  • Da capo!

  • fantastic, john williams is the best.between superman, indiana jones and star wars this guy has proven himself beyond a shadow of a doubt...indeed the force is strong with this one

  • John Williams in a music genius...His cinema-music is absolutly awesome!!Thumps up ;)

  • john williams really rocks with the superman them

  • 5 dislikers knelt before Zod

  • Nobody careees, if you upset a drooooiiiid! ♫

  • My favorite pre workout music. Lol! Gonna be playing over and over in my gym.

  • 5 people are Danny Elfman

  • In your face Danny Elfman!! (just joking)

  • All hail the Man of Steel!

  • <3

  • never fails to make me shed a tear :'D

  • The last episode of Smallville brought me here, which I just saw. LoL. At last! 10 seasons waiting for "superman" to turn into Superman.Hell Yeah!

  • This cool as hell

  • They keep showing all the Batman movies on the TV. Which Danny Elfman did the theme for, not John Williams.

  • @adhuston It was a tribute to Warner Brothers....so they threw Batman into the montage....whatever! Was still cool. :)

  • impressive

  • hahaha! good one!

  • Lex Luthor, General Zod and Nuclear Man dislike this video

  • @trajan231 nice 1. lol

  • @trajan231 DOOMSDAY and THAT KRYPTON COMPUTER i for get bad guy name he was the one that BLOW UP SUPERMAN HOME PLANET KRYPTON

  • 3 Dislikes??? Lex Luthor, Brainiac and Doomsday!!!

  • for some reason if i was in that crowd i would have said out of instinct .."ITS A CATALINA FU**ING WINE MIXER!"

  • This score is my alarm

  • Fucking Zod just HAD to make 2 accounts to dislike this, what a little bitch...

  • I'm sorry, why is there a batman symbol shown at 0:20?

  • I normally am a Batman freak, Superman is my 2nd favorite, but I like the theme music.

  • General Zod and Lex Luthor disliked this!

  • Brainiac and Luthor Voted in Dislike!!

  • The best theme song to a movie ever...

  • At 1:03 (Sorry I don't know how to link if it doesn't work) you can really tell that john williams is an angel.

  • I have a large feeling they r not goin 2 use John Williams masterpiece in THE MAN OF STEEL. It's a shame! :(

  • @MrGboyx360 Yeah, I got the same feeling. I think they're intentionally going to try to distance MAN OF STEEL from Richard Donner's 1978 classic and Bryan Singer's SUPERMAN RETURNS and part of that will be the absence of Williams' trademark Supes themes. Big mistake IMO...actually, the inclusion of JW's music in SUPERMAN RETURNS was one of the few redeeming parts of that disappointing film.

  • Great drums and percussions parts.

  • are they showing batman on that small flat screen tv while playing this song? lol

  • @kane001 no both of them

  • my master!!!!!

  • 100,000 views! Wow!

  • Best super hero theme song ever!

  • Darkseid dislikes this.

  • As brilliant as everything this man does is, Star Wars, Raiders, Jurassic Park, E.T., and more, THIS is my favourite. Gives me chills every time.

  • It's essentially a perfect piece of music. Mr. Williams' most underrated.

  • Lol around 0:20 they showd batman icon when it's superman lol

  • @swgdude kinda dumb, but this part of the show was a tribute to Warner Bros, so they included Batman. whatever!

  • @swgdude they show all the D.C. Comics Superheroes (that where Superman is from).

  • @swgdude duh

  • they have to use this theme for the next movie, they just have to

  • somehow I doubt it. It'll get an unusual score...or at least something different from the old films. The way James Newton Howard/Hans Zimmer's work was very different from Elfman's old Batman score. It's a reboot...I'd be shocked if it's not vastly different. But hey, nobody can ever take this music away! It lives forever. :)

  • @dankellyvo I agree, I suspect they'd use something different, and I think that's best. This is Chris Reeves' music, and so it should remain.

    RIP Chris.

  • @STNeish Well I guess you could argue it's not exclusively Christopher Reeve's music since it was used in Superman Returns...but it does signify "old" Superman...There's no way they use the full on score. Maybe a teenie piece somehow..or work it into some new pieces in a creative way...

