@MyMerlin1 Im afraid I'll have to disagree with you then cuz I have a few american friends and not them or any of the other american peeps have said anything as insulting about how I speak.
If you honestly hate these guys so much then fine but dont say shit like that.
@MyMerlin1 I can sound like a snobby know it all sometimes while speakin to these guys and they wouldnt give a flying monkey shit, so no I dont care what they sound like cuz theyre good people.
@MyMerlin1 I don't mind you saying that American accents sound lazy and things of that kind, because we do talk more slowly than most all country's. But don't use gay as one of them. By calling our accents gay you not only insult us, but gay people. There is no reason to do that. If you are going to insult are accents, only insult are accents. Not peoples sexuality.
Here in Texas, especially Houston where I live, not many people have a Southern accent. We do say "y'all" instead of "yous guys." But that's about it. Oh and we do say "fixing to" instead of "about to." But those are no big deal. Think of all the advanced programs in Texas like NASA and how Houston has the world's best medical centers and prestigious universities like Rice, Baylor, UT, and A&M. I mean really. Does my grammar make me sound idiotic?
@HollyLans I've never meet anyone who's made fun of the English accent. When ever my friends and I hear people with English accents we like to fellow them to hear it. I personally think English accents are hot.
Honestly, I'll admit, that as an Australian, I do sometimes cringe inwardly upon hearing the American accent, just cos American tourists go on and on about themselves (well the ones i've come across anyway) and it borders on narcisstic... but i'm still pleasant to them and make sure I show them a good time while they're here, which they no doubt have cos what's not to love bout The Lucky Country and us Aussies? We're tough and we love our Tim Tams :) Take care mate ;)
@Brigitt3Babe Do you say mate. Because if you do that's cute. I'm from America, and on top of that Texas. So my accent is even worse. Anyway I think the Australian accent is the best sounding.
I was born in South Carolina so we don't have much of an accent (i mean i say y'all and hill like heal sometimes) , but i just moved to Quebec... not many people here speak any different from me.
Sorry, but people from Alabama, Texas, places like that sound stupid to me. Even if they're really clever my instant assumption is that they're dumb, it's just a prejudice I can't get rid of :P It's not all Americans, just those with that hillbilly sort of accent. Is hillbilly an offensive term? If it is, sorry :P
@FreshPrinceLoverEm I am from Fort Worth, Texas. First of hillbilly isn't an offensive term. If you used it in a mean way than maybe. Second I don't talk like a hillbilly or redneck, but I still have a Texas accent, and I do say y'all. But I know some people who talk really redneck and it sounds stupid even to me. It's also the fact that they will mispronounce words, and than they don't even care or try to fix their grammar.
I love British accents, I always tend to read in a English accent, but of course they might hate our accent when the examples of American are western or new York or East coast stuff because even to me those sound kind of stupid, maybe think of someone more professional when you think of America(
Im american and idk of a problem of the american accent. Uk meaning england is ok some girls seem to like it but I hate when a england student comes to america and acts like he popular at school it just piss me off.

However, I have a British friend who is very articulate and enunciates his words perfectly, I enjoy listening to him.
American accents are made up of people all around the world. People pick up different accents from countries, states, cities, towns and so on. If american accents sound stupid then you have no brain what so ever.
@xSUPAHCOOKiiESx Every country has different regional accents, they all sound very similar though. That's why the get grouped by country on an international level.
Well USA has a few different accents, you got southern accent, the new yorker accent and "Regular accent" i guess i would say since i commonly hear it and use it. Other accents i guess....

Hi mate. I'm British, & been living in the US for about 2 years now with the wife and I came across your video today.
My opinion is that it depends entirely on the person. Generally speaking, I don't mind the accent on guys, it sounds perfectly fine. Girls with an American accent tend to be very annoying though. Most of them talk FAR too much. Americans are famous for talking 20 decibels louder than everyone else, which is very annoying in confined spaces like aeroplanes and restaurants.

