10.Red Sun 9. Outlaw Josey Wales 8. Rio Bravo 7. Ride the High Country 6. The Lone Ranger (1956...don't laugh; its a masterful and exciting flick!) 5. The Magnificent Seven 4. Lawman (Burt Lancaster Robert Duvall, Robert Ryan, Albert Salmi) 3. Westward the Women...the most underrated western of all time! 2. Rooster Cogburn and the Lady 1. True Grit
No spaghetti western should get anywhere near a top one hundred list, Clint did the genre, and western fans a big favor when he started producing his own westerns, the best of which is (The Outlaw Josey Wales), and belongs in the top ten. Burt Lancasters, (Lawman) and (Ulzanas Raid) they belong in the top ten, (Shane) certainly belongs there, also (Rio Bravo), (The Searchers), Charlton Hestons (Major Dundee) and Curt Russel in (Tombstone) also (The Magnificent Seven), and (The Wild Bunch).
@barrygioportmorien1 you have no clue.period. lol, the spagetti westerns were the best . Again..PERIOD! you dumb shit...lol. HERE is a real top ten list....and remember the 2 best directors were Leone and Peckinpaw.. so the list will reflect this....my list is not in order . 1) the good the bad and the ugly 2) once upon a time in the west 3) outlaw josey wales 4) ballad of cable hogue 5) true grit (2010) 6) pat garret and billy the kid 7) fistful of $ 8) for a few $ more 9) my name is nobody
Sergio Leone was the worst director of westerns, he used every cliche that was ever used in the old B-Westerns of long ago. His westerns were like parodies of westerns. He is like a joke that isn't funny, in my humble opinion. The only thing he had going for him was Clint Eastwood, and Clint got out, and showed him how to make a real western.
@barrygioportmorien1 stop proving your ignorance...everyone worth their salt knows the 2 best westerns ever made are the GBU and once upon a time in the west...please....you bore me....your only attribute is your ability to correct my grammer and spelling...as far as ur opinion on movies go....it sucks....u best go buy the movies i mentioned and educate yourself a little ..lol the audio not matchin up ? too funny u mental midget !
@barrygioportmorien1 visit IMDB and look up josey wales ...its rating is no where near the Leone movies....you just make shit up as you go......i kinda like that in a strange way.....only problem is its impossible to win an arguement with a moron....fortunately for you....ignorance is bliss. So you will remain unaffected while i will only grow annoyed if i continue to try to educate you ...anyways good day to you ...sir...
Then you obviously don't win any arguments with yourself, and will remain blissful, Movies and Music are subjective we all don't like the same thing, that's why there are white cars and black cars, but your ignorance shows through when you start calling names at people who don't agree with you. Don't print lists if you can't tolerate another's opinion.
@barrygioportmorien1 and # 10) the wild bunch......honorable mention....unforgiven. ps. if you havent seen any of these movies i suggest you do, trust me...i know what im talkin about ! and also, the film pat garret and billy the kid is the most accurate film ever made (10 fold) about the story of the life of billy the kid...so in the end i named 5 Leone films/ 3 Peckinpaw films / 1 coen brother film (remake of john wayne classic) and 1 clint eastwood film...old westerns were just to korny!
The James Stewart-Anthony Mann westerns are outstanding and the Randolph Scott westerns made by Budd Boetticher. Better than many of those in the video.
I never cared for Western untill last year. A friend got me to watch so middle of the road westerns and I enjoy them more than the highly rated John Ford/ John Wyne one like the Searcher. I never understood the love of the Italian westerns. . I enjoy the Magnificent Seven, 3:10 to Yuma(The Original) and Last Train to Boot hill. Other good one I found include Yellow Skies with Gerogy Peck, The Badlanders with Borgnine, and Terror in a Texas Town, which has a gun fight that ends with a Harpoon.
Anytime someone makes a list of any kind, there will always be sins of omission; someone's favorite was not mentioned.. I've always loved Westerns, just because they're Westerns..
This list is a joke. Evidently, someone has only seen 10 westerns. The only Gary Cooper movie that should be in the list is High Noon. Where are Butch Cassidy & the Sundance Kid, High Plains Drifter & Pale Rider, Clint's 2 best westerns? The Searchers is one of the worst westerns ever filmed. It was considered one of the 2 most anti-Native American films ever made. Go back to the video store and watch some real westerns.
