what a lot of people are missing is the fact that just because there is a lot of notes doesn't mean its lacking any type of phrasing... its just a different language. you dont understand it, so it all sounds the same and lifeless. but to those who understand fast playing and have for years, they can tell the difference between someone playing fast, tasteless stuff that has been played for years, and people who are making groundbreaking innovations in technical and speedy phrasing. marshall=class

Thanks! I don't understand why a lot of guitarists are not as open-minded as other instrumentalists. Nobody criticized Chopin when he made Op.10 no. 1, which has some crazy fast licks on there. Hi, um, I'm kind of old school having grown up wanting to play like John McLauglin (which certainly is not a bad thing) and I never thought the bar could be raised beyond him, but ever since I heard guys start to rip in arpeggios and fan/speed/economy picking I've tried to chase the techniques. I've got to a certain point but can't seem to get beyond that. Can you divulge the certain somethings that one could practice to get quantum leaps in speed technique and ACCURACY?