@Annlucyful I can speak English, Scottish, American, Australian and Canadian.
I don't like how you guys pronounce your "R's". You have to make that weird sound with the back of your throat. But, I love the way your "W's" sound - It's like "doobla-vee". That sounds awesome.
If you think our "R's" sound weird, go watch the Germans' ones, it's weirdER (Does it exist?) lol. When the Germans speak, lots of people say it's like they're about to throw up. To me it's a little bit exagerated! I love they way they speak. But that would never replace the beautiful american accent in my heart :D. English is better hehe
@Annlucyful You're making me blush everytime you say you like the American accent!
"WeirdER"...maybe it's "more weird"...hell, I don't know our language is a pain in the ass sometimes. I do know, if you add the "er" on a word where it doesn't belong it's written like this "weird-er". So go with that, and you'll be okay. You're very good at English, thought you should know that. Can you pronounce our "Th" sound? Some French people can't. They make the "D" sound when saying a "th" word.
I know some French people who make the 'D' sound when they should say "th" too. And I also know some people who say 'ze'. But the worst to me is people who say 'sink' instead of 'think', see? Maybe somewhere people do speak like this ( I mean the natives ) but it still sounds pretty weird to me XD
It's kinda stupid people are fighting about this...that nick15342 kid (or whatever his username is) is getting on my nerve. He says he's got more important things to do so he Is going to stop fighting and leaving comments when he has left like a hundred comments on this video already!!!! Leave it a lone! All accents r great
I've never thought accents make Americans sound stupid, although it's not always easy on the ear. (I could listen to Dolly Parton for hours) What people say is much more revealing.
When you get to my age, accents aren't always the first thing you notice. It's not important.
haha im from england and i think americans accents are offit, i sometimes i try and act an american accent but it fails lol or well well i do live in england and never met anyone from america 8-)
I'm American and I hate our accent, but I think everyone hates their own accent. I don't understand other people saying that Americans & English people don't pronounce our words correctly, but that honestly makes no sense, since it's our accent. My favorite accent is English. :)
@acjones810 I live NEAR Philly, not in it. I attended private school and was taught how to speak correctly. You are thinking of the known ghetto Philly accent which I do not have. This man talks like a hillbilly.
@BestBeliebInBieber No way, I'm a Brit and I think the American accent sounds roguishly sexy. You guys always sound confident and you have dominating air with your accent. Unfortunately some people do sound retarded, but that's probably because they 'are' retarded.
@LunaZola Ha! I guess it depends where you go in Britain. I'm guessing you mean the Queens accent, as every Brit on American TV/films has had that accent? I can count 10 different accents in Britain and a lot of them sound awful.
Your accent sounds stupid because you don't enunciate and you slur your speech. They don't teach pronunciation and speech in school anymore, I hear people talking like this all the time nowadays.
I love southern accents! I find it funny how they say "drawer" because I'm from the North so I say "draw" when I mean the word "drawer" and people from the south say "law yer" when we from the North say "loyer" I find it fascinating how being from a different spot on the map can make yo sound so much more different :p
@smileitsallison Everybody says "You guys".. It's pretty standard throughout the English language. They say it in England Australia and South Africa and every place I can think of.
@smileitsallison Where the hell are you from? Outer space? I am a language major with an emphesis on linguistics so I tend to be very keen on how language is employed. Plus I know people from literally every corner of the world, and I have never ran into an anglophone group tht doesn't say it......
@smileitsallison I spend like what, 1 hour on the computer a day.... I don't think your personal attack on me has much value behind it...... And I'm pretty sure that if I asked many people from your state, they would agree with me. How on earth would "you guys" go about making "you" plural without saying "guys" after it? Please elaborate.... "You" is singular, "You guys" is plural.. It's taught in grammar books, it's said everywhere. Your location has nothing to do with it.
@smileitsallison But if you are going to say, "You all" please don't flatter yourself by saying that you have proved me wrong.. That is just a personal preference of some people. I know people from the South who Tend to say You all more than You guys. But I can guarantee if I asked them, they would think it's perfectly normal to say You guys. Then again, I know MANY people from the South who say "You guys"
all i said is, where I live nobody says you guys as in,
the people i hang out with only say yall(as in you all), and its considered yankee talk to say you guys,
but obviously you didnt comprehend that
now unless you live where i live and you know everybody iknow think you should stop tryin to prove me wrong.
and btw if you reply to this im not gonna respond, i honestly have better things to do with my life than arguin with someone random guy on the internet
@sasukelova0 I'm from the south and I talk like you(Texas to be specific). I think southern accents sound weird when used with incorrect grammar, but when not, they sound really cute.
English accent is fine though it tends to be hard to understand
while American get's it strait to the point it doesnt do the fancy this fancy that stuff (forgive me brits ) and no american does not sound stupid , oh and if brits think american accent is stupid and you guys think americans aint intellegent because they talk slow and english are faster well think again japanese talk faster they talk at bullet speed ps im from the phil so im not takin sides much
Copied "your language"? Most of the founding fathers of the US. Were of English descent. Washington, Jefferson....Their ancestors brought the English language to the new world. They didn't copy it.
@1eminemkid We didn't copy any language.. Europe invaded North America and completely killed everything in its sight in order to colonize. English remains the dominate language in the USA because of Britain's illustrious hold on the early development...... We didn't steal anything, you guys forced people to adapt it... Soooooo, you suck :-P.
