@petertownend,,is that you camel????????....you are right about those scabby notts bastards,,,,moaning about their pits being shut, after they sat by and watched us fight for 12 months,,choosing to side with thatcher instead of their own union..they should hang their scabbing heads in shame..like you say,if they had gone on strike they'd still have a job....scabbing bastards..
I used to fetch domestic coal from the pits in the 80's somewhere I have photo's of my Lorry at Whitwell, and Ray on the chain belt down the Stocking yard at Mansfield (Crown?). I used to go with my father to fetch coal as a boy before that, I always remember Annesley for the clock on the Canteen. It is hard to believe that pits like Creswell, Mansfield, Calverton, Ollerton, Welbeck, Whitwell, Shirebrook, Hucknal, Warsop, Newstead, Blidworth and many more are now just industrial history
@petertownend ,,,nar then camel, its deano here, how are you pal???????????????/....and you are 100% right about those scabby bastards...if they had come out out on strike with us,they may still have a pit to work at...i cant believe scabs can harp on about their industry they used to have..UDM scum, thatchers sidekicks,,can you believe some miners still subscribe to the scabby bastards???
Bit of a late reply but is there a petition to keep Clipstone headstocks or just annesley?
As i know that annesley bathhouse is gone now which breaks my heart - and im not going to let them take clipstone as well - ill chain myself to the headstocks if i have to!
No petition by me, they don't do anything, as demonstrated by the destruction of annesley. Feel free to creat one though, post it here and I'll sign it as well as everyone else I know.
Ey well done lads gd music cant beat a bit of Pink Floyd and the pits around my end West Yorkshire are all but gone nothing like this a monument for a picture or two well done.
Brilliant video. My husband worked at Clipstone as a Winder for many years and has good memories. Such a shame to see it in this state now. If you ever want to photograph a pit before the vandals get in contact us. Andy & Sandra
Thank you very much. I'm glad to see my video has bought back memories for people. I visited Clipstone again the other day, it's in an even worse state now.
I will gladly take you up on your offer, which pits are these?
nicely made, never knew you could get floyd on here-unless it slipped through!,all the pits have gone up here except the lady victoria-now the scottish mineing museum,i remmember the strikes when a laddie, tough times, whole communites lost and broken up,keep your pits as monuments to the miners who lived and worked there
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it. I wish they would keep the pits, but it's looking like both of these will be pulled down for housing developments. People forget that the midlands was a mining area.

Pretty soon the whole of the UK will be houses. No heritage, no history, no industry... just f**kin houses.

Cheers for the comments, Annesley Colliery is almost a housing estate now.

Great presentation. Crying bloody shame to see the demise of the industry that forged this nation in to the Great Britain it used to be.
Good memories.

@petermines it would not have happened if the nottinghamshire miners didn't scab in 1984-85 strike the scabby bastards.

No problem, go for it. It's easy to get inside Clipstone if you try.

@MrJanesaddiction Nope, Annesley is now gone and it;s looking grim for clipstone.

I'm sorry to hear about your dad. I visited Clipstone again today, it's a sad sight, even more decrepit than when I took these photos.

I live just down the road from the Annesley one, signed the petition to keep the headstocks
Augenauf2010 2 years ago
Thank you very much, it's my petition. I think the general view is that people want to keep them. It's just the developers making rubbush up.
