  • mad skills

  • you suck

  • Score: Marshall Harrison 1 Lucifer 0

  • @riprandy318

Took one look at the guy's hands goin: "okay, okay, where do I sign?"

  • класс

  • this guitar sounds like crap on the low E string, that should not sound that way for a good guitar

  • So the H2's arent hollow? i'm a little confused... Whats the difference between the H2 and the HF2?

  • Certainly runs all over the fretboard and certainly fast but is there a tune here somewhere or just as many notes as youo can play in 2:09??

  • I got bored after 10 seconds of this...

  • what guitar is that? I think it's a carvin. But what model?

  • @MyLifeChanger carvin hs2 fatboy

  • @NOTHINGTOSEEtheband not a fatboy, it's the H2

  • @Timotheedle oops. Regardless, it's a nice guitar.

  • @NOTHINGTOSEEtheband actually some people seem to like the h2 better, they're both pretty similar

  • @Nevigo lol buddy check out all his vids before you start making a fool of yourself:P

  • wtf just happened?

  • dude, you are one hell of a guitar player! that was impressive!!

  • i wish i new wat u nknow ,on guitar

  • umm whoever talks trash about this guy; is obviously jealous.

    JUST saying.

cause i wish i could play like that.

  • turn up ur amp!

  • @TeesByTruthSurge Go look at his take on Paganini,Alkan and Wieniaski pieces.

Besides this video was on his website years ago when he was trying out his camera's video effects. He was only playing around with the theme of the piece it wasn't some serious take on Eugene's trick bag.

  • @TeesByTruthSurge Flaws in his playing? your joking, right? I didnt mean I literally wanted to be him either (as in illness and all) just saying I wouldnt mind waking up and having shawns abilities and musicality (dont mind being unkown). You are very lucky to have met him :) also I didnt see any evidence of jouble jointedness in this vid.

  • @TeesByTruthSurge Who wouldnt want to be shawn lane?

  • This sounds like someone kicking my cat in the face.

  • The Allan Holdsworth signature guitar! Awesome! Awesome playing as well!

  • You sux... this is not, by far, near the good and classic Crossroads song. Sorry dude but speed isn't everything... you should stop and listen a bit more to understand what the song means and not just throw a lot of notes away without any meaning...

  • @silviorp

Oh wow you must be an expert on guitar playing! I am so impressed over those incredible guitar videos on your page, you rock dude, sign my breasts!

    ...

  • Good try my friend, those are some sizzling arpeggios you tear through and I respect your individual and original approach to the piece. For anyone who wants to learn how to play the original from the movie note for note, I have developed a series of 12 free instructional videos detailing how to play the piece. Fun piece to play and instantly recognizable. Just go to the lessons playlist on my YouTube page and look for all the free crossroads lessons. Regards to all :) Dave Whitney

  • Just killer hybrid picking in there.

  • I wish I could move half that fast on my guitar neck! ;)

  • DDANNGGG!!!! UR GOOD!!!!! hahaha i just started and i FAIL!!!!

  • This descending run at 1:40 is soooo fast !

  • what a lot of people are missing is the fact that just because there is a lot of notes doesn't mean its lacking any type of phrasing... its just a different language. you dont understand it, so it all sounds the same and lifeless. but to those who understand fast playing and have for years, they can tell the difference between someone playing fast, tasteless stuff that has been played for years, and people who are making groundbreaking innovations in technical and speedy phrasing. marshall=class

  • @TruNikkaz

Thanks! I don't understand why a lot of guitarists are not as open-minded as other instrumentalists. Nobody criticized Chopin when he made Op.10 no. 1, which has some crazy fast licks on there. But in the guitar world, if you play fast for the whole video, you get criticized. Man, people, look at the video called Guthrie Govan on Shawn Lane.

  • You're not supposed to do Eugene's Trickbag with sweeps. :C

  • gimme your talent.. kk thanx

  • too much confusing.

