What sensors did you use (that are show in the video, were they proximity sensors?). Also, how would you wire the sensors to the calculator and would it be possible to wire and keep score of other hit targets (such as a stand up targets and pop bumpers) using this method? I really want to build a pinball machine and this method of scoring is so much easier than programming and suich.
i have used a similar technology for the speakers coil turns because i use to recoil broken speaker s ....love this girl ... need a wife like her ....where i can find one ?
Holy shit, this is so simple yet so genius. I might have to steal this idea if I ever do a custom pinball.. I can totally handle hacking a calculator and bypassing the buttons.
Ha ha I did that exact idea when I made my Tesla coil, I made a motor winding machine and wired up the calculator with a reed switch and magnet and then replaced the 1+1 buttons and the reed was the =. It worked well up to around 700 odd turns until the coil interfered with the calculator and made weird numbers appear! It must have been picking up some weird signal?
For the love of pinball!! I love this hack. I'm a little infatuated with microcontroller free electronics hacking, so this little setup is being tucked away into the deep crevasses of my brain, for future use. I like the idea of it controlling lights and trapdoors in the floor lol. Haunted pinball.
Most kids in 8th and 9th grade would rather smoke pot and wear their jeans down around their knees.

does the ball complete a circuit when it rolls over? I'm still confused, I am currently trying to this with one of my calculators

@Skyman2596 The conductive ball rolled over two evenly spaced strips of metal and made contact.

Wow, that was great. My wife comes up with stuff like that all the time, but this is just awsome!

I love the way you think! What wires and sensors did you use and how did you attach the wires from the sensors to the calculator?

What kind of wires did you use?
And is that copper foil?
Thanks.

Actually I built a machine when I was 14 that had this type of scoring. I quickly showed how it worked for the show on a piece of fiber board.