@1eminemkid Apparently you have a different definition of copy than what is in the dictionary. Even the oxford dictionary wouldn't agree with you. But it's okay - I'm sure one day you will learn to write in your own language with proper punctuation and capitalization. I feel as though I do a better job expressing myself in English, in a correct manner, than somebody from which I stole the language...
@1eminemkid I'm just trying to correct your English, kid. Learn your own language before you tell others to stop copying it. Also, it's obvious that we didn't steal it, we only perfected the English language. The proof in this is that we actually know how to write................ Just saying :-P.
@1eminemkid I don't think you even know what you just said. I suggest a brief review of "Not looking like a fool on the internet 101" before you try to sound cool.
@1eminemkid And I'm the one named Eminemkid... Good call buddy. I'm sorry that you were bullied and abused. However, youtube isn't the place to unleash your frustration --- you should see a counselor.
well ur accent sounds nice actually but there others which r kind of awfull.... northern accents are deffinately better than the southern ones they honestly sound dumb at times.. im not a big fan of those thick accents but thats just me maybe im wrong ; )
Out of all the accents I've heard, American seems to be one of the loudest and most expressive accents out there. It's also really varied. There's southern, northern, eastern, western, central... I, by no means, being an American myself, think the American accent is stupid. I feel like it's a pretty unique accent, no matter what area of America you're from.
Maybe the people who live in different countries wouldent judge your accent if yours didnt stereotype european accents and kill the english language in such a way that some people would rather blow their own head off then share the same language. For example a stereotyped english accent for americans would be "Tally ho old bean, fancy a spot of cricket and crackers later on ol boy?" or the french accent conctantly mentioning wine and cheese, its your own ignorance that glorifies your own downfal
I don't know..being a non-English speaker who can only write, I am struggling to sound like a proper speaker when using your language.. I think I want to sound like you but not other people I see on TV..and if British accent, I also want to learn ..a neutral one..ahh but I think all these hopes are impossible..I can never speak English properly, but I still hope to learn, might do me some good for scholarships interview..as I don't sound like anything, just like me. hahaha :D
i am not a native speaker, but i want to have a shot on it (its my second year doing an MA). American accent is 1) very loud and gets really annoying sometimes. 2) Its speakers sound vulgar and arrogant 3) seems very divorced from reality because somehow those who speaks it use words like "cooool", "interesting", "wonderful", "amazing", "fantastic"....i might be talking about americans without being aware of it..anyway that is what i think (no offense!, just being honest)
I am a native British English speaker, but I have spent a good portion of my life in the US. The general stereotypes held about the American accent being "stupid" have to do with the fact that Americans tend to speak English slower than other English speakers and the South speaks even slower. However, American English is idealised by foreign speakers for a good type of English to learn because it tends to be more understandable.
@britishcj91 That said, people prefer to listen to the British accent, because there are some really beautiful dialects in the UK, with different intonations (especially the posh accents that most Americans idealise)
On a global scale, in approaching English, most people aspire to speak the American accent. From my experience in Britain, it really does depend on the individual - some people love it, some people hate it, some people are neutral about it, and some people think it's all right. I think this question depends entirely on the individual - and also just like you say accents in the USA vary - so do the ones in the UK - so that also changes the way people see it.
Hi, I'm from Alabama but no, I have absolutely no southern accent and only say ya'll when I point out to people that I never say it. But accents don't make you sound stupid at all, you just get a bunch of cliches thrown on top of you. So if anyone does have a problem with people because of their accent than they are a sad excuse of a person. Oh, and check out the uploader's guitar playing on his channel, pretty amazing.
I'm from the upper mid-west and I think Southern and the Mid-western accents are the most made fun of accents and California or New York accents is how people outside of the US think we all talk.
And to everyone else just ignore the village idiot and don't respond to his replies. Just let him talk to himself and eventually he'll either quit or die from lack of attention.
@slizzzler1 get the fuck off my video you bitchass loser! Seriously get a life or end the pathetic one you live now! You're arguing with everyone over the fucking Internet! I'm sorry you don't have any friends, even in cyberspace but go troll someone elses video. If you were truly intelligent you would have stopped this nonsense long ago! My advice is go seek anger management you passive aggressive little cunt.
@OGderickjones Pmsl, look at the video owner who seemed all composed in his vid, but now calling someone over the internet he doesn't know a "cunt" my, my - temper, temper, haha, and you had both the stupidity and audacity to say "seek anger management" - pot, kettle, black. I recommend you practice what you preach. Good boy.
Btw, if you looked back through the comments you will I have rarely typed swear words whereas you and the trolling star have lost you rag on many an occasion.
I'll be honest, a few Americans sound stupid, but many sound normal. The ones that pronounce words like "and" as "ind" are annoying but accents like New York and Washington state accents sound okay.
I think American accent do sound stupid,weird and nonsense,lack of content. English is from British, of course British English is the best English, I love British English. and I am not from Britain.
your accent sounds dumb ... but a normal American accent doesn't

