame. Srry, this just fucking blew my mind. Dam budgetcuts!
I know right !? I mean this is easily best live-action Superman fight we ever got... I enjoyed Superman returns a lot... but seriously... after this 1 has to wonder.
If they can do THIS in a TV series 3.5 mil budget... WTF did they do with the 180 mil for the movie?
Sigh... the Doomsday thing was an utter dissappointment... and sad to say... so was the Zombie-Lionel-Seid vs. fight in 'Finale'
They shud've used the money on THAT fight instead of posessed Ollie vs. Clark.
smallville is the best superman series will never be another series like superman tom welling this magnificent series is unique on the planet is the best actor I hope to become as good an actor as SMALLVILLE 4EVER !!!!!!! :D
the problem with this bizzaro is that he says what he means. the real bizzaro would say like "i hate you" which would mean "i love you". this one speaks totally normal
This 1 is technically Zibarro... the messed up version of ... Bizarro (yeah yeah... don't even try) who can talk... gets power from K and is evil ofcourse.
If I am not mistaken, a dam is expensive yes? As is one of those electric wire towers. And the heat required to turn all that water to steam would have set the forest on fire and fried those people. Hate to nit pic like that. I just cant help myself.
@Blasted2Oblivion Nit pic away. I happen to agree with you. It would have been more innovative to freeze the water with his ice breath. We've seen the "heat vision" thing too much already.
errr... uhm... It was focused on the centre... -points- see... uhmmm... that's kind of why the others didn't catch fire... it was like... steam water... yeah... he did a very quick burst of heat within a sec... made the water evaporate... so tada... no effect on the rest.
@Blasted2Oblivion No it wouldn't he aimed it right into the water... maybe if he full blasted it from way up high but it isn't like he turned it up to max and burned it all remember he was also moving at like 52347234 miles an hour. So technically he had a lot of time to turn it into steam.
@apollonas101 I don't know... I like Welling... but his voice is just NOT Superman... n he's decent enough actor to do Clark / Superman in a TV show... but naaa... won't trust him with a big screen movie.
@Bapman2099 his appearance is very '' man of tommorw'' and '' Superman forever..which is cannon look for Superman''....and i guess if he wasn't that convincing in either way the show would never have survived 10 years...never...which stands to reason, because Smallville and the explaination of the character its self was indeed voted the greatest incarnation of the Superman franchise'' so although Welling isn't everyones cup of tea i suppose its what the majority say or think that goes''
The show barely survived 10 years... and uhm... I actually wanna know WHERE he was voted the best Superman incarnation... he had the longest running Superman role... but that's very different from being the 'best' and also... not really majority... considering how much viewership the show lost... which also means a LOT of people didn't like it.
By the end of the last 3 seasons... it was only followed up hardcore fans... again... not the majority.
@Bapman2099 that dose'nt make sense in its self of what you just said, it either makes a 10th season or dosen't..due to ratings, of which you clearly know very little!..,, and the pilot episode broke the record for highest-rated debut for The WB, with 8.4 million viewers. Over ten seasons, it averaged approximately 4.34 million viewers per episode, with season two to ten averaging the highest ratings, at 6.3 million.
Me not knowing about ratings... yeah... I'll let the rant go completely considering the joke of where I work.
Now moving on... my point was... the show dropped in ratings as it went by.
Check the ratings of individual seasons... and you'll understand what I mean... it started with 8.4 mil viewers... it grew... then started declining after
season 3... and by season 10 they had an average of 3 mil viewers. Mid of season 7 they had their drastic budget cut.
Welling would have been a much better choice than Routh. You have to realize that he's playing Clark coming of age, not Superman. If he was picked for a movie I feel he could handle it better than most others.
And I don't think that Welling’s performance is what drove people from the show. I stopped watching after about halfway through season six because the writers seemed like they were trying to milk it.
