  • Unfortuantely for me, I can't pastr anything new into the GIMP folders..i'm on a mac...can ya help me please?

  • I tried this and it worked and I was quite happy. Then Gimp messed up so I restarted my mac and now none of the files will show up and I cant re-install them for some reason... Any help is well needed.

  • I have issues getting the script onto my desktop to put into my script folder. When I download it. It downloads onto like my internet page. When I try to click it says it can not be opened with safari. Anyway to change that? Btw I just bought a Mac. First time user.

  • thank u sooooooooo

    ooo muchhhhhhhhhhhhhhh

  • Dude.... I love you!!!

  • (countinuing from other comment) ...save it as a .gbr but like i said it will probably work with .abr file, then reopen gimp and look in your brushes

    hope this helped :)

  • YES!!! After playing around a little bit i finally got it!!

ok for others if you havent tried it try this save your brushes and keep them in the zip folder but save them some where else. now right click and click "extract all" then save here---> C:\Program Files (x86)\Gimp-2.0\share\gimp\2.0 if your computer is the same as mine (windows) it should be there it will save them as a .abr file that should be the right type if not (ill post a second comment because im running out of space)

  • My ZIP file wont open!!! :O

  • You can also place the script files into the application support folder for gimp. In there is a folder called scripts. Just copy and paste the script files into there.

  • Jeeze this place is full of really frustrated youtubers! lol

  • Uh, it says it can't cause "Brushes" cant be modified!!!

  • when I click on my gimp icon it doesn't have a "show contents" or wtv :(..

  • tyvm :D

  • I don't get it O_o

  • chinga tu madre

  • ok for people who still need help! this is what i did...

    1) DONT ADD THE BRUSH AS A ZIP FILE!!!

    2) when you've downloaded your desired brush...copy the file

    3) paste it under 'Brushes'

    4) for some ppl...you'll get a pop up that says "must be approved by administrater" blah blah!! just click the option that allows you to get it approved..

    5) wait for it to finish loading

    6) open Gimp 2.0

    7) use your brushes!^^

  • i wanted to make that graffiti wall like you so i just wanna know if anyone can answer this question...

Q: i know how to download the files and save them into the folders on gimp now, but is the same necessary for text files?

like that writer's original, do i need to install that?

  • still doesnt work....

  • i have the same background as you for my mac

  • thanks man!

  • In LInux, to install for a single user, you can usually find the gimp stuff in your home folder:

    ~/.gimp-2.6/

To install them system-wide, you'll need to find them first.

Open a console, su to root, and:

    find /usr -name \*.pat -print

This should spit out a list of gimp patterns and show you the folder - on my system it's /usr/share/gimp/2.0/

Once you've found the gimp folder, just copy your brushes, patters, etc into the correct subfolder.

  • Thank you so much! I did it once before on 200+ brushes, but I forgot coz I haven't needed any more brushes for ages.

Thanks for giving me my memory back! Haha this is very good. Your voice is very clear. Thanks again!
