I think in this case our biggest proof is Dada Qorqud. Dada Qorqud was written between 4th and 11th century. because in a lot of parts of Dada qorqud there are sign of pre-islamic turksih life parallel with islamic life. If you make research on Dada Qorqud you will see that most place names there are actually places in Caucasus.
Just take look at World`s Ethnic Map and see how many nations in the history lived under turks. Nobody has been Turkified. Everybody still speaks their language. look at the kurds. they are probably longest living nation under Turkic control. 500 years from Ottoman period and another 100 years from Turkey. But they still speak their language.

Azari was without doubt an Iranian language because it is also contrasted with Dari but it is also mentioned as Persian. It was not the same as the languages of the caucus mentioned by Arab historians. From the research conducted by researchers upon this language , it appears that this language is part of the NW Iranian languages and was close to Talyshi language. Talyshi language has kept some of the characteristics of the Median language.

In fact, even genetic studies have proven that the Azeris in Iran (and only in Iran) are identicle to the Persians. The people in Turkey aren't Turks, they're more of a mix between Bosnians, Albanians, Arabs and whatever other Muslim ethnic groups which were conquered by the Ottoman Empire. The Ottomans encouraged Muslims throughout their empire to settle in Turkey, and adopt the Turkish culture/language etc. So people of Turkey are not Turks either.

Even in High school history books in Shah time(1974) we been teached that Oghuz Turk moved to Azerbaijn area in 11 centry, and after Monguls went back to Mongulia, large population of Turk tribes name Ogh goronli and Gara Goronly tribes moved into the area and overwhelmed local population and created Saljuk Dynasty, and so on. I wish best for all Azerbaijanis, and acknowledge they are other races in Azerbaijan beside Turks.

Even When Shah Ismail send a letter to Sultan Selim. He wrote the letter in Azeri Turkish. But Sultan Selim responded him in Persian. So keep this in your mind for a long time farsi was the main spoken language even among those people who are not native speakers. Even our biggest poet who was originally from Genja Nizami Ganjavi wrote all his poems in Farsi. Farsi those times considered to be language of literature.

I think in this case our biggest proof is Dada Qorqud. Dada Qorqud was written between 4th and 11th century. because in a lot of parts of Dada qorqud there are sign of pre-islamic turksih life parallel with islamic life. If you make research on Dada Qorqud you will see that most place names there are actually places in Caucasus.