@bigcody79 but when Clark went to work at the daily planet it then crossed the threshold from Clark's story to Superman......once he left Smallville high in season 5 - 6 his story became his assention to Superman
@apollonas101 yea but he did not fully become superman until the show ended. after he left it was his assention to BECOME superman. if that makes any sense
@bigcody79 its not what he wears or dosem't in the comic universe in which all Superman projects are based,..''when he starts working in metropolis'' that cross over at what ever point Clark's life is at ..it then becomes Superman..so weather it was subconscious decision, thats what happened in Smallville!!
@apollonas101 He already did the role "justice" for ten years. He wasn't really cut out to be Superman. He didn't want to wear the suit, he didn't read the comics for influence (like Henry Cavill is) he even turned down the role several times before hearing it would be about Clark Kent and not Superman.
@Bloggerboy1000 What the hell you talking about!!! if he did the role justice for 10 years, it would then stand to reason that he is clearly the best choice...i.e....thats why returns flopped, because as Chris Reeves said r.i.p, it's not how you fly but its who they wanna see fly, and indeed making the audience believe that man can fly, Tom Welling when asked said he would play the part, henry cavill is good, but im sorry this movie will be even bigger pile of shit than the last
@apollonas101 Notice how I used "" marks around justice. As I understood it Returns wasn't a flop, in the end it made a profit, it just wasn't the same kind of a money maker everyone thought it would be. Much like Smallville, Returns suffered from a terrible script. Routh did well with what he was given imo.
TW was horrified of the notion of putting on the costume. He'd do a movie for the money and suck at it. Cavill will do fine, it's Snyder (300) I'm worried about.
@Bloggerboy1000 but returns certainly didn't make the profit they aimed to make or impression, hence DC axing the project and wanting to start new with a new actor,..all in all what ever in made to the fans it was flopp!! or voted as such anyway' although Smallville did suffer a number of seasons, it still remains the greatest representation of Superman to date, being 10 years running and picking up numerous awards, Tom Welling would be the best Superman since reeves,
@apollonas101 It's WB that didn't want to carry on but I get what you're saying. Aside from Teen Choice awards or technical awards I don't Smallville is regarded so highly. Lois & Clark made a bigger impression in it's time.
Tom Welling made a great Clark Kent but the show fought against Superman, thus he can't be concidered as one. Dean Cain was a great TV-Superman just because of the writing. TW might have been good but the writing kept him down. Imo he's like Suberboy Prime.
@Bloggerboy1000 lool lois and Clark..lool, Smallville is the biggest and most successful comic based seriel ''EVER'' on record....lol im not sure where you got that about lois and Clark??? dean cain was the worst if not pathtic Superman ever...wrong build...wrong eye colour..wrong everything..pathetic!!! Chris Reeves said Tom Welling would be perfect successor!!!
@apollonas101 Wrong build, eye color? To you maybe. At least Dean Cain's character wasn't a wuss like TW's Clark. Dean also got to play both Superman and Clark Kent. Dean was a cheerful Superman where Tom's Clark was a pathetic whiner at times. I blame the writers though but it makes no difference in the end.
I'd say both series were equally corny though but I overall I think Smallville was more disrespectful to the Superman mythos with episodes like "Fortune" with drunk Clark.
@Bloggerboy1000 dean cain was Pathetic as Superman...kept crossing his arms to push out his triceps..lool, and from early detective comics, to man of steel- man of tomorrow and precrisis Superman...he never ever had dark eyes, they've always been blue, im a connoisseur of Superman and ill tell you what any die hard Superman fan will'' Tom Welling weather you like him or not was the closest incarnation to the man of tomorrow Superman together with Chris Reeves,
@apollonas101 I tend to look at how the character is presented as well as the acting and looks. Lookwise Tom might be one of the closest to resemble my idea of what Supes should look like (although I prefer Reeves and now Cavill)...but acting wise TW's just okay.
How Clark's character was written on SV makes him the worst version. He's too unsure and selfish a lot of the times. He needs constant hand holding from Lana, Chloe Lois etc. to a point where it's disrespectful.