  • @dankellyvo It's Superman's theme. Period. And it's so iconically Superman's theme that it was used in all 4 movies with Reeve, Superman Returns, AND throughout Smallville. But we shall see. I'm sure it's being discussed. However, I'm worried they won't use John Williams score because the new movie isn't called superman. It's called "Man of Steel"

  • @penclartst Hey ya don't have to sell me on it. It's the best piece of film score ever. Was it used in Smallville though? I didn't watch a ton of those shows, but the ones I did, I liked. I just get the feeling it won't be used. Like JJ Abram's Star Trek only had the old TV show theme show up at the end credits. Something like that. As part of a "reboot" or "new coat of paint" on the series, I bet it just gets something new. Sad as that makes me. :(

  • Simple AWSOME!!! Who was the one who click on 'dislike' ? Vote up this if we should arrest him/her :)

  • Lex Luthor disliked this video.

  • I feel as I was back in the movie theater in 1978 when I first heard this theme ... Man, it is a hell of a theme that I will never forget!

  • So, is this the LSO?

  • @dmed312 Nope the Boston Pops.

  • "His dense molecular structure will make him strong. He'll be fast, virtually invulnerable...and he'll say "What's up, Doc?" indiscriminately, whether he's speaking to a doctor or not."

The Looney Tunes Show actually used the Movie's Main Theme! I like it.

  • That camera captures great sound.. is it a Flip?

  • @jhayes615 I'm pretty sure that was iPhone 3gs! I know I was really surprised too! Sound quality shockingly good! :)

  • one lex luther fan, i see voted

  • The greatest movie theme ever!

  • The disliker is Lex Luthor.

  • @Mightyenapup or ken thorne :P

  • @Mightyenapup & General Zod ;)

  • @Mightyenapup And Braniac.

  • @Mightyenapup and his clone

  • @Mightyenapup

And he payed Eve Teschmacher and Otis to do the same.

  • @Mightyenapup Not only Lex Luthar but ther other two dislikers is Braniac and Darkseid.

  • At 31 years of age, the opening notes of this theme still and will probably always raise hairs on the back of my neck

  • I always get chills when I listen to this song..

    It's a masterpiece!

  • @SuperFireEagle

Me too. My body is covered in chills now.

  • 1 person prefers Batman

  • I see can me runnin in my fruit of da loom trying to save da day.

  • Anyone else get shivers??

  • this really is super.. coz there are no dislikes :D

  • @Gel24Lover It's because any time someone goes to hit dislike, Batman punches them in the face after Superman makes time go backwards so he can tell Batman about it.

  • Good video but I was actually trying to find the NES style version which is a pain in the A you know what for some reason.

There it is in a weird spot after hard searching.

Now I can go from orchestra to chiptune version!

  • its not just batman in the background. its a mixture of batman and superman if you look closely.

  • yeah, why are they showing Batman in the background, when it's Superman's theme? It's like conducting the Spider-Man theme in front of the Hulk!

  • @DemiathDoomhammer see below man. it had to do with the theme of the show.

  • AMAZING...

  • GO BIG RED ONE...................Fort Riley KS.

  • amazing! i love this

  • Ok, but why is Batman projected in the background?:D

  • @riusu23 *repasted from below* This 2nd part of the show was a tribute to Warner Brothers Studios...So even though it was the Superman theme, the introduction by Frank Langella said "Warner Brothers certainly knows its heroes"....I guess WB didn't want to leave out it's other superhero franchise? Odd, but hey whatever....still awesome to see live!

  • @dankellyvo Oh, I didn't know that. Thanks for the information. The music score from John Williams will always be amazing.:)

  • @riusu23 you got it man. And yes everything John Williams does is brilliant! I hope he keeps working for a long time!

  • @riusu23 seriously, good point!

  • @riusu23

They were showing some Superman clips as well.

  • amazing!

  • JOHN WILLIAMS, YOU ARE THE FUCKING MAN!

    "KNEEL BEFORE HIM"!

  • The very beginning of this really makes me wanna, put on a cape and do good deeds. Save kitties from trees, save puppies, help old people across the street, find a cure for cancers, shelter the homeless....real superhero type stuff.

  • wow!! crying man..LOVE IT!!

  • nice, but I think closed stadiums trap the sound and distort the shape of sound waves, the sound needs to leave the building, the sound bounces back into the instruments, impure

  • @nudracr Well you're probably right....but this is an open air place...it's called the Koussevitzky Music Shed. Not exactly an amphitheater...It has a ceiling, but totally open in the back and sides. Sounds good to me but I'm not an expert!

  • little known fact but this was written for me

  • 2:50 to 3:06 is the best...gives me chills every dam time

  • im hoping Zac Snyder puts a great Superman on the big screen...the character down right deserves it in my opinion

  • AMAZING how this song will forever give me chills. It's just one of those OH SO PERFECT scores. It's perfectly SUPERMAN in every possible way. Just spine tingling stuff.

