Ella is where its at! I love how she swings through this rendition. And Sir Duke's big band are swingin' just as hard. Its brilliant. Like Bing Crosby said, "Man, woman or child, Ella is the greatest of them all." She sure is!
No one sings this Bacharach composition like the late great Ella! Hey have you ever heard Ella sing Cream's "Sunshine of your love". It was available for a while on CD! It's smashing:) Ty for the post:)
I was way too yomg to be relevant to this song in its hay day...but when I hear this version by Ella from 1966, I can imagine what a 'hot' married life mustve been like in that era for people older than the hippies at the time, who get all the attention when the 60s comes up.
Thanks for the info. Yes I've noticed that video and also "How High the Moon". Great vids but audio is poor quality and out of sync. The audio I uploaded is 384 kbps so quality is quite good I believe.
This is part of her 65-68 tour with Ellington, Jimmy Jones etc. Most of that CD comes from a TV Special in Sweden. In fact the video of "Imagine My Frustration" is on Youtube already.
Not totally sure this arrangement is by Duke Ellington, seems to be that by Marty Paich rather.
