  • This is so amazing. Sooo amazing! What a wonderful interpretation. Thank you soo much, Leopold! Tragic that it has only 12000 views while stupid pop icons get billions. As much as I love gaga...haha.

  • The grandeur of the composition is well defined in this work. Clearly Stokowski realized that this work needed additional expression. The orchestra was the best instrument to show how great the Chaconne really was.

  • This is so great. I usually don't like different adaptations of pieces of music I love but this is simply amazing.

  • Anyone attempting to do something like this today would be treated as a musical heretic by the media and abandoned by the record labels. Here was a man of his time, trying to push the boundaries of Bach’s music. With the opening rather reminiscent of “Metamorphosen” by Strauss, this orchestration and performance is quite astounding, put in the can long before the days of easy editing and added saccharin reverb. What a pleasant find, many thanks for uploading it, a real pleasure.

  • Prefer it on the solo violin, but absolutely love the first minute or so - those chords are just wondrous. Love it when the violas comes in at 0:55 - very dusky atmosphere there.

  • good arrangement but it misses the fire, the passion when it is played on solo instrument. But as always it is a pleasure to listen to Stokowski's transcriptions.

  • Very good arrangement

  • non pensavo cosi' ben orchestrata!!bel lavoro e raffinata esecuzione

  • Certainly more subdued than the solo versions I'm familiar with! A very interesting and different look at one of my favourite pieces.

    Quite stunning.

  • I'll have to take your word for that :) I just remember this being the first version I heard back some 12-13 years ago or so. In comparison to the solo pieces I've heard so far, this interpretation has way more power to it and that is what thrills me :)

  • Man... this was hard to find! Way too many annoying solo performances amongst the search results. But finally I found it :) The only true version of Bach's Chaconne... thx for the upload :)

  • @flicebaby I myself like the variety , in this case I like to hear first a good interpretation by guitar (e.g. as Narciso Yepes has made), then maybe solo violin (but it's very hard to play good on a string instrument as a solo piece, though composed for violin) then a concert piano (with good hall effect of the sound) and finally an orchestra transcription like this one :-)

  • i totally froze when the first few chords started playing...

  • This is wonderful music

  • Hollywood kitch!!!!

  • Thank you

  • i had a tape of this about 8 years ago, and i couldnt find it. i found it on youtube. i didnt know the song.

  • @markov2b1 a satisfying find then?

  • Thank you very much for posting this recording. What a wonderful arrangement and performance.

  • @MrLetzark Mein lieber Idiot:

  • thank you. beautiful.

  • thanks for uploading !

  • Bach = Father of Music

  • Haunting. Probably my favorite transcription of it.