@Bloggerboy1000 i tend to familierate the character with the way the character is within the comic, to movie goers this isn't very important, but to die hard Superman fan's such as my sef it is very much so, with the emotion expressed and especially the difficulty in accepting both human and kryptonian natures,...when they address these issues aswell as many more i know they've the franchise best interests at heart, and Smallville did this, in many ways,
@apollonas101 I hope the characters in the new movie have depth to them. Looking at the director's previous work it could end up being a dumb action movie with little thought or character motivation behind it.
I'm glad we're getting something new and not a repeat of the Donnerverse again though no matter what.
@Bloggerboy1000 i too hope that, however with reaity being the way it is, i fear they'll miss the Superman concept altogether and just have action pact Super-hero movie..of which id be soo diapointed,..
I agree 100%. You raise good points; TW was good but I don't consider him iconic. Then again, he had to work with a bad script that practically mauled the Superman mythos and let itself get caught up in teen-agnst filled romance. Then again, it's hard to compare with someone like Christopher Reeves.
"Superman Returns" didn't flop because of Brandon Routh's protrayal, it flopped because of a bad script similar to how Smallville fizzled out towards later seasons b/c of weak writing. Brand Routh and TW are equally talented in terms of the portrayal of Superman/Clark Kent and both suffered from terrible script and plot ideas--TW more. Though I do agree that Synder's reboot doesn't leave much to be excited about; Henry Cavill doesn't really strike me as Superman/Clark Kent
@SynpaticInc .yeah it did!!!..cpmpared to that of Superman l - ll it did big time, thats one of the reasons the sequel was scrapped and rouths contract wasn't renewed for a sequel!! i picture a sUperman movie by synder to be action packed''...and farr farr from Superman, and i agree about henry cavill
Routh was scraped b/c the movie execs wanted a reboot; you can't exactly have a reboot with the same guy as superman...just like how the spiderman reboot has a new actor playing spiderman. That's the entire point of a reboot; out with the old and in with the new. Routh did a fantastic job with what he had to work with; if he'd been given more chances, he really would have developed into a fine and iconic superman.
@SynpaticInc wow your the first guy ive heard that's said routh did good job, i guess we're all entitled to our opinion, i thought he was the worst actor to portry the actor after cain, as Chris Reeves said its with the actor in making audience believe a man can fly, plus it underwhelmed at the box office, earning $391 million worldwide, it failed to capture the audience imagination together with routh, hence the reboot
Well considering my own opinion, the reviews/critiques and some die-hard superman fans I've spoken to, the general consensus seems to be that the script blowed. Routh did what he could with Synder's angst-fest but ultimately couldn't carry the movie seeing as it was his debut role. You're the first guy I've ever met that insists on heaping all of the Reboot blame on a relatively unknown actor when the good majority of it goes on the director, script writer and execs.
oh my god is the sun gives super man more juice at the end that was amazing

@Bouncer246 Clark can't fly because he doesn't accept his destiny as being Earth's protector(self doubt). Which is bad because in order for a kryptonian to be able to fly, they must mentally learn it.

JaKJaKington 2 months ago 21
@JaKJaKington In Smallville, Bizzaro had a weakness against yellow sunlight, so it may have depowered him just enough so that his flesh can be pierced by steel.
TheHmongGamer 1 month ago
@TheHmongGamer The thing I found interesting is, if you recall when Clark died (or was near death), John flew him to the sun, which revived him. Being a reverse of Clark, it makes sense that the sun weakens Bizarro, ya know?
DJLCProductions 1 month ago
@DJLCProductions originally what happened is the sun had no effect on bizarro, it didn't make him stronger or weaker, you needed to use blue kryptonite on him to weaken him.

Clark.

If I am not mistaken, a dam is expensive yes? As is one of those electric wire towers. And the heat required to turn all that water to steam would have set the forest on fire and fried those people. Hate to nit pic like that. I just cant help myself.
Blasted2Oblivion 3 months ago
@Blasted2Oblivion Nit pic away. I happen to agree with you. It would have been more innovative to freeze the water with his ice breath. We've seen the "heat vision" thing too much already.
jodmackster 3 months ago
@Blasted2Oblivion
errr... uhm... It was focused on the centre... -points- see... uhmmm... that's kind of why the others didn't catch fire... it was like... steam water... yeah... he did a very quick burst of heat within a sec... made the water evaporate... so tada... no effect on the rest.