  • @icrodriguez7 God Damn RIGHT!!! I LOVE THIS :)

  • @icrodriguez7 i remember when i was just a kid with 6 years and lots of whisperings, when i heard for the first time this song, i just barely exploded in emotions, Superman is the best hero of all!

  • :19 sec LOL MY ASS OFF BATMAN!!!

  • @triptych3z yeah kinda ruined it a little...but it was a Warner Brothers thing. Dumb!

  • john wiliams is the greatest but he had a pure amazing absolute oscar winning film to work with, he knew before superman was released that it was the greatest superhero classic off all time, no music will compare to this theme, superma is a legend and is far greater than any others, star wars is just nowhere close, listen to the music its hero, whether your british, American..etc... a legend made a legendary soundtrack because he knew it was a legendary movie...SUPERMAN, genius, john GENIUS

  • dddddıııııııı dıdıddıııııııııı....Where is my cape?...

  • I don't know why, when I watch a movie with John Williams' music, It just isn't the same in other media without it! Harry Potter hasn't any more great music like in the first 3 films, Superman isn't as heroic without this theme, Indiana Jones just CAN'T be Indiana Jones without his theme! And let's not talk about Star Wars. This man really puts you on the films through his music, just listening to this theme makes you fell you can save the world!!

  • @Kamurotetsu Feel* :D

  • @Kamurotetsu Amen! There have been (and there ARE) other great film composers, but there will never be another John Williams. Has ANY theme been more memorable than Superman, Star Wars or Indiana Jones? Don't think so. He's a genius for sure.

  • @dankellyvo nope. they even use his theme song in other movies. are you the one taking the video?

  • @zestfultuba Yep that was me. I remember having the Superman soundtrack record when I was like 8. Been a JW fan since then!

  • @dankellyvo he's legend!

  • This is absolutely INCREDIBLE music, and I've LOVED this ever since it was first released. One question, though - why are they showing Batman scenes on the video screen, when this is clearly Superman music?!?! LOL!! :o)

  • @dotmacis *repasted from below* This 2nd part of the show was a tribute to Warner Brothers Studios...So even though it was the Superman theme, the introduction by Frank Langella said "Warner Brothers certainly knows its heroes"....I guess WB didn't want to leave out it's other superhero franchise? Odd, but hey whatever....still awesome to see live!

  • as much as I love superhero movies, none has a theme that captures the grandeur of the hero like this one. John Williams really is the man!

  • It is virtually impossible to top an original!!! John Williams was born to make this theme so kryptonically out of this world!!!!!

  • Only one JOHN WILLIAMS!

  • @cockycaucasian he is godly.

  • I think this it one of the greatest main titles of all time. It transports you from whatever problems you have into a world where a man can fly.

  • Greatest superhero music of all time or ever. Nothing will ever be better than it- labelashavoc (:~>?=

  • I love the intro! Superman rules!

  • you can really hear star wars similarities in here...still awesome though ^^

  • @ElyCHiu Yeh i always thought they sounded alike when i was a child lol.

  • I hate that 'Smallvile' show- but if they put him in the suit and play this music, all is forgiven. There is no reason not to- they own the rights. I wish Christopher Reeve was alive to see it. I grew up with Superman- he will never die in my eyes.

  • @TheGoldcountry Smallville has actually been pretty good at times, but I've watched only a few shows here or there. It's a totally different approach. And hey as much I absolutely love the Christopher Reeve movies...it's just simply in the past. Chris Nolan has changed the superhero movie forever. For the better in Batman's case....I hope his Superman doesn't get too dark. (Zack Snyder is directing)....I'm just hoping for something really cool. I get the feeling we won't be disappointed!

  • @dankellyvo I agree about Batman- some people like the 'campy' Batman and Robin, but I like the Batman who looks like he can kick anyone's ass. Superman is different, though. I don't like the current 3d trend, but if anything, it's made for Superman. Imagine being in a big theater and flying. As far as the past goes, this music never gets old. I was 4 years old when this came out, and I'm not tired of it yet.

  • @TheGoldcountry this music is my favorite ever...I just can't see them using it in a reboot film. No way. But yet I can't hear something totally dark and foreboding like the new Batman score either....Something a little more hopeful, you'd think. We'll just see. I think I trust the people involved, so I'm gonna have to have a little faith in em. Besides it's not like I can do anything about it anyway! :)

  • @TheGoldcountry I disagree. Since they used it in Bryan Singer's movie, I think it ought to live on in the Nolan-produced movie.

