It was impressive to watch but I much preferred the Greek ceremonies, they had more class. And after watching this I can now see why. It's obvious Beijing just wanted to outdo all past ceremonies. This comment says it all "without the paper, we wont beat the Greek water" And it's that attitude that made for ceremonies with no soul. I wont even mention that poor little Girl.
I agree with the first three, but for your fourth point, what better things are there to do than to celebrate and cherish the Olympics? Football matches?
Does latching onto Bush like a lap poodle constitute having better things to do? My sincere advice to you is this: be nice to your bankers, lest you forget that we owe the Chinese, per head, over $4000. Chinese loans pays for our wages, houses, military spending, etc. Be grateful and don't be the dog that bites the hand that feeds it. I will be learning Chinese, and make sure your kids do so as well.

This comment has received too many negative votes show
...well for one, london probably can't do this because:
1. It's nowhere as big as china.
2. Labor is not as cheap.
3. Labor is not as plentiful.
4. They have better things to do.

I'm sure London will beat it and do better...
Remember, London games are proposing something modern and very stylish....
So, I'm expecting light, lasers and neon lights coming from anywhere into the stadium.

The other concepts would've been really awesome as well. Especially the gate of the Forbidden Palace.