Bapman2099 3 months ago
@Blasted2Oblivion yeah i thought he wouldve froze the water instead..
yannigk 2 months ago
@Blasted2Oblivion No it wouldn't he aimed it right into the water... maybe if he full blasted it from way up high but it isn't like he turned it up to max and burned it all remember he was also moving at like 52347234 miles an hour. So technically he had a lot of time to turn it into steam.

apollonas101 4 months ago 6
@apollonas101 I don't know... I like Welling... but his voice is just NOT Superman... n he's decent enough actor to do Clark / Superman in a TV show... but naaa... won't trust him with a big screen movie.
Bapman2099 4 months ago
@Bapman2099 his appearance is very '' man of tommorw'' and '' Superman forever..which is cannon look for Superman''....and i guess if he wasn't that convincing in either way the show would never have survived 10 years...never...which stands to reason, because Smallville and the explaination of the character its self was indeed voted the greatest incarnation of the Superman franchise'' so although Welling isn't everyones cup of tea i suppose its what the majority say or think that goes''
apollonas101 4 months ago
@apollonas101
Bapman2099 4 months ago
@Bapman2099 that dose'nt make sense in its self of what you just said, it either makes a 10th season or dosen't..due to ratings, of which you clearly know very little!..,, and the pilot episode broke the record for highest-rated debut for The WB, with 8.4 million viewers. Over ten seasons, it averaged approximately 4.34 million viewers per episode, with season two to ten averaging the highest ratings, at 6.3 million.
apollonas101 4 months ago
@apollonas101
Bapman2099 3 months ago
@Bapman2099
GeorgeWilsonJackson 3 months ago
@apollonas101 Tom said he did not want to play superman. his role is clark and who clark was before superman
bigcody79 3 months ago
@bigcody79 but when Clark went to work at the daily planet it then crossed the threshold from Clark's story to Superman......once he left Smallville high in season 5 - 6 his story became his assention to Superman
apollonas101 3 months ago
@apollonas101 yea but he did not fully become superman until the show ended. after he left it was his assention to BECOME superman. if that makes any sense
bigcody79 3 months ago
@bigcody79 its not what he wears or dosem't in the comic universe in which all Superman projects are based,..''when he starts working in metropolis'' that cross over at what ever point Clark's life is at ..it then becomes Superman..so weather it was subconscious decision, thats what happened in Smallville!!
apollonas101 3 months ago
@apollonas101 He already did the role "justice" for ten years. He wasn't really cut out to be Superman. He didn't want to wear the suit, he didn't read the comics for influence (like Henry Cavill is) he even turned down the role several times before hearing it would be about Clark Kent and not Superman.
Bloggerboy1000 3 months ago
@Bloggerboy1000 What the hell you talking about!!! if he did the role justice for 10 years, it would then stand to reason that he is clearly the best choice...i.e....thats why returns flopped, because as Chris Reeves said r.i.p, it's not how you fly but its who they wanna see fly, and indeed making the audience believe that man can fly, Tom Welling when asked said he would play the part, henry cavill is good, but im sorry this movie will be even bigger pile of shit than the last
apollonas101 3 months ago
@apollonas101 Notice how I used "" marks around justice. As I understood it Returns wasn't a flop, in the end it made a profit, it just wasn't the same kind of a money maker everyone thought it would be. Much like Smallville, Returns suffered from a terrible script. Routh did well with what he was given imo.
TW was horrified of the notion of putting on the costume. He'd do a movie for the money and suck at it. Cavill will do fine, it's Snyder (300) I'm worried about.
Bloggerboy1000 2 months ago
@Bloggerboy1000 but returns certainly didn't make the profit they aimed to make or impression, hence DC axing the project and wanting to start new with a new actor,..all in all what ever in made to the fans it was flopp!! or voted as such anyway' although Smallville did suffer a number of seasons, it still remains the greatest representation of Superman to date, being 10 years running and picking up numerous awards, Tom Welling would be the best Superman since reeves,
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101 It's WB that didn't want to carry on but I get what you're saying. Aside from Teen Choice awards or technical awards I don't Smallville is regarded so highly. Lois & Clark made a bigger impression in it's time.