@Annlucyful What country are you from?
FinallyBacktoBasics 1 year ago
@FinallyBacktoBasics I'm from France.
Well not from France but I'm French. (you don't get it, right? lol)
In fact, I live in Reunion Island ( southern hemisphere ) BUT it's a French department ;). It's part of France eventhough it's far away from it :)
Annlucyful 1 year ago
@Annlucyful Okay, I understand. How many languages do you speak?
FinallyBacktoBasics 1 year ago
@FinallyBacktoBasics I can speak French perfectly lol
I've been learning English for 10 years and German for 7 years.
Annlucyful 1 year ago
@Annlucyful I can speak English, Scottish, American, Australian and Canadian.
I don't like how you guys pronounce your "R's". You have to make that weird sound with the back of your throat. But, I love the way your "W's" sound - It's like "doobla-vee". That sounds awesome.
FinallyBacktoBasics 1 year ago
@FinallyBacktoBasics What?
It seems to me that you're describing the way the Germans pronounce their "W's" and their "R's" ... LOL
Annlucyful 1 year ago
@Annlucyful No - It's French! I watched the French alphabet here on YouTube...you don't know your own alphabet? Rolz
FinallyBacktoBasics 1 year ago
@FinallyBacktoBasics lmao !
Annlucyful 1 year ago
@Annlucyful You're making me blush everytime you say you like the American accent!
"WeirdER"...maybe it's "more weird"...hell, I don't know our language is a pain in the ass sometimes. I do know, if you add the "er" on a word where it doesn't belong it's written like this "weird-er". So go with that, and you'll be okay. You're very good at English, thought you should know that. Can you pronounce our "Th" sound? Some French people can't. They make the "D" sound when saying a "th" word.
FinallyBacktoBasics 1 year ago
@FinallyBacktoBasics haha x)
Thank you :D
Yes, I can do your "Th" sound perfectly :D
I know some French people who make the 'D' sound when they should say "th" too. And I also know some people who say 'ze'. But the worst to me is people who say 'sink' instead of 'think', see? Maybe somewhere people do speak like this ( I mean the natives ) but it still sounds pretty weird to me XD