  • YEAH nar maybe that comment was abit harsh aye dude.. Your'e good its just it sounds like noise to me but thats just my opinion,, keep rocking kotzen081, ps sorry for all the "F' words,

  • Just found this guy today ... what a MONSTER!!!!!

  • May I borrow your hands?

  • Now, write a good song...lol

  • yaa sorry for the nasty comment but dude!!!!

  • bro!!!! play the fucken song properly.. THis aint eugene's trick bag, its a fucken mix of bullshit with more bullshit.. This honestly sux so fucken bad and makes a mockery of the real song.. You FUCKEN LOSER, GIVE ME A CAMERA AND ILL SHOW YOU HOW TO PLAY IT PROPERLY.. YOU FUCK FACE LOSER PLAYING YOUR MADE UP SHIT

  • @ryconster Hey there champ...no.

  • @ryconster ummmmm ... i think he's just improvising with it. and its sick! but i hear ya

  • I love listening to accurate and clean picking, it sounds so pleasing.

  • not liking it. prefer derryl gabel anyday over this guy.

  • "this guy" is derryl gabel's teacher just fyi

  • oh my baby jesus....

  • holy shit!

usualmente suelo mentar madres a diestra y siniestra jajaja bueno saludos. cambio y fuera

  • You are INSANE man. Awesome.

  • AMAZING!

  • haha

rusty cooley? eat your heart out

  • I hate you!!!

    just kidding, that was awesome!!!

  • you're really talented lol

  • Something about this guys technique hes recognizable in any video.

  • Wow - and that guitar looks pretty amazing, too. What is it?

  • it is a carvin fatboy allan holdsworth model. Marshall has his own youtube channel Rozarsmacco check him out he is really good up there with the likes off bret garsed.

  • marshall harrison is to my knowledge is now the fastest guitarist alive shawn lane was the fastest but again it's not about speed at all. there's more emotion in a single note than 1000 notes lol

  • i must say when it comes to virtuosity this guy comes in second place, cause the first one is shawn lane, no one ever blew me away like shawn did, Shawn Lane forever!!!!!!

  • i considered myself to be above average at shred until i saw this. i would love a lesson on your combination of sweeping and legato. great technique. your left hand is perfection.

  • holly shit... man.. you're god...

  • WOW, nice legato

  • Paganini on a Holdsworth Fatboy!

    Nice!

  • Grammar Fail.

  • This is awesome man! you Rock

  • great fatboy with maple scale

  • Fastness is the enemy of the perfection!! kkkkkkkkkk!

  • I see there a bit of Brett Garsed picking going on there, Very nice indeed.

  • christ, i didn't think anyone could over play crossroads ,something that in its self is full of shred, but congrats man, even yngwie couldn't over play as much as that.

  • wchih guitar is it??

  • this is good.but he's playing stuff steve vai did 23 years ago

  • Steve vai could never play this at any level he's EVER been at

seriously, the progression might be similar but the technique is fucking lightyears above the crossroads set

eugene's trick bag is really basic stuff that a kid could play but this in nothing like the original

  • seriously why are you kids approaching guitar as if its a sport.

there is no cheating in music.

the stuff Harrison does is no walk in the park

his hybrid picking is one of the things that make him scary.

  • @Phrygian12 gave me nightmares ;) The guy is genius.

  • Comment removed

  • wow! you're quite a force to be reckoned with!

  • People who say this sucks dont even know

when you watch Marshall harrison or taking lessons from him its where the BIG Boys play

just keep watching your john petrucci videos

    Harrison is a Pro

he should be in Magazines and selling videos left and right

  • Indeed sir, +1 for speaking the truth

  • is i just me or are those strings extremly thick and far apart?