  • @Ironcabbit I think you misunderstood my comment. I grew up with John Williams' music, and I can't imagine a movie without it. I would like to see a different intrepretation of Superman, but the music is one thing I will never get tired of. I listen to it all the time.

  • @Ironcabbit That's probably a major reason they'll decide NOT to use it. Because they want to "reboot"...Sad, but I'm not expecting to hear this theme at all. Hey its ok. Nobody's gonna come along and steal my CDs! (or mp3s) :)

  • @dankellyvo I like Nolan's movies very much. But I agree that it shouldn't be too dark. Superman is all about hope, strength, and life. Batman battles evil characters like the Joker- which is fine, I like 'The Dark Knight'. But Superman is all about saving people, and looking for the best. I think the movie is in capable hands.

  • @TheGoldcountry Yeah...definitely a challenge to make it a "cooler" modern superhero film without getting too dark for the character....I know good people are on the project...but I'm still crossing my fingers! :)

  • @TheGoldcountry Smallville has its momemts of course i am a big fan of the show so i am biased, I still take christoper reeves as superman, smallville did have the 2 pass the torch episodes the main one being rosetta? i think from season 2 which guest starred Chris reeves. And the lex story fits more who lex really is. I think

  • @frost1977 I agree about Lex Luthor, and I wish Michael Rosenbaum would come back, even for just a cameo in the last episode.

  • So I listened to this, and decided it was totally appropriate for halloween this year, so I'm making my own costume=P

  • my god, this is the BEST theme in all of cinema history imho.

  • superman theme live sounds so much better, you can almost feel the excitement and the thrills of imagining yourself being as superman

  • Damm you Batman on the Plasma Screen's!!

  • @jayce79 seriously! Had to go messing it up.....

  • Great theme to a great movie :) RIP Christopher Reeve. :(

  • Hooray! I can hear the bells/xylophone! :D

  • I love Superman

  • There have been about three Batman themes in the film franchise since 1989. there has been only one Superman theme in the franchise since 1978.

    It's THAT GOOD!!!!

  • @ForceMaximus84 well said. ICONIC! John Williams is my hero.

  • Superman 1 - Batman 0

  • nothing less than F'ING BRILLIANT!!!

  • Comment removed

  • Williams' greatest theme ever!!!

  • why is the dark knight on the tv behind them? haha surely SUPERMAN would be on

  • @WildBear6969 see below

  • @WildBear6969 It would have made sense if they only showed superman over the years.

  • Seinfeld- The Race!! Jerry runs to this song at the end

  • why are they showing clips from batman in the back lol

  • @WingZero91 repasting from below:

This 2nd part of the show was a tribute to Warner Brothers Studios...So even though it was the Superman theme, the introduction by Frank Langella said "Warner Brothers certainly knows its heroes"....I guess WB didn't want to leave out it's other superhero franchise? Odd, but hey whatever....still awesome to see live!

  • @WingZero91

Yeah i guess that's because it's DC's most known Comicbook heroes

  • Best movie theme ever written. Screw Star Wars. If you are an American and you don't like this, you should be deported to a third world country.

  • cant never forget, great and amazing

  • this song is my ring tone and when ever it goes off if im around people I take my glasses off and stand up and say Ive gotta go louis lol

  • I would have cried.

  • @Sage80 seriously I've wanted to see John Williams conduct this live since I was a little kid but never really knew there were live shows til I found out about Tanglewood. He's done many shows with the Boston Pops/Symphony and other orchestras too I believe...Also the Hollywood Bowl. Really cool stuff for a film music nerd like myself! :)

  • @Sage80 I just saw Superman again for the first time in about 20 years, and I teared up during the intro :)

  • Great Song :) love superman.....only thing i'd take out is the clapping....i dont care so much to see people clapping honestly....as i can make clapping sounds with my hands at the end XD...

  • @Bearkiller777 wanted you to get the full experience with the orchestra standing..and John Williams walking off the stage with Frank Langella....

  • @dankellyvo oh ok gotcha.....

  • Batman, the new Superman!

  • one of the greatest theme songs in the world, YOU CAN NEVER REPLACE THIS

  • the orchestra sounds weak!its like a half orchestra....doesnt sound right.

  • well it's the Boston Pops, not a full Symphony Orchestra...But you can't go by the sound recorded on my phone....It really sounded awesome. Beautiful job by everybody.

  • I like this music!!!!

  • I love this song, man!