I've never thought accents make Americans sound stupid, although it's not always easy on the ear. (I could listen to Dolly Parton for hours) What people say is much more revealing.
When you get to my age, accents aren't always the first thing you notice. It's not important.
I'm from London by the way.

I'm American and I hate our accent, but I think everyone hates their own accent. I don't understand other people saying that Americans & English people don't pronounce our words correctly, but that honestly makes no sense, since it's our accent. My favorite accent is English. :)

catharine521 1 year ago
@catharine521 No worries. Your Philly accent is complete garbage.

@acjones810 I live NEAR Philly, not in it. I attended private school and was taught how to speak correctly. You are thinking of the known ghetto Philly accent which I do not have. This man talks like a hillbilly.

BestBeliebInBieber 1 year ago
@BestBeliebInBieber No way, I'm a Brit and I think the American accent sounds roguishly sexy. You guys always sound confident and you have dominating air with your accent. Unfortunately some people do sound retarded, but that's probably because they 'are' retarded.
Kittywhiskers1000 1 year ago
@Kittywhiskers1000
That's funny, we tend to think you Brits sound confident and sexy.
LunaZola 1 year ago
@LunaZola Ha! I guess it depends where you go in Britain. I'm guessing you mean the Queens accent, as every Brit on American TV/films has had that accent? I can count 10 different accents in Britain and a lot of them sound awful.
Kittywhiskers1000 1 year ago
Your accent sounds stupid because you don't enunciate and you slur your speech. They don't teach pronunciation and speech in school anymore, I hear people talking like this all the time nowadays.

sami2503 1 year ago
I love southern accents! I find it funny how they say "drawer" because I'm from the North so I say "draw" when I mean the word "drawer" and people from the south say "law yer" when we from the North say "loyer" I find it fascinating how being from a different spot on the map can make yo sound so much more different :p

@sasukelova0
northern accents are ridiculous haha.
like "Draw" and "you guys" and you call soda "pop"
good stuff.

@smileitsallison Where the hell are you from? Outer space? I am a language major with an emphesis on linguistics so I tend to be very keen on how language is employed. Plus I know people from literally every corner of the world, and I have never ran into an anglophone group tht doesn't say it......
Nick153452 1 year ago
@Nick153452
im from the south, and seeing the fact that i live here i think i know a little more about how the people talk,
just sayin.
so stop thinkin so high of yourself and your major,
better yet, maybe you should get off youtube and study your anglophone groups a little better before you assume you know everything.
i honestly didnt plan on wastin my time with some argument when i posted that comment, sorry i posted my thoughts.
smileitsallison 1 year ago
@smileitsallison I spend like what, 1 hour on the computer a day.... I don't think your personal attack on me has much value behind it...... And I'm pretty sure that if I asked many people from your state, they would agree with me. How on earth would "you guys" go about making "you" plural without saying "guys" after it? Please elaborate.... "You" is singular, "You guys" is plural.. It's taught in grammar books, it's said everywhere. Your location has nothing to do with it.
Nick153452 1 year ago
@smileitsallison But if you are going to say, "You all" please don't flatter yourself by saying that you have proved me wrong.. That is just a personal preference of some people. I know people from the South who Tend to say You all more than You guys. But I can guarantee if I asked them, they would think it's perfectly normal to say You guys. Then again, I know MANY people from the South who say "You guys"
Nick153452 1 year ago
@Nick153452
all i said is, where I live nobody says you guys as in,
the people i hang out with only say yall(as in you all), and its considered yankee talk to say you guys,
but obviously you didnt comprehend that
now unless you live where i live and you know everybody iknow think you should stop tryin to prove me wrong.
and btw if you reply to this im not gonna respond, i honestly have better things to do with my life than arguin with someone random guy on the internet