  • yea that is the carvin fatboy (holdswoth's guitar)

  • impresionante, has ganado el duelo

  • Hi Marshall , and nice vid , as usual . Was wondering what kind of guitar you uses on the vid , looks like a carvin , or maybe godin ?

    cheers dude ;)

  • it has been two weeks and no one's answered you so I will

This isn't Marshall's youtube channel, it's a Carvin Holdsworth guitar.

RozarSmacco is his account and has some ass kicking hybrid lessons, no prisoners lol

  • very impressive

  • carai fii dhasudhas que velocidade hein dahsudhsa parabens congratulations

    very good

  • lol you make me look like a noob xD..Good stuff man.

  • he makes EVERYONE look like a noob

  • By the way; dig the hybrid picking (very Brett Garsed) and the 'out' Shawn Lane-esque runs. Right on

  • theres actually a video of the Great Brett Garsed and Harrison playing together in Harrison's early years of tutoring at M.I.

its a amazing video who would ever thought those two jammed ive always wondered if they knew each other.

  • Bravo dude! Down with the haters. It's GREAT to hear a player with awesome technique playing a fantastic guitar. Refreshing to hear players that really put in time to hone their craft. You 'da man!

  • Is that the carvin holdsworth model?

  • yes

  • you got a great deal of the difficult parts of the piece WRONG, and covered it up with random shit,

  • you suk

  • yeah that what they call Noodling

seriously dude read the title again plus...hes freaking Marshall Harrison he can play what ever he wants.

  • ok, i was a bit harsh but i still feel nothing when i hear you play. mate

  • you can hear the strings being played clean and your sweeps sounds slightly random and not at all linked together well, why not play with some heart and soul instead just pretending to be a fucking robot.BORING

  • your not past the whole speed and complexity factor yet.

you dont even know what playing from the heart means another random kid going around seeing some one with fantastic technique claiming its good but needs soul, please dude...like your a professional and world known Critic that knows every thing about music and playing an instrument

you probably could even create a florid counterpoint

Read the title again before you start throwing in stupid observations Captain Obvious

  • @sondelachez Shut up you stupid three finger pentatonic playing wuss! You clowns always whine about "heart and soul" to make your self feel better about the technique you lack! Stick to your 3 finger pentatonic scales. Or better yet post a video of yourself doing better, fucking moron!

  • @rodeojoe55 Ok, you haven't heard me play so all that 3 finger pentatonic stuff was hilarious. I would say my technique is fine and there is nothing this guy played that I couldn't. Also If he publicly posts video, PEOPLE WILL COMMENT AND THERE WILL BE DIFFERENCES OF OPINION. So what can you take away from this?

  • That guitar looks so hot .

Is it another custom that MH got made for him ?

I'm sure I've see it somewhere before .

    Just can't remember....

  • Well of course.

    Carvin fatboy *facepalm*

  • lol yeah Allan Holdsworth's Fatboy

from this video and a few others it sounds really good..ive heard that Carvin's are over rated, but i dunno they sound really good

  • Nah, for the money they're pretty kick ass, especially the Holdsworths. Nearly completely flat fretboard. So sweet.

  • this wank impresses people that have played for 3 or 4 years but real music isnt nonsensical 64th notes over and over. Even gilbert knows this.

  • or this impresses people who are studying the techniques hes using.

this wasn't really a musical piece to begin with

the title says "playaround" not sure why your stating about it not being musical

  • And if you were in any place to criticize, you'd realize that the majority of this piece is in 16th notes and a few sextuplet sections. Also, what Phrygian said, just because Stevie Ray or Tal Farlow might not have impressed Bach doesn't mean they're any less musical.

  • wow mr. sweepy arpeggios. Horrible tone and sound quality. Also, you should work on your technique a little bit.

  • Ih that guitar a Carvin Holdsworth?

  • yeah,or at lest i think it is but im pretty sure it is

  • A guy with a fantastic technique. I wonder if there are others like this on the internet?