The searchers was too racist oriented for me. Not that John ford is a racist but it depicts racism that makes it hard to enjoy. The Ward Bond line "living with the Comanche is not living" and John Wayne's character's belief that once a white woman is with an Indian(sexually) she is some how ruined forever.
I am sure that everyone can come up with a great list. But how Johnny Guitar gets on a list of any kind , unless it is worst movies of all time is anybody's guess. Here is my list: 1. Little Big Man 2. No Name On The Bullet 3. Unforgiven 4. The Big Country 5. Soldier Blue 6. The Gunfighter 7. The Magnificent Seven 8. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid 9. Red River 10. The Ox Bow Incident
1. The Good, The Bad, The Ugly, 2. The Wild Bunch, 3. Once Upon a Time In The West, 4, For a few Dollars More, 5. A Fistfull Of Dollars. Maybe High Noon and The Professionals. Everything else is just crap
pretty good list.."SHANE" and "THE SEARCHERS" can switch around from 1 to 2..both great westerns...i agree with some ..not with McCABE & MRS. MILLER ..a few final questions: where is CLINT EASTWOOD'S "THE UNFORGIVEN"? where is HENRY FONDA'S "THE OX-BOW INCIDENT"? where is JOHN FORD'S "STAGECOACH"?..after that pretty good list..
Is this Video a Joke ? John Wayne on place 1 ?????
btw this video includs only 2 real Western , the rest is noob Us cheep western stuff !
Sorry for my hard words , but i love western movies sice about 30 Years and the most of this movies are not in my Top 50 !!
Josey Wales is a nice Western and The good , the Bad and the ugly are forer sure one of the best 3 Westerns ever BUT.....Buit where are Ones upon a Time in the West ?????? or the other 20 Legendary Movies liek this ?
@floridafyme outdated and korny....lol, the searchers sucks...period.....i can think of 10 obscure old spagetti westerns that are better....and im not talkin the big ones.....stick ur john wayne up ur azz....people are so stuck in there ways....when u think westerns u better think eastwood,, wallach, cleef, hill, spencer, borgnine, holden, robards, bronson, peckinpaw, leone, kristopherson, rg armstrong, slim pickins, fonda, lq jones etc fuck wayne and cooper to outdated and korny, period
The proper spelling is corny. Anybody that uses LOL is Corny, I don't think you would know a real western, you're all hat and no cattle. You probably enjoy watching the mouths move to the dialogue that doesn't match, in those awful, stupid, spaghetti westerns.
"Johnny Guitar" doesn't make a top 200 list, any of the Hoppy oaters beats that one. "McCabe and Mrs Miller," another loser. Who came up with this list??
put in the 1939 classic "stagecoach" with young john wayne in place of your number 4 with warren beatty. while your at it... how did you miss "High noon" with cooper? the teacher wants to see you after class.
Lists are great fun and there's always something that can be argued on or off any top ten. Concerning this list and quite many discussions about "the best Westerns", I noticed there weren't any of the Anthony Mann/James Stewart collaborations. In the 1950s Mann and Stewart made some memorable and complex Westerns that, in my view, must be discussed when talking about the best in the genre. I particularly like Winchester '73, but they're all first rate. Oh, and no Once Upon a Time in the West?!
Good list and excellent video. Thank you for the share this, buddy. Yeee-ha! :) I link here my Top Ten Westerns as well: 1. The Magnificent Seven (1960) 2. The Outlaw Josey Wales (1976) 3. The Wild Bunch (1969) 4. Man of the West (1958) 5. Unforgiven (1992) 6. Dances with Wolves (1990) 7. High Noon (1952) 8. Rio Bravo (1959) 9. Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid (1969) 10. Cat Ballou (1965)
Wild Bunch?Missing?Open Range? 3 10 to Yuma(recent)?Little Big Man? Dead Man?Pat Garret & Billy the Kid? (Bob had something to do with my lking that one!) The Duke was a woos, couldn't act or walk...ever noticed?
Great list! So many westerns to choose from, the list could be argued and re-arranged over and over again upon new discoveries. I really enjoy the following as well: Once Upon A Time In The West, For A Few Dollars More, Jesse James, The Shootist, The Great Silence, Blind Man, Rio Bravo, High Noon, The Ox-Bow Incident, and The Professionals to name a few more. Still, every movie on your list fits the bill! Well done!