while American get's it strait to the point it doesnt do the fancy this fancy that stuff (forgive me brits ) and no american does not sound stupid , oh and if brits think american accent is stupid and you guys think americans aint intellegent because they talk slow and english are faster well think again japanese talk faster they talk at bullet speed ps im from the phil so im not takin sides much

@rosette704 wtf you coppied our language but just put gay little slangs on the end of each word
1eminemkid 1 year ago
@1eminemkid ...
Copied "your language"? Most of the founding fathers of the US. Were of English descent. Washington, Jefferson....Their ancestors brought the English language to the new world. They didn't copy it.
fitz207 1 year ago
@1eminemkid We didn't copy any language.. Europe invaded North America and completely killed everything in its sight in order to colonize. English remains the dominate language in the USA because of Britain's illustrious hold on the early development...... We didn't steal anything, you guys forced people to adapt it... Soooooo, you suck :-P.
Nick153452 1 year ago
@Nick153452 lol so yes you did copy our language but it's ok i love americans
1eminemkid 1 year ago

Out of all the accents I've heard, American seems to be one of the loudest and most expressive accents out there. It's also really varied. There's southern, northern, eastern, western, central... I, by no means, being an American myself, think the American accent is stupid. I feel like it's a pretty unique accent, no matter what area of America you're from.
sasukec 1 year ago
Maybe the people who live in different countries wouldent judge your accent if yours didnt stereotype european accents and kill the english language in such a way that some people would rather blow their own head off then share the same language. For example a stereotyped english accent for americans would be "Tally ho old bean, fancy a spot of cricket and crackers later on ol boy?" or the french accent conctantly mentioning wine and cheese, its your own ignorance that glorifies your own downfal
argonian51 1 year ago
I don't know..being a non-English speaker who can only write, I am struggling to sound like a proper speaker when using your language.. I think I want to sound like you but not other people I see on TV..and if British accent, I also want to learn ..a neutral one..ahh but I think all these hopes are impossible..I can never speak English properly, but I still hope to learn, might do me some good for scholarships interview..as I don't sound like anything, just like me. hahaha :D
catdogmzj 1 year ago
i am not a native speaker, but i want to have a shot on it (its my second year doing an MA).

Thing I like about the Southern Accent is that it sounds a lot less pretenses than other North American Accents.
Rikman56 1 year ago
I am a native British English speaker, but I have spent a good portion of my life in the US. The general stereotypes held about the American accent being "stupid" have to do with the fact that Americans tend to speak English slower than other English speakers and the South speaks even slower. However, American English is idealised by foreign speakers for a good type of English to learn because it tends to be more understandable.
britishcj91 1 year ago
@britishcj91 That said, people prefer to listen to the British accent, because there are some really beautiful dialects in the UK, with different intonations (especially the posh accents that most Americans idealise)
britishcj91 1 year ago
On a global scale, in approaching English, most people aspire to speak the American accent. From my experience in Britain, it really does depend on the individual - some people love it, some people hate it, some people are neutral about it, and some people think it's all right. I think this question depends entirely on the individual - and also just like you say accents in the USA vary - so do the ones in the UK - so that also changes the way people see it.
SebastienLoong 1 year ago
Hi, I'm from Alabama but no, I have absolutely no southern accent and only say ya'll when I point out to people that I never say it. But accents don't make you sound stupid at all, you just get a bunch of cliches thrown on top of you. So if anyone does have a problem with people because of their accent than they are a sad excuse of a person. Oh, and check out the uploader's guitar playing on his channel, pretty amazing.