  • of course their are

    they're alot of them

This guy use to be a teacher i dunno if he still teach's i think he just likes to play for enjoyment

but i bet guitarworld or any other magazine would love to hire this guy

This guy Marshall Harrison Maybe one of the best guitarist ever

  • This is a gift. Rock on!

  • OH MY GOD... AWESOME it's to Fast!

    Incridible

  • thank u friend ,u r really talented,i wish u the best

  • QUE BUENA TECNICAA!! see my videos P:

  • Hi, um, I'm kind of old school having grown up wanting to play like John McLauglin (which certainly is not a bad thing) and I never thought the bar could be raised beyond him, but ever since I heard guys start to rip in arpeggios and fan/speed/economy picking I've tried to chase the techniques. I've got to a certain point but can't seem to get beyond that. Can you divulge the certain somethings that one could practice to get quantum leaps in speed technique and ACCURACY? Yours is marvelous!

  • From what I know about this player(Marshall Harrison). His basis in the beginning of his playing was structured with tons of Paul Gilbert material, mainly the Intense Rock video(as I've read, and I honestly believe this because PG just rips).

  • "His basis in the beginning of his playing was structured with tons of Paul Gilbert material"

no even though he is a influence to him

hes playing more at Shawn Lane Level if not Higher

    PG is a alternate picker

harrison is a economy picker he dose Alter too but from watching him hes mainly economy and hybrid,me and friend almost got lessons from him back in 2006 but school came and had couldn't make a 3 hour drive to and back every week

  • "Shawn Lane Level if not Higher "

lets not get foolish now here! Higher than Lane?! Only Holdsworth fits that bill. Marshall is playing what all the older boys (Malmsteen, Vai, Becker, Gilbert...) developed - nothing new, nothing original. Still very very good!

  • i think you should take a look more in to Harrison, and then come back and comment

and just so we're clear kotzen isnt talking about being on the same level of any one musically hes talking about Technique

  • You Gotta take what these guys say with a grain of salt. : ) They're big Harrison fans. Truth is, all the guys mentioned are/were great players.

  • oh no not you yngvai you twist words

  • lol How do I twist words?

BTW, I'm not trying to start anything. I swear. : )

  • the key is and every one hates this...is "Use a Metronome"

thats really the key but if your looking for crazy finger twisters and not speed check out Marshall's youtube channel "RozarSmacco"

he has done some lessons for the tube thought they do require some theory

  • sit down and alternate pick your scales up and down adding a note everytime.

  • omfg!

  • Legal mas nada a ver com a música e o kra quer ir além de sua capacidade, muitos erros porém bastante criatividade.

  • The Sweep at 1:54 - 1:56 is beautiful. Dont Suppose you could tab that section?

  • This is Marshall Harrison. Don't get bent out of shape becuase he's not playing the piece verbatim. He's just improvising on "Eugene's Trick Bag" from the movie Crossroads

  • good...no timing tho...

  • the time signature hes playing in are 4/wholy shit9

dude hes just playing around with the theme just as "rozarSmacco" said

  • 1.00 min...listen to the paganini riff...I'm talking about timing...not time signature

  • :p i know the time signature was a joke dude

    again hes just messing around

  • PUT HTE MIC CLOSER TO THE AMP,GUY

  • HEY! SLOW DOWN! I JUST HEAR A WEARD SOUND THAT SOIND LIKE "bzzzzzzzzzzzzz" xD..

    Pretty fast huh :P?

  • oh sorry there was a bee by the camera

    please for give him

  • Woah, pretty fuckin sweet

  • caramba. é o pai de steve vai?!?!?!?

  • No

Él es el hijo de Jason Becker (hijo adoptivo)

    Disculpas por mi mal español

  • I love this man, great variations, awesome sense of melody, definetaly going in my favorites! 5 stars, btw, what guitar is that? Looks likea carvin to me but im probably wrong.

  • he's using a Allan Holdsworth Carvin guitar

    you were pretty much right

  • i can't even think that fast
