The other day I watched the original doc. again and wow the job that Drew B. and Jessica Lange did was really some amazing work! I HIGHLY reccomend films!!
@scudder99 - The original is fantastic! I agree:-) But the movie added insight into the past that couldn't be (or wasn't) provided in the original documentary.
@scudder99 People are entitled to their own opinion but it was not just mimicry. If you watched the entire performance it had all the things you would want in a performance. depth, shading. The young Edie is played with depth and bathos. That bit above is fantastic because Edie is acting a bit and Drew captured that as well. I am not a big drew fan but she was astonishing in this and UI hope she does more.

Damn, Damn, DAMNIT! Why doesn't Drew Barrymore push herself more. We all knew she could amaze us, but all those awful "Am I gonna get a boyfriend?" movies were looking bad at her age.
Drew Barrymore did that shit! It's clear the thespian blood of her family flows through her veins.

This is hands down, the greatest performance of Drew Barrymore's career. It should've earned her an Oscar if it wasn't a made for HBO movie.
