I have a GT240 1GB DDR3 version...I wish I could use the volumetric smoke and wet surfaces with the DX10 lighting and God Rays. I surpass everything else to be able to play this in all its glory but the video card :/ I am using a AMD PII X4 955BE and 6GB (XMS) DDR31600 on a MSI 785GM MB. This game still can't be matched for atmospheric game-play and game-play mixed with RPG elements. This is truly a unique game and can't be compared to anything out there to date.

WTF?, this game is awesome cos of the difficulty of it all mixed with the scary/horror atmosphere of a GREAT story line. You won't find games like Stalker series anywhere. Best close thing would be Half-life 1&2.

It won't work properly. Perhaps unplayable in mass action scenes. But for most it won't work on high graphics, never ever.

@DanielTejnicky I never liked the mods, for one, they ruin the graphic atmosphere( everything bright is brighter, everything dark is darker, whoa, what an improvement...)

The mods reduce difficulty by removing accuracy from weapons, because ppl cried over not getting headshots with crappy AK's and handguns. Well, I prefer my crappy AK missing as intended and jamming as it's durability is low.

Mods ruin the first gameplay, but some can be fun for a replay, definetly do not play with mods first.

As ambiance and feeling due to the dynamic world this game is somewhere on top 6 fps ever made, u feel like in the zone, with a a dynamic world from monsters to stalkers, day/night animation, weather everything is amazing in this game. I cant say CodMW2 whasnt a fun game, but overall stlaker gives u another feeling. So did Crysis in his way, i think the best games have something special about and its not about comparing them, Stalker is one of those games unique and beautiful.

Have anyone experienced the "Wet Surfaces" dx10 feature? My graphic card supports dx10 features even thoguh i have dx9 but i could only enable the "God Rays" dx10 feature because the "wet surfaces" was in grey and could not be enabled. And i havent seen a single person showing it off ingame either. Is a dx10 card really required for S.T.A.L.K.E.R's "Wet Surfaces"?

no if its dx9 it doesnt support dx10 features. I can enable the god rays too, in fact they're a dx9 feature aswell. You need a dx10 card to enable the wet surfaces as well as Windows Vista or 7. XP doesnt support dx10

It was the patch that fckd it up. I downgraded to 1.5.05 and it works flawlessly. It even has better frame rate than in dx9 mod. ati ftw :D
