Arcadia and Sierra Madre, Calif. police used them in the 1960s. In about 1968, I remember seeing an Arcadia squad car with its Mars light hopped up to run twice as fast as usual. Don't know how they did that. Sierra Madre switched over to LAPD twin steady red cherries in the front SMS flashing amber to the rear. Arcadia held on to 1 DX and 1 steady red (required in California) until about 1970 when they went to light bars.
