ALL instruments MUST be in tune BEFORE you gig!!i cannot believe that musicians at THIS level and experience would go on with out of tune instruments!!!!in shocked!!!
This ROCKIS and is a GREAT clip...I have ONE minor complaint...has anyone paid attention to the BACKGROUND FILM playing behind them? LOL--African Warrirors in Tribal gear? A bit racist one might say no wonder clip never aired in USA LOL. Still a GREAT performance!@
@DavelovesRealMusic Wow you are an idiot. It's a film of people that aren't the same ethnicity as the band, dancing while said band is playing. How the fuck is that racist?
@kurtizzyflush Really...I am an IDIOT--why dont you email this exact posting on you tube to AL SHARPTON and see if HE thinks it is perfectly fine..and not racist. When he emails you back "100% not racist" you can call me an idiot.
Am I not hearing something here. This is the weirdest version I've ever heard. It's in straight 4/4 time, not swing like the 45. The 1st solo sounds like his guitar is completely out of tune.
@mirrortime Interesting. I have noticed the guitar and always thought it sounded funny. I wonder if this was filmed before the actual release of the song as Macca was wont to try different versions of songs before settling on a version (i.e. Two of Us). Still love his vocal here though.....the band could rock back in the Seventies.
@Paulmancieri67 Yes! indeed they could rock. I've always thought that McCartney should have gotten some kind of award for his voice. My God can that guy sing. and has so many ranges and sounds. The second solo here by Henry is better but still hurting imho. Still, this is my favorite incarnation of Wings.
INCREDIBLE VERSION!!! Much more hard driving than the original released or even from the "Wings Over America" live album. I wish I could find this somewhere, minus the crowd noise.
no. wish i could. i also have a great version of this on a bootleg titled "suitable for framing". I wish I could download this stuff for keeping. I have found so much great stuff. Even some of the cover versions I have found are nice. There's this guy who does a great version of "dear prudence" on the ukelele.
Yup, Henry's solo made me cringe, too! But I'd rather hear a sloppy guitarist with passion than the pre-recorded perfectionism that they mime to at concerts today. Rock'n'roll was meant to be played *live*! As long as it's got the energy, who cares if it's outta tune?
i don't mind that henry's solo was a bit crap, it has great energy and fun and was prob a bit tongue in cheek anyway. better that than some polished playing with less enjoyment and life surely?
I kinda like how they do this song slower than the other version; its cool! and i LOVE all of their colorful clothes!!!!!!!!!. All everyone my age wears these days is black. Yuck. I wish i was alive back then sooooooooooooooooooooooo much!!
What frigging key is Henry's guitar solo in? That was horrific. No wonder there's no live Wings footage in Wingspan. What a shame, because Paul's vocals are amazing.
"horriffic"??? It was awesome! and those guys didnt know about "what key a song was in" because they played everything by ear and didnt read music which is what made those geniuses so amazing! and yeah paul's vocals on this song rock
And yeah, Denny Laine was baked at every concert, any close ups you see of his face his eyes are barely open, which I find fascinating. I love to see footage of members of The Beatles and relating solo groups when they're high, rarely see it. Get Hi Hi Hi!
It's not really that it's slower, it's just got no swing to it, everything's played on the quarter notes instead of the swing they eventually gave it. Great version though.
This is so awesome! This is when McCartney could rock, and the band WAS hi,hi,hi. The video screen in the back was totally 70's, and the clothes Wings wore were outta sight. Great clip!
Man that video is great! That first solo that the guitar player does is terrible though, he must have gotten pretty smoked up before that song...lol...lol..
Was that a guitar solo or was someone torturing a dog.