Tom Welling made a great Clark Kent but the show fought against Superman, thus he can't be concidered as one. Dean Cain was a great TV-Superman just because of the writing. TW might have been good but the writing kept him down. Imo he's like Suberboy Prime.
Bloggerboy1000 2 months ago
@Bloggerboy1000 lool lois and Clark..lool, Smallville is the biggest and most successful comic based seriel ''EVER'' on record....lol im not sure where you got that about lois and Clark??? dean cain was the worst if not pathtic Superman ever...wrong build...wrong eye colour..wrong everything..pathetic!!! Chris Reeves said Tom Welling would be perfect successor!!!
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101 Wrong build, eye color? To you maybe. At least Dean Cain's character wasn't a wuss like TW's Clark. Dean also got to play both Superman and Clark Kent. Dean was a cheerful Superman where Tom's Clark was a pathetic whiner at times. I blame the writers though but it makes no difference in the end.
I'd say both series were equally corny though but I overall I think Smallville was more disrespectful to the Superman mythos with episodes like "Fortune" with drunk Clark.
Bloggerboy1000 2 months ago
@Bloggerboy1000 dean cain was Pathetic as Superman...kept crossing his arms to push out his triceps..lool, and from early detective comics, to man of steel- man of tomorrow and precrisis Superman...he never ever had dark eyes, they've always been blue, im a connoisseur of Superman and ill tell you what any die hard Superman fan will'' Tom Welling weather you like him or not was the closest incarnation to the man of tomorrow Superman together with Chris Reeves,
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101 I tend to look at how the character is presented as well as the acting and looks. Lookwise Tom might be one of the closest to resemble my idea of what Supes should look like (although I prefer Reeves and now Cavill)...but acting wise TW's just okay.
How Clark's character was written on SV makes him the worst version. He's too unsure and selfish a lot of the times. He needs constant hand holding from Lana, Chloe Lois etc. to a point where it's disrespectful.
Bloggerboy1000 2 months ago
@Bloggerboy1000 i tend to familierate the character with the way the character is within the comic, to movie goers this isn't very important, but to die hard Superman fan's such as my sef it is very much so, with the emotion expressed and especially the difficulty in accepting both human and kryptonian natures,...when they address these issues aswell as many more i know they've the franchise best interests at heart, and Smallville did this, in many ways,
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101 I hope the characters in the new movie have depth to them. Looking at the director's previous work it could end up being a dumb action movie with little thought or character motivation behind it.
I'm glad we're getting something new and not a repeat of the Donnerverse again though no matter what.
Bloggerboy1000 2 months ago
@Bloggerboy1000 i too hope that, however with reaity being the way it is, i fear they'll miss the Superman concept altogether and just have action pact Super-hero movie..of which id be soo diapointed,..
apollonas101 2 months ago
@Bloggerboy1000
I agree 100%. You raise good points; TW was good but I don't consider him iconic. Then again, he had to work with a bad script that practically mauled the Superman mythos and let itself get caught up in teen-agnst filled romance. Then again, it's hard to compare with someone like Christopher Reeves.
SynpaticInc 2 months ago
@apollonas101
SynpaticInc 2 months ago
@SynpaticInc .yeah it did!!!..cpmpared to that of Superman l - ll it did big time, thats one of the reasons the sequel was scrapped and rouths contract wasn't renewed for a sequel!! i picture a sUperman movie by synder to be action packed''...and farr farr from Superman, and i agree about henry cavill
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101
SynpaticInc 2 months ago
@SynpaticInc wow your the first guy ive heard that's said routh did good job, i guess we're all entitled to our opinion, i thought he was the worst actor to portry the actor after cain, as Chris Reeves said its with the actor in making audience believe a man can fly, plus it underwhelmed at the box office, earning $391 million worldwide, it failed to capture the audience imagination together with routh, hence the reboot
apollonas101 2 months ago
@apollonas101
